I love Steve Martin films. I just watched dirty rotten scoundrels yesterday. I can't believe I've never heard of this movie, and all the comments are saying its one of his best.
@@johnpatz8395 I'm going to look it up. I still haven't watched it and my comment is from a year back. Thanks for the recommendation. Is it one of his best? On par with the three amigos ect?
if i recall that's actually a remake i do not remember who did the Original but the (1988) film is a fucking classic as is My Blue Heaven (1990) damn i miss seeing Steve Martin put movies out like he used to. i know he's almost 80 now but still. also check out The Jerk (1979) the Man with Two Brains (1983) All of Me (1984) Roxanne (1987) if you want to see other great Steve Martin films.
I believe Martin was originally supposed to play Coopersmith before someone backed out of Vinny's role. I'm so glad it worked out that way. Martin killed it!
One of the funniest movies of all time, especially if your Italian!!! Many great classic movie lines like 1. The Shoes are Tragic!! 2. Arugula, it's a vegetable! 3. What the frig is this? It's a pop-over!!! and many many others!!!
I think Dana Scutty was inspired by Clarice Starling of Silence of the Lambs. After that movie a LOT of federal agent women had the same clothes, haircut, job, education, etc. My guess is that when a movie like Silence wins all the awards and makes a ton of money and is really popular, Hollywood tries to cash in for the next 8 years using every angle.
I remember when they were filming down the street from my buddies on the streets named after native Americans here in Paso Robles California. And then City Hall in Atascadero California.
The meeting/reunion of mobsters in exile meeting in suburban witness protection , under FBI surveillance...funny as heck!!! Priceless super market scene .🤔😃😎
Think they should do the retired mafia living in Florida , with Pesci , then travel to vegas setting up a gentlemans club , called? " the quiet one , where all the bets go down . With a hidden tunnel under the desert ,where they discover a German world war 2 tank filled with stolen Nazi gold 😎😎 also staring Chevy chase , Martin short,
The supermarket scene is still the funniest, isn't it? The employee saying "Have a nice day" to Steve, as he's walking INTO the store, lol "Good morning sir, would you like a vanilla oat crunchie?" "Whaddayou think??" (In middle of frickin store) "Have a nice day" "Fuck you!" "How was your shopping experience, sir? Was there anything you need which we don't have?" "Arugula" "Arugula? What's that?" "It's a veg-e-table!" Oh, and Steve handing the cashier $100 bill and the cashier flipping out about it like he'd never before seen one up close while Steve rolls his eyes, lol And the court scene in New York when Steve is on the stand saying about his small town environment "..don't get me wrong, the air is clean, the people are nice, but for me, a guy who grew up on the streets of the city that never sleeps, it's a living hell!", and the other New Yorkers in the jury are looking at him so sympathetically as if they'd feel exactly the same way if they too had to be stuck in that horrible clean friendly small town (lol). Only New Yorkers. Only in New York.
My Blue Heaven was a fantastic sequel to Goodfellas.
One of the best mob movies ever made!

Thanks for uploading this! I love Steve Martin, and My Blue Heaven happens to be one of my favorite movies.
30 years later during Covid, comedians actually performed at Drive-Ins quite regularly.
Damn, he's sarcastic here! This is definitely my era Steve Martin!

Steve was born looking middle-aged!
Merengue Scene or Grocery Store Scene
I've always thought that Joan Cusack in My Blue Heaven was the inspiration for Dana Scully in the XFiles
Interesting idea.
Joan Cusack is just John Cusack in drag.
actually the sports Announce Vic Scully i think his name was? he died a year or two ago he was the Inspiration and where the name Scully came from.
