Anyone that says this is animal abuse obviously hasn’t had their vehicle pulled out of the ditch by these magnificent animals

Love learning about this. Those animals are great. Seeing how they want to work is beautiful.
I have a serious question. If you find something they really like, would they pull more.??
You know how some dogs have that toy they'll climb a tree for?
I never had the opportunity to try bulls, but i know work pulling & then those bursts you see sometimes out in the field, or when there's a female in heat. That's a whole nother level of power.. Love they listen & nobody it snapping a whip..Great.

What breed, Chianina? At what age are they "altered"? Always wondered the difference between a steer and an ox.

An ox is just a trained steer. They are called working steers until they are 4 years old then they are considered oxen.

I don't know where to find the answers to my questions. Maybe you can help me. Why don't they use harness like horses? Is it because of the physical bodies? Are the yokes padded so they don't cause sores? Do you like the neck yoke rather than the head yokes like I saw in another video?

Yes a yoke is used because of the cows anatomy. I've seen some people use a harness like a horse, but a yoke is better in my opinion. The ox leans into the yoke and most of the pressure is put on the top of the shoulders not the neck like most people think. I've never used a head yoke so I can't comment on that, looks like it would be annoying to the oxen to me. 🤷 A neck yoke allows the ox to move it's head, with the head yoke they have to fight against each other to look around.

    Looked like Fryburg to me.
I'm pretty sure I've seen your pair pull before.

I'll take this "sport" any day of the week over bullfighting which is a barbaric spectacle, I love animal especially bulls, they're beautiful and have served human for centuries.

very nice !I have a question : Wich all respect. Some of your animals have balls, others not. Is it better to castrate or not ?

The wooden yoke may be a cheap and traditional way, but is by far not the best way to hitch cattle. There are better ways to do that , for example the padded cattle harness invented in Bavaria already in the 19th century.

question for Klaus would be to demonstrate by video your padded collar harness and see if they can out pull oxen in a yoke on the same kind of load.

@@AndrewConroyOxwoodfarm Right now I cannot, because I do not know of any video of that sort. But I can refer you to a lengthy article in the Small Farmer's Journal in the mid-90s, I think , which had the results of studies that showed that with this more cattle friendly harness oxen could pull more, especially without any chafing on the neck that occurs with yokes.
