They tried to make it look "raw", but have you ever seen a live musical performance. There is no way they could film this in one take without staging it.
I've always enjoyed the fact that Clay's version includes the "Reach out..." bridge, which isn't found on the original demo by Chris Braide nor on the D-side version that was released shortly before Clay released this. The bridge, with it's key change, additional lyrics and layered background vocals, fits perfectly into the song and brings the energy level up quite a bit.
Makes me think of my childhood. I was obsessed with this song. Glad I came across it again

Tiffany Wilhelmsen I was in Elementary school when this song came out. It was literally my favorite as a kid. I got bullied so much for it, because I liked him even after he came out as gay. Back where I lived, it wasn’t acceptable to be gay. I didn’t care.
I’ve also personally met him and had several phone conversations with Clay. He’s an amazing human being, an excellent politician and he stands for what it’s like to live in a small town.

Here because I just saw the episode Phineas and Ferb that he sung a song in on Disney Channel. Funny enough the song he was singing with Shaka Kann was titled "Measure of a Man" which is the title of this album.

I use to go to church with clay’s great aunt. It’s been so long ago I don’t remember her name now. My mom probably would remember. Anyhow to make a long story short, she passed away, and I met his mother. I would’ve met him too, but he was on tour. He looks exactly like his mom. She had a warm sweet personality. Great family.
