I don't like cars, and I've never had a drivers license for a car in my life; probably because they don't jump like the Mach 5.

Brings back childhood memories with my wacky sense of humor today! I never realized there was a "Movie" beyond the series.

Gosh! I loved Speed Racer as a kid and then used to watch that compilation movie in VCR with my son ages ago. It came with a little plastic Mach 5. You brought back a good memory. I am in your debt.
Stitched out of 2 standard episodes, the commercials are as good or better then the movie itself (since the episodes are common and not new). The Mammoth Car was always one of my favorite episodes followed by Special Engine (the GRX), and "The Race For Revenge" (Melange Still Races).

Now that I heard this remix song 20+ years later. It suddenly sounds out of place. I knew it was always in there. This was a a 90s remix. It does remind me of lords of acid song released 2 years before the vhs movie in 93. So maybe that was inspiration of of the remix. Either that's just what beat makers sounded like back then.
When I was little I broke one of my brother's toys because he was being a jerk. When She asked why, I said:"'For revenge!". I knew if I told he where I learned that, she would never let me watch Speed Racer again.
When I’m working on my cars or trucks I sometimes pretend I’m running out of time installing the wings on the Mach five in time to make it to the race. From another great episode “the most dangerous race”. Check it out. Pops has to go to the hospital. It’s a real nail biter.

My brother and I loved Speed Racer, we used to ride our bikes from school as fast we can to catch Speed Racer at 3:30, Channel 52 in Los Angeles. love the car and all of its neat gadgets. loved button A, which made the car jump, Now it memories of simple times growing up. Give anything to live those times again. Love the car great show.

I just looked into it, and reruns of the show began on channel 44 in 1978 when my dad was 10 years old, so that was definitely the same broadcast that you were watching! He showed the cartoon to me with DVDs and it became part of my childhood too. I agree that the mach 5 is a ferrari. When I was in college I read some forums of people discussing what engine it could be. Someone suggested that it was actually a ferrari 312 F1 car. This would make sense since the car debuted in 1966 and the show the next year.

I loved Saturday morning cartoons…. But Speed Racer was always on in the afternoon after school (in Sacramento) when I was growing up.
