    Hello!
This was the first video that I watched regarding this channel because I had been considering buying a used set of KEF iQ1's in near-mint condition for $75 U.S. Dollars.
My secondary listening room setup is a recapped 1980 Pioneer SX-3800 (60-watts), U-Turn Orbit turntable with a Sumiko Moonstone cartridge and a Integra 6-CD changer (with a built-in Wolfson DAC)
    I have a 12x12 foot room so I guessed that the iQ1's would be a perfect-sized speaker.
As a direct result of this video I bought them, brought them home today. I'm very, very pleasantly surprised regarding how well they are performing so far. I played everything from Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, John Coltrane, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, The Cars, and The Police on records. The results have exceeded my expectations.
As you accurately stated, the sound is very clean/detailed/articulate. The mids are lush while the bass is present, detailed and a wee-bit punchy.
I'm also impressed with the overall build quality. The cabinets have good weight to them and are surprisingly inert.
I suspect that I shall be keeping these speakers for quite a long time. Thank you for the masterful effort that you put into this video. It was engaging, entertaining and informative which adds up to something quite fun.
Have a very Happy New Year!🎉

I've got iq5 from 2005. Still does the job. Like you said they need sub to fill that gap. But the crispness and clearness of sound is amazing even after so many years. That high tones ...I've used 2 different denon amplifiers..on both mid and high tones soundes great.

Im sure richer sounds partnered the kef IQ1's with the marantz pm 7200 class A/B or class A amplifier around 2005.
Selling them together as one of their package deals. I can imagine that these kefs are fantastic sounding speakers.
The front firing reflex ports are a good size which helps with ease of placement in an awkward room.
I like a good size port for better bottom grunt, this usually works well at good volume levels when you get a good whack
of a bass drum, you'll feel it.
I remember the first time i had that experience when i bought my mission m74's which have a very large rear firing port.
Whack of a bass drum or sudden thuds like you'll get from a subwoofer.
Speakers like that will usually give a great transient stereo bass effect at good volume levels.
I love these kind of speakers but sometimes im more in favour of a more dampened coned materiel mid/bass driver like kevlar. The metal/plastic type mid/bass drivers can sometimes sound a bit subtle at lower frequencies.
And sometimes, depending on room size, can sound harsh in the mid range at high volumes.

My brother used to have the older version q15 and then q35 about 20-25 years ago. Yeah I was blown away by the sound and never heard anything like it since. I myself have owned q950 but took up too much space so got some b&w bookshelf's instead

I'm traveling to Bangkok on Friday from Phnom Penh and I have a chance to audition the IQ3, gently used, at an asking price of $416 USD. But I only have a limited amount of time in that one day, so if I audition the IQ3 it will mean that something else doesn't get auditioned, instead. So ... smash or pass?

Big fan of Kef here. From your review I know that these are not from me to be honest. I reckon that IQ3 could be better fit. I suffer with the lack of bass in my Focal Chorus 705's, so wouldn''t buy another speaker with similar downside. Not a big issue as I own way too many pairs of speakers (according to missus). I have Kef's Q100 and Q300's - test them if you have a chance. Successor line of those from the tes. Impressive, even a smaller Q100 packs a punch with all the advantages of Uniq at the top end. Q300 are a bit darker but the bass is like in a small floorstander. I don't know if u had a chance to listen any of Mordaunt Short speakers? Avant series is very decent in my opinion - used to own 904's - compact floorstander, and man... what a big sound from such a small cabinet! Sometimes maybe the bass is even over boosted. Probably 906's or 914's would sound more natural (but I still loved 904's!) Another speaker which sound good for small price is Gale 3030. It's from my personal experience.

I do have a couple of kef reviews coming up in the future if you are a fan like you say , I can get my hands on some q 150s and the small power houses that are the ls60 wireless, I'm really looking forward to hearing those , maybe some competition for even the f1-8s fyne audio they are a similar price .....ish . And I completely understand my misses says I have to many speakers and I only own 1 pair , I do review alot though but they don't count because there not mine right ? Lol

I don't understand why manufactures don't put a metal mesh on tweeters to stop child wondering fingers.
My monitor audios that have metal domes have an genius metal cover mesh which is held on by the force of its magnet.
    Perfect!
But then, i have more common sense not to bring children of my own into this crap world!
