I'm so happy to see someone react to this INCREDIBLE song/video! I miss Chrissie. It's frustrating that so many people dismiss the Divinyls as just a one-hit wonder because of "I Touch Myself." They released a string of albums filled with brilliant classic rock music. And this particular selection is one of the greatest ever.

Chrissy Amphlett the Queen of Australian rock.
Notice that she is wearing a school girl uniform?
That’s a hats off to Angus Young of AC/DC

This great Australian artist never was fully appreciated before dying of breast cancer concurrently with MS. Gone WAY to soon.

Next: your reaction to Science Fiction by the Divinyls. We need more foreigners reacting to Australian punk-rock/post-punk/new wave from the '80s in general, though. There's a wealth of overlooked material.

Chrissy was an amazing artist, unfortunately not only did she suffer with MS but later on she got cancer & couldn’t get radiation treatment because of MS, sadly she passed away in 2013 at the age of 53 in New York, one consolation she passed away peacefully in her sleep

This song came out in the early 80s and was, at that time, very controversial because of it said that girls could "have fun" too, and also that it showed the consequences bestowed by society of that behaviour. Today it is called "slut shaming" and has been the bane of many females who are still not viewed the same as males.
A guy has several partners and is deemed a legend or a hero or a stud; while a woman is accused of being a slut and morally degenerate. This attitude is slowly changing (about as quickly as a glacier moves); and the sooner it does the better. Let people have fun and give each other pleasure for f**k sake.
    Divinyls...and Chrissy...Aussie pub rock legends!

I can't think of any other band that has almost every song on there albums worth playing . but not only did they put out some of the best music but very down to earth as per when they opened for Aerosmith in Northern Ca. I had on a self made Divinyls T-shirt and got invited back stage we talked music and that made my year. I Miss them

Audiences feared her as much as they admired her. And did they ever admire her. Christina Amphlett was a force of nature in a heavily male dominated industry and more than held her own. Legend!

Great early 80’s Aussie music - Science Fiction’ is another great track. So many bands that were fringe in the Australian music scene that was dominated by overseas acts. Midnight Oil, The Triffids, The Go-Betweens, Hunters & Collectors, The Church, Australian Crawl, so many others...love your work.

This is the lead-in track on their Australian compilation "Make You Happy 1981-1993". The tag line is "Hits, Rarities & Essential Moments of an Incendiary Australian Band'. It's over 75 minutes long but still wasn't enough for me so I made another compilation to complement it. The 1st song I heard by them is 'Ain't Gonna Eat Out My Heart' which was in the film "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". You'd like the song 'Temperamental' as well. They also did covers of 'Wild Thing' and 'Love Is the Drug' which you could contrast with the original by Roxy Music.

Some say "Science Fiction" is their best song, but this is my favourite
The late Chrissy Amphlett used to dress as a school girl in response to Angus Young's (AC/DC) school boy outfit
In this song she sings "Get me out of here" as "Get me out of ear"

@Sincerely, K.S.O. 3:08 Lyrics, you were pretty close, just a couple misheard or hard to interpret/accent difference issues:
"I am through with hanging around
With all the boys in town
Now I want a man around
    Get me out of here
I am a just red brassiere to all the boys in town
Put this bus in top gear get me out of here
I must have been desperate I MUST HAVE BEEN PRETTY LOW
I must have been desperate I must have been pretty low
I was always driving home all the boys in town
But they never telephoned get me out of here
    I think THEY'RE pretty phony
    You're not like the rest
    You've heard of matrimony
    They've all flunked the test
I must have been desperate I must of been pretty low
I must have been desperate I must have been pretty slow
Oh I'm tired oh I'm wired
Oh I'm tired, oh I'm wired ahhh
Too much too young, too much too young
Too much too young, too much too young
Get me out of here, get me out of here
Get me out of here, get me out of here
Get me out of here, get me out of here
    Get me out of here"
