We're rolling with Godfrey Ho again, but this time Cynthia Rothrock is along for the ride. We loved their collaboration in Undefeatable, so we were hyped to watch this. It didn't disappoint. Rothrock, an Eddie Murphy clone, and copious amounts of martial arts make this one a helluva watch.

@@mephistopheles4910 I wonder how much of hers is traditional moves, her ex-husband is a master of Eagle Claw Kung Fu who runs a network of schools in my area. For traditional Kung Fu they're awesome, but for actual self defense it's about as McDojo as you can get.

"Cheddie Murphy" is Chuck Jeffreys, a martial artist/stunt coordinator who worked with Wesley Snipes a lot. He was actually Eddie Murphy's body double in 1992's Boomerang.
Shocked that you didn't recognize Donna Jason (Cynthia's sister) and Gerald Klein (Silk the henchman) because they're in Undefeatable too. Jason was the wife's therapist and Klein was the cop's partner.
I didn't recognize either of them until I was editing the video. It's been years since we watched Undefeatable.
I remember seeing Chuck Jeffreys in Hawkeye, a terrible 1988 kung fu/buddy cop movie, where he was paired up with a totally unfortunate-looking protagonist played by the writer/co-director, George Chung. Jeffreys was doing an even more obvious Eddie Murphy impression in that one if you can believe it.
Also, if you're looking for a great Godfrey Ho cheesefest, Ninja Terminator from 1986 is a great one. One of the silliest movies I've ever seen.
Erin's Color Guard comment got me cracking up. Like imagine he's out in his yard doing all those moves, and then off screen you hear "not bad old man..." and the camera pans over and a high school color guard girl just goes HAM on a flag. Next thing you know it's a face off between them on who can bust out the best moves.
I'd watch that movie 🤣

Chuck Jeffreys is LEGIT. I don't know how this guy wasn't a bigger name back in the day. Very good control on his kicks, decent acting ability. Him not doing some sort of movie with Eddie Murphy is one of the biggest missed opportunities ever. There should be at least three "My Cousin Cheddie" films😂

it would have been leagues better than Pluto Nash, Norbit,Nutty Professor 2: The Klumps(which is a guilty pleasure, but it's not great), Meet Dave etc..Basically most of what Eddie did from 00s onward.

True that. I think she's even more beautiful today than back when she was making movies.
I think I saw a few of the movies she was in but I'm sure those were from the later part of the 90's. I remember that she mostly did her own stunts and that she obviously took hits. It's likely that she got injured from doing stunts especially watching Jackie Chan outtakes.
She is in obviously in way better shape than certain "actor" who needs a stunt double to fit through a door.
They say Martial Arts keeps you looking younger than what your age is.. Look at Chunk Norris for instance..
You know the movie is good when Erin laughs so hard she loses her breath at the very first action scene. I remember watching this when it came out. it was great then, its great now.

This movie's budget was at LEAST 75% jacket, and at most 1% music and sound. This movie was just the best epitome of late 80's karate cheese. Obviously in retrospect death is not the only thing that stops Jason Slade, a Rothrock with shoulder pads works nicely.
The jacket game was on point. Rothrock with shoulder pads can retire anyone.

The Jacket game alone deserved an award for this film… the cheesiness was delicious, and the commentary was hilarious… this was one of the funnest episodes in a long time. 👏🏻

Great episode! I met Cynthia Rothrock years ago at Dragoncon. She was a load of fun to meet and talk to. If you can get a hold of a copy The Magic Crystal is an interesting early Rothrock movie.

I’ve seen this before. I loved how kung fu was a part of EVERYONE’s life (kung fu answering the phone and chopstick eating). It’s like this movie was hanging on to the 80s cheese but was starting to be its own ridiculous 90s style

A lot of people forget that in the 70s and 80s, everyone in every movie knew martial arts. There was never a fist fight but a full blown karate fight. Life was better then.
Random martial arts fights are the best.

Hilarious reaction, I used rent these B movies regularly from the video store & it's a shame Cynthia Rothrock never made it to A list action because her fighting skills are outstanding.
Highly recommend you watch Yes Madam with Cynthia Rothrock & Michelle Yeoh it's a 80's Hong Kong action gem.

So the guy who looked like Eddie is Chuck Jeffreys. The majority of his credits are as a stuntman/stunt coordinator. Did a lot of that on the first Spiderman movie, Blade, and Oz

I love the Cynthia Rothrock Universe where everyone knows kung fu. I want to live in it.
The iron balls called (at least by my country's kung fu practitioners) qi gong marbles/spheres (I don't know which is the better english word for it) and in the '90s it was a great business to selling this, they said it rises your life energy and stuff. In the reality it was used in China simply to give more strength to your palm and hand. (in one old Jackie Chan movie the bad guy also always uses them)

It's always funny when they fight in movies, both fighters land punches until one pulls out a knife. Then the one with the knife can't seem to make contact with the unarmed fighter anymore.

Rothrock mde tiger claws 1 and 2. Definitely worth a gander. Has Bolo Yeung in them too. 2nd one has one of the funniest screams of all time. Wilhelm scream has NOTHING on it.

We have so many amazing movies from that era.
Somewhere around the 20-minute mark, this episode devolves into beautiful chaos where you all seem drunker than you probably are and no one seems to know what anyone else is talking about. I love it.

Cynthia is a queen! Always overlooked when talking action stars. She has the best kicks of any established action star bar none. You should try the Tiger Claw films. Defo SBIG territory. Plus they have Bolo Zeung (bad guy from bloodsport). Also keep an eye out for conventions with Cythia at them, you might be able to interview her. She's a super nice person

I think Cynthia Rothrock is still active in the martial arts scene. Pretty sure she has her own school. She got her start in Hong Kong cinema. So she does a lot of her own stunts.

Hes been a fight choreographer for over 2 decades.
He's also done stunt work in movies like Spiderman, Gladiator, and Blade.
Definitely a beast. He was really impressive.

If you guys crave more “discount Eddie Murphy” then may I humbly recommend 1988’s Hawkeye. It has been covered by other channels but I think your style, perspective and all around awesomeness totally justifies it.

I watched 'Night Vision’ with Cynthia and Fred Williamson last night (prime uk) It was a glorious piece of shit! With one of the greatest lines I've ever heard in movie.

Yes, her movies are pure 80's/90's cheese, BUT Cynthia Rothrock is an absolute legend of the martial arts action genre.
Some idiots complain about ''lack of female action heroes'', when Cynthia was starring in Hong Kong movies, alongside legendary martial arts superstars like Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao and Michelle Yeoh back in the 80's.
They even modeled 2 videogame characters after her, Sonya Blade from Mortal Kombat and ''King'' in the SNK ''King of Fighters'' series.
