Pretty cool seeing this fellow working his oxen in an untraditional manner. And he gets to sit down, which I don't think most oxen drivers get to do. Good job, Mark!
i mean,, the inter-noses-rope is bad because the oxen are constantly eyeing each other as not to tug at the rope. this causes them to be somewhat stressed and overly cautious. one can see that by the slow and cautious movements, and how they pay 50% attention to what the guy is talking.
Not that I dislike yoked oxen, but is it not time that a more comfortable 'harness' is designed to fit an ox's body, like the horse collar for the horse?
there's really no need for that line connecting the two noses. it just makes the animals discomforted. one line per animal, from nose to hand would IMO be much better. excellent idea with the nose clips, though!
I understand that is a hige, powerful animal to control . The nose ring seems mean, but I understand why. A runaway animal that big, or two of them can kill people. Wish there was a better way. But for the folks freaking out... come work w an animal that big. And that ring is spring loaded. It will pull out, just takes a bit, and doesn't feel good yankin on it.
An Oxen is a working cattle. Most people call all bovine, cows. It's not "correct" but it's passable. A bull is a male intact bovine. A steer is castrated male. Most Oxen are castrated males. But its not a rule. They do not have to be steers, they do not have to be male.

Cows and horses have different anatomy. Most all the pressure is put on the yoke its self not the bows around the neck.
pretty cool.will you be taking them to common ground fair this year 2017?
Wow, you have very beautiful oxen. What breed are they?
Great video - Where can I buy the "spring loaded nose clips" ? thanks
They are gorgeous, they resemble some of the draft breeds of Spain. What breed are they?
He said Holstein and some short of Italian bread cross
How do one get that set of a York

Sorry I'm french speaking, your pair is a cross between a holstein and «....? ». What I hear is something like «keenayheel». .... sorry.
my new intro
Nose rings are great. Must have them to submit.
Maybe we should put one on you. Some of the best teams operate without noserings
Good ox should be drived by the voice onle.
Damn, talk about rough.where is the ring in your nose too.
Ox is strong horse ?

i thought oxen were bulls or steers not cows.
Oxen are just cattle of any sex trained as a draft animal. These two animals here are both steers

not impressed. in Germany we have a collar almost like a horse collar and use lines...but not like that.
