This is exactly the inspiration and ideas I needed to start my JJ! My girlfriend and I got together the other day to start our journals, tore out pages from our hardback books, made pockets with the book pages, etc., but I started losing momentum while she forged ahead. I'm a scrapbooker and very visual so needed to see it come to life as I worked. It was always going to be Christmas, but I couldn't figure what all I wanted to do with it even though I have tons of stuff ready to put in and of course, pictures. But your story about how you decided to make your book really rang a bell with me! It was exactly what I needed and your flip through gave me so many ideas for using stuff I had forgotten I even had (ephemera hoarder!) And I realized that I will be happier decorating as I go, instead of "getting the book ready" first. So anyway, thank you for the inspiration and Merry Christmas 2023!
Amy, I have to say how much I love what you are creating - it really speaks to me! I have been collecting a lot of vintage, kitschy ephemera and decor myself, and I didn't know what I was going to do with it, until I found your journals. I purchased your Kittydori sewing pattern course and I am so happy I did! Thank you for all time you spend sharing all the details and your sources as well. I'm am so excited to get started!!
Aww, thank you so much for your kind words, Teresa!! That really means a lot!! Vintage is the best, isn't it?! And thank you for purchasing the course! Please let me know if you ever have any questions! Happy crafting! xo Amy 🤗💕
I know this is a few years old, but I had to comment. I junk journal, and have watched hundreds of junk journaling videos, but this is one of the cute, more creative and original journals I’ve seen. So lovely and simply stunning.
OMG!! I have been watching LOTS of TH-cam videos and your journal is my favorite by far! 💕🥰 It is just amazing. This will be my goal to do one at Christmas 😁🤞🤞 Thx for sharing your junk journal,
This flip through popped up again and I had to watch it. You inspired me to do a Christmas Favorites journal, too and I finished it last year. I had fun looking through it this year and it really means alot to me. I had favorite pictures in it, favorite foods I made at Christmas, Favorite decorations through the years and so much more. I will cherish it so much. Thank you for the idea and the inspiration. I also completed my Simplicity journal through the COVID. I have all my small baby cards in it in the aquas and pinks. Your journal was just beautiful to house them in. Thank you so much.
Hi Madilyn! Happy holidays!! Thank you for sharing that about your Christmas Favorites journal and your Simplicity journals with your baby cards in it!! I just love that! I am sure they are both beautiful! I hope you are doing well and have a happy new year! Thank you for stopping by and sharing your story! xoxo Amy :)
Amy, what a beautiful journal! I think you have beautiful penmanship. Also your kids and generations to come will love having your handwriting in such a personal and beautiful journal that you created full of your favorite Christmas things!
your video just came up on my feed. And WOW, I love love love love this JJ. I just made my first JJ (what took me so long) and it will be a work in progress. I want to make one with some Little Golden Books I recently acquired and I got so many great ideas from just this one video. I plan on looking around some more on your channel. I subscribed.
I love your journal. Have just got into junk journaling and really enjoying it. Do you have a tutorial on how you make one with 4 signatures like this one please and how you join them to the spine. Thank you. X
This video popped up today and I clicked on to see how you decorated your Christmas Favorites journal. I was not disappointed. I loved every page. You decorated so many things I remembered as a child. Thank you for showing us your journal. It made me want to make one from some of my favorite Christmas Golden books. Took pictures of the pages, too. You truly have a gift and am so glad you share it with others.
I love your Christmas book and all the vintage ads and ephemera. I too love KB and friends digi ephemera. I have a lot of it but didn’t know she had new ones. Will have to use for next year. Tfs Amy. Can’t get enough of your books.
What a great idea! I don't want to journal my life but I love to make journals too. A great way to save my favorite papers and such that I have been hoarding...Thank you for the idea! Love your style.

Oh my gosh I loveeeeeee this journal. I love the concept you did and all the beautiful colors and ephemera. It’s a great keepsake. Makes me want to try and do a journal. I went to KB and Friends Etsy and was drooling over all her new printables. Oh boy I feel really excited. You always inspire me. Now I just got to do it lol
Hi Carrie!! Nice to hear from you!! Thank you very much for your li d words! I hope you do make yourself a journal! Did you know I have a Facebook group called Kittywitty Junk Journalers? I am sharing about the making of junk journals in the group in advance of the online class I will have out later this year teaching how to make them. Would love to have you!! Happy new year!! 🤗❤❤❤❤
I love your book!!!! I made my first "vintage Christmas junk journal" last year. I had just discovered the old October Afternoon Christmas papers and scoured Etsy, Ebay, and anywhere else I could get any of it. Really wist they would do a reprint!!! They one I made I did a Christmas Pasts all about my childhood Christmases, but I love love love the idea of my favorites. I think I will start planning for that this year! You gave me tons of ideas! Thank you for sharing your talents!
Hi Jan! I just realized I missed a bunch of YT comments and I'm going back and answering them--even though yours was months ago! :D I always want to answer all comments and questions! Thank you so very much for leaving such a nice comment!! I truly appreciate it!! I really wish they would bring OA back, too!! I'm down to the last of their Christmas papers in my stash! I hope you have fun with your journal this year!! xoxo Amy :)
Thank you, Cristy! Gosh, I find it all over! Anywhere that sells vintage...antique shops, flea markets, and estate sales are probably the best for vintage ephemera in person options. Ebay and Etsy are great for online options! Would you like me to send you a list of my favorite Etsy shops for buying vintage ephemera? It will get you on my email list, too! If you would, just send me an email to kittypapercraft@gmail.com and I will reply back with the list! Have a great day! 🤗💖💖💖💖
Hi Sandy! They are EK Success Sticko brand. I got those at Tuesday Morning last year. I think they carry that brand at the big box craft stores, too! 🤗❤❤❤
So much fun to look through.....so many fun items. One of my favorites are the little books you made from tally card covers....adorable. I would like to know about the word Favorites on your opening page...are those stickers? I love the font. I also purchased those KB ornament box files and it is nice to see another way to use them. Thanks for sharing and your little stories along the way. I know you mentioned your one line journaling, and albeit a great way to go....I try and imagine if I said enough about something so that when I am long gone, will those left behind know why I added that photo or moment. I guess with my mama recently passing away, I wish she had written more about photographs she left behind as in some cases I don't even know who the people are. Also...did you oopsie on the year of your children with santa? (that was just a few years ago and they could not be the ages you said now, lol) anywho, who, thanks again and Happy New Year! gina
Hi Gina! Happy New Year!! Thank you for your nice comment!! The word 'favorite ' on the title page are alpha stickers. They are EK Success Sticko brand I think that brand is at all the major craft stores, although I've had them since last year. Yes, I totally goofed on the year! That should say 2006!! I will change that! Thank you! Great point about leaving the journal for others to see down the road and them wanting to know more about the photos and events!! I can definitely see the value in that! Thanks for the feedback!! 🤗❤❤❤❤
Your journals are all amazing, but it was great to see what you did with it being your personal book. I was wondering where you purchase the thick yarn that you use like we all used in our hair as kids. I don't even know what to call it to search for it. LOL Thanks for sharing so much!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment, Cindy!! The yarn is a little hard to find since it is vintage, but I sometimes find it on ebay! I search for "vintage gift tie yarn." It was originally sold as yarn for wrapping gifts! Good luck! xoxo
I totally LOVE your Christmas journal!! It is exactly the kind of book I would love to do for myself. I love all the kitschy ephemera it is my absolute favorite and your embellishments are adorable as well. What really spoke to me was when you mentioned that you weren't much of a scrapbooker or a journaling type because I am not either which makes it tough to come up with any type of theme. Your idea of making the book about your favorite Christmas things is awesome and gives me new ideas of themes I could use! Thank you so much for sharing this...I would've loved to watch your process as you created the book. I have been collecting journaling things for a couple years now but have never actually made a journal yet! Your book gives me incentive to give it a try! If you have any suggestions about good places to find all those delicious kitschy Christmas images I would love to know....I am a product of the 60s and it totally reminds me of my childhood. Gorgeous journal...awesome theme idea...thanks again!! 🙂🙂🙂
Hi! Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment!! Seems like there are quite a few of us who aren't traditional journalers!! I will certainly be sure to talk more about that! Glad to also know someone else who loves kitschy cute vintage!! I actually put together a list of my favorite Etsy shops to buy vintage ephemera from! Are you on Instagram? You can access the list through the link in my bio there! My IG is kittywittypapercraft. You can also get it from my website, kittywittypapercraft.com. There's a box in the center of the homepage where you can sign up to get the list. Also, if you're interested in n learning how to make junk journals, I have an online class coming out later this year, but in the meantime, I'm doing some teaching in a Facebook group I recently started called, Kittywitty Junk Journalers. We would love to have you join us!! Please let me know if you have any questions! Thank you for stopping by!! 🤗❤❤❤❤
@@KittywittyPapercraft thank you for your quick reply and info. I definitely would love to learn to make a junk journal and I will definitely join your FB group. I think I have an IG account but never really used it because I guess I am not THAT saavy at some social media sites lol. I would love to do more on that site but I honestly don't really understand how it works. I don't post anything so I guess that's why I never really delved into it, but would love to follow some jj related people. Take care and thanks for everything you do!!

Hope to see you around!! xoxo, Amy :)
@@KittywittyPapercraft thanks again Amy! And yes I did join the FB group and I might just have to take you up on the IG help....not too familiar with how it works..Take care! 🙂 Tina
@@kitchenwitch04 Great, Tina!! So glad to have you in my FB group! Please let me know your questions about IG and I will help!! You can ask me here or look me up on IG and ask on any of my posts and I'll see it! Or you can email me at kittywittypapercraft@gmail.com! 🤗❤❤❤❤
Thank you!! I will see what I can do! It is really simple, though! I just use jump rings on some charms and slide them around on a paper clip so they are in the "corner" of the paper clip when you hold it sideways! I'll try to do a little video over the holidays! Happy Holidays!! Amy :)
I don't do December daily either, not enough excited things to document, so this is great. Will you be doing a tutorial on how you attach the pages? Will like to try a junk journal.
Thank you, Maribel! I will have an online class coming out this year that will teach how to make one! I have a Facebook group called, Kittywitty Junk Journalers and I am teaching about junk journals I. there before the class comes out, if youd like to join us! 🤗💕💗💕💗💕
Thank you so much!!! You may have seen my post on IG about those cards? They are like my prized possession! LOL I *may* sell some of the cards at some point, but for now I think I will keep the set in tact! They really are special! Thanks for asking about it!! xoxo
Hi Jeni!! Yes, that has been a plan, but one I have not gotten to! I've never been a journaler, just a journal maker! This December journal is the first one I've ever used! The only other journals I've kept that I have made are 2 of my sewing pattern envelope journals. My plan was to start using one of those, and I just havent been able to find time! My business keeps me so busy I dont have time to craft or journal for myself. I know people really want to see them in use, so I'm going to find. a way to make it happen! Thank you for letting me know youd like to see that!! And I just reread tour question and I think I do remember saying I would suggest different ways you can use journals (not necessarily showing how to use them) and maybe that's what you meant! 😄 That is on my list of topics for our FB group! Either way...thanks for the reminder!! 🤗💕💕💕💕
Hello I am loving your videos and your journals. They are so creative and cute. Have you made a video about how to make the charm dangles? That would be great to see. Thanks
Hi Tanya!! Thank you so much!! I don't have a video for how I make my charm dangles. I'm actually opening up an online website this spring where I will have courses, and I *may* eventually have a course on how I make them! Thank you for asking! 🤗💕💗💕💗💕
Hi Lise! It's a little hard to describe! 😄 There are several ways to do it. You can take about an inch of the left side of the page and fold it around the back of another page and glue it down or you can take 2 book pages, lay them next to each other with just a tiny space between the 2 and use washi tape to connect them down the center, and then add to the signature before sewing. Please let me know if that doesn't answer your question!! 🤗❤❤❤❤
This is beautiful …. I loved the story about your son in his pjs and boots … my 2nd son had little quirks like that … such fun memories !!!! He is now 30 and has a son of his own …. Too fast ….. I want to make a journal for my grandson …. Thank you for your content …. Any thoughts on creating an interactive Christmas journal for a toddler ?
Aww thank you!! Yes, time goes so fast! For the journal you asked about making...you could create a journal with lots of pockets and envelopes and tuck spots bc it's fun to hide things and pull things out. You could add picture flash cards in the pockets or alphabet letters or similar educational items appropriate for his age. You could also add photos of family members and long distance relatives or ones who have passed on and as he pulls each one out, you could tell him stories about them. Hope that helps! Thank you for watching! 🤗💖💖💖💖
Hey there, I love junk journals however I don’t know how to use them for since am not a real scrapbooker or a person that like to journal about anything I guess. So you think is a good idea to get a junk journal class to learn how to make them? I seen many videos but i learn hands on. Is like intimidating I feel like I seen so much that I can’t do anything if you understand what I mean. Your Journal is super gorgeous by the way.
Hi! Thank you for watching and asking your question! If you want to try making a junk journal, it is definitely a good idea to learn how through a class! There are TH-cam channels that have tutorials that show you how to make them (search TH-cam for "how to make a junk journal). I do have an online course that teaches how to make the style of journal in the video. I go step by step so it is not intimidating. It costs $39 and you can watch and go at your own pace. The website where you can find the class is kittywittyacademy.podia.com No obligation of course! Thank you for your kind words! Best of luck to you!! xo Amy
I absolutely love this journal its the epitome of Christmas. You really captured all the things i remembered as a child. I love love everything. I hope you make another one this year 2020. I'm going to subscribe so I don't miss it if you do. Thanks for sharing your beautiful journal its inspired me, I'm going to make one like it! Thank you!☃️🎄🤍
Hi Rox Angel! Thank you so much for your kind words and for subscribing!! I *think* I'm going to make one this year! I am also going to be selling junk journal kits for Christmas so people can make their own! I love Christmas! I hope you have a magical holiday season!! 🤗❤❤❤❤
Amy this journal is absolutely STUNNING! I love how you used it a made it a 'favorite' all about Christmas. 💖 Can you show how you bind your signatures together? p.s. I think your handwriting is pretty, I saw it towards the end of your journal. 💕
Thank you SO much, Cathy!! I am in the process of creating an online class that teaches how to make this type of junk journal, which will, of course, include how to bind it! I am hoping to have it out this summer! In the meantime, I am talking about junk journals in my Facebook group, Kittywitty Junk Journalers, if you'd like to join us! There are a lot of things to learn about junk journals and we are covering those things in the group before the class comes out which will focus, primarily, on how to build the cover and do the binding. Would love to have you!! 🤗❤❤❤❤
what adhesive do you use for chunky stuff and for the ribbons? everything looks adhered so nicely! I could watch this over and over! Love the vintage ephemera!
love your books so much!! Did you mean 2006 on the page with the polaroids of your kids when they were little? 2016 was only a little over 3 years ago.
I’m trying to make one right now. But, I keep hearing makers saying there are “signatures” in their junk journals, but I have no clue what that means. I’m guessing it’s not an autograph?😂 Help! Love your work!
Hi Jennifer! Thank you for your kind words about my work! In any type of book making, pages are put into the book in groups called signatures. A book can have one or many signatures. A signature is a group of pages that are actually wide sheets that have been stacked on top of each other and folded in half, and then sewn together. In junk journal making, we take that group of folded sheets (the pages) and sew them directly into the spine we have built. Traditional book makers usually sew the signatures down the center and then glue the outer edge where they are folded and sewn, into the spine. I know this can sound confusing! Each junk journal maker does it somewhat differently, but I usually make my journals with a 1.5" or 2" spine and 4 signatures. Each signature has between 6 and 8 sheets to it. I'm not calling them pages, because before they are pages, they are flat. They become pages after you fold them. So for example, say one signature has 6 sheets. The 6 sheets may be made up of a piece of scrapbook paper, a song lyric sheet, a cookbook page, a children's book page, a dictionary page, and a catalog page. You would trim each sheet so it was slightly less wide all around than the journal cover when laid open, and then fold each sheet in half and then nest the pages all together. They will look like a little book that you can open in the center. That is one signature. You would open the signature and poke holes in the crease where it is folded, as well as poke holes in the spine that correspond with the holes in the signature, and use waxed linen thread and a 3 inch needle and sew the signature into the spine. You repeat that whole process for each signature. I've simplified the instructions a bit, but that is basically how you do it! I do have an online video course that is self paced and for absolute beginners that shows how to create a cover using a Little Golden Book and how to sew in the signatures. I go slowly step by step, explaining each step thoroughly. It is $37. Absolutely no pressure!! I just wanted to share that because I know it's sometimes easier to see it demonstrated in a video than reading an explanation! 😄 IF you are interested, you can check out the details at www.kittyacademy.podia.com Again, no pressure! Thank you for stopping by and checking out my videos! I truly appreciate it! Best of luck to you!! 🤗💕
Thank you for your kind words about the journal! I'm sorry you thought the video was too long for a flip-through. So many people told me they wanted me to share more about what I did for each page and not to rush through the flip-throughs like I always did, so that's what I tried to do here. So hard to please everyone! 😄 Good thing I'm not making journals or videos any longer! 😄 💕🤗💕
Oh ok! Thank you for the feedback. I always get so many questions, I think I was trying to anticipate what people would want to know about the journal. I'm sorry that ruined the experience for you (and likely, orhers, too!). I will remember that for future videos! 🤗💗💗💗
I’m sorry I really should not have said that I think I was just impatient to see the journal ignore me and accept my apologies the journal is fabulous x
@@Sharrianna Aww, it's ok! Thank you for your apology! I appreciate that. I know from watching YT videos that you sometimes just want to see the flip-through and don't care about the details! 😄 And as a creator, you want to anticipate what the viewer might want to know (how something was done, where you got something). And that video was a year old and I was even more nervous making videos then, than I am now! 😄 Hopefully, I've learned to make better videos since then. Thank you for your kind words about the journal! I hope you have a great day!! 🤗💕💗💕💗💕

Ebay and Etsy are great for online options! Would you like me to send you a list of my favorite Etsy shops for buying vintage ephemera? It will get you on my email list, too! If you would, just send me an email to kittypapercraft@gmail.com and I will reply back with the list! Have a great day! 🤗💖💖💖💖
Stunning
Thank you so very much!! 🤗❤❤❤
where did you get the great colored letters????? SO fun to see....Sandy
Hi Sandy! They are EK Success Sticko brand. I got those at Tuesday Morning last year. I think they carry that brand at the big box craft stores, too! 🤗❤❤❤
Started watching it with my kids going to have to watch it later with a very cute ideas love the things you picked it came out great👍🏻😽🌲
Thank you so much!! 🤗❤❤❤❤
such a fun Christmas book! Thanks for sharing!
It’s beautiful!
Thank you, Arlene!!! xoxo Amy :)
@@kitchenwitch04 Hey again! I think you joined the FB group! It's sometimes hard to remember! I hope so! There is a nice crafting community on IG! what an awesome keepsake! love it!
Thank you so much, Renee!! 🤗💕💕💕💕
I love your “favorites” journal! A great idea for someone who doesn’t journal much like me.
Thank you, Cathy!! Good to know there are other people who love journals, but don't keep them in a traditional way! 🤗❤🎄❤🎄❤
I’d love to see how you made the jingle! It’s adorable!
I want one of those chicken Christmas cards. I wish you had one for sale!!! I love love this junk journal. It's so sweet!
Thank you so much!!! You may have seen my post on IG about those cards? They are like my prized possession! LOL I *may* sell some of the cards at some point, but for now I think I will keep the set in tact! They really are special! Thanks for asking about it!! xoxo
What a gorgeous journal!
Thank you so very much, Mindy!! I appreciate you checking it out! Happy holidays!! xoxo Amy :)
So sweet.
Thank you!! 🤗❤❤❤
Hi Amy! I love your Journal, it's beautiful!
Thank you for your kind comment, Linda!! xoxo Amy :)
Don’t know how I found you, but you are awesome. So happy it happened,,,,happy morning.
Hi Barbara!! Welcome!! Thank you so much for your kind words! Glad to have you here!! 🤗❤❤❤❤
Amy in this video you mentioned making a video about how to use your junk journals. I would love to see that if you get a chance. Thanks!
I am curious how do you sew the signatures in among the book pages.
@@KittywittyPapercraft thank you 😊 I look forward to binge watching your channel
@@susanspisak65 Aww, thank you, Susan!! I truly appreciate it!! 🤗💖💖💖
Thank you!!! I use permanent double sided tape and glue dots for most things! 🤗❤❤❤❤
Love this! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you, Susan!! 🤗💕💗💕💗
Love this.
Thank you, Stephanie!! 🤗❤❤❤❤
This journal is incredible! You did an amazing job. I love it! TFS!
Thank you SO much, Rovelyn!! 🤗❤❤❤❤
love your books so much!! Did you mean 2006 on the page with the polaroids of your kids when they were little? 2016 was only a little over 3 years ago.
Thank you!! And oh my gosh, yes!! I meant 2006!! I totally missed that I did that! 😄 Thank you for letting me know! Now I can fix it! 🤗❤❤❤❤
Awesome
Love, love, love this! 😍❤️😍
Thank you so much, Charlotte!! 🤗❤🎄❤🎄❤

@@gloria785 Thank you for sharing your opinion! Guess it's a good thing I stopped making journals and videos. 🙂
Love your book, but i think this is too long of a video for a flip through. ❤
Don’t want to be rude but you talk and dilly dally far too much the journal is lovely but the talking talking talking ruin it
