- Patti Page sang this version of "Unchained Melody" in a 1966 TV appearance. A previous hit for both Al Hibbler and the Righteous Brothers, it was one of Page's favorites, and she included it in her Grammy Award-winning 1997 Carnegie Hall performance, 30 years later! Her longtime musical director Rocky Cole is on piano. Music by Alex North and music by Hy Zaret.

Great version. Great singer. Great Woman. Patti Page and Shirley Bassey have to be the two greatest middle of the road/pop song female singers of all time. Different to each other but both brilliant.

She never got to record it until her Grammy-winning 1997 Carnegie Hall CD.
First I heard her song in 1950s (Tennessee Waltz) from local radio broadcasting in Bandung Indonesia. Her voice so smooth.

first time i heard this was at scott field air force base 1950
I have been waiting years to hear this beautiful song sung properly and I finally have, thanks to Patti Page! I saw the film many years ago, and the "Unchained" melody has stayed with me ever since. I'm afraid that I feel that The Righteous Brothers murdered it!
I always why this song was always recorded in an uptempo. Due to the sad lyrics, I always felt it should have been a slow sad ballad. yet, it became a very big hit.

In 1966 color tv certainly didn’t look this good. This video has really held up.
The NTSC transmission standard did not do justice to early color video. Watch 'An Evening with Fred Astaire' to see how good tape could be even in 1958.
