- In this video I show how to upgrade the firmware on your Apple MagSafe battery pack using a MacBook Pro. Pretty much plug and play! The newest firmware increases the charging speed to 7.5w
just upgraded my battery pack... I noticed it charged a bit faster right away. Makes me appreciate grabbing it over the other third party options.
yup pretty cool update! have you noticed a lot more heat coming off it in your use?
@@KaziIslam not really, seems about the same. I’m going to try something more intensive like shooting 4K video or gaming to see how it manages.
I plugged it into my iPad Pro and sure enough, 5 minutes later it updated. I notice that the charging speed is faster now on my iPhone 13 mini. Already love this battery pack, but now I love it even more! Such a great combo with the 13 mini.
It really is so perfect with the mini!
My iPad has a lightning port so I can’t update
@@sp2435 just leave the battery pack attached to your iPhone then. It will eventually update. You can also attach it via lightning cable to a Mac to update it faster if you have have option.
@@JayCatterson I left it attached to the phone over Wi-Fi for two weeks. Nothing.
@@sp2435 bring it to the Apple Store? Or borrow a friend’s Mac or usb-C iPad for 5 minutes? If it doesn’t update after that you should contact apple.
Can you PLEASE show us how to do this with an iPad? It says on Apples website that you can do it with a Mac or iPad, and I only have an iPad.. plesse help!
do you have an ipad with USB-C? i believe that is the only way with an ipad, using the USB-C to lightning cable simply attach the battery pack to your ipad and it should take about 5 minutes to update. If your ipad has a lightning port and you don't have a mac your best bet is to just use your battery pack as normal and it'll eventually update silently over the air.
Hope that helps, lemme know if it works!
Returned to Amazon. Never would update firmware
Why i can't find battery pack in general during connected it with my iphone 13pro max
Hmm is the battery pack fully charged? It should show up under general-about
Por que não é original
Interesting. I had my battery in normal use for a week - didn’t update. Also connected to usbc on my MacBook - left it connected for hours few times. I’m still on 2.5.b.0
I would check if each of your connected devices (iPhone/mac/iPad) are on their latest respective firmware versions as well
@@KaziIslam yes they were. Actually what helped - I restored my iPhone while battery pack was connected. After restart firmware number did update. So I’m not sure if info was not visible, or it actually didn’t update.
great video
My version says 2.0.2c.0 is this new?
no that's an older version, the newest firmware will be 2.7.b
How many days does it take to update if attached to phone
Apple documentation says it’ll take up to a week from just normal use
@@KaziIslam should we connect it daily with phone till a week?
Tried it with both mac and iphone for a couple days now but doesnt seem to work for me:/
Hmm are all the devices on the latest versions of their software? Phone, iPad and Mac?
Can someone help I’m just at a lost, I connected to my iPad and it been like a day or more that left it connected and it just stop working doesn’t up update or nothing it does not want to get charge or give charge ,I’m just think of return it because I can’t find a solution for it
Oh man, if it got bricked I think best is to take it to an apple store to check out. There’s no buttons or anything to even force a reset, I’m not sure what else to suggest in this case. Best of luck!
I returned my battery pack because I found that while using my phone it would not charge, and my battery would acc go down instead of up. I assumed that was because it was charging at 5W and I was using more power than the pack could give. I'm wondering if this new update fixes this, please someone let me know?
I can confirm that it does charge while casual using. I have used it while playing TH-cam and browsing social/web so nothing too intensive and the iPhone gained charge despite using the MagSafe with it. I will test charging while using the camera though as that’ll be more intensive and running the camera causes the phones to heat up on its own, but overall it seems like the battery is holding up great
That’s the same thing that’s happening to me , it’s having trouble charging the phone so I hope the update can fix it
How can you update with windows? If at all…
I don't believe there's any way through windows. if you don't have a macOS or iPadOS device your best bet is to just use the battery back normally and it'll update over the air
So you don't need itunes open to update?
Yup no iTunes or any app update at all. Once it’s connected to your iPad/MacBook it gets updated silently within minutes just by keeping it connected
This firm ware thing won’t come up think I have a fake from eBay 😩
Wow I’m surprised there are knock offs. Although I guess I shouldn’t be
Didn’t work for me on my MacBook Pro
i'd check that your macbook is on it's latest software version as well and give it a shot? otherwise just use the magsafe battery as normal it should update on its own
Is this a good buy for the 13 pro max and how much will it charge it from 0%?
From 0% I got up to around 40-45% on my max. So it will definitely be good to get you another work day’s worth of use depending on what you’re doing but I didn’t find it too useful with the max. The plus side is the max battery is already so amazing it’s as if the MagSafe battery is already built in, I never needed to top off my battery with the max whereas on the mini I usually charge up at least once sometime during the day so get through comfortably to the end of the night
@@KaziIslam thanks for the reply.
I have a 13 pro max and my battery pack will usually take my battery from 0 to 50-60%
@@airjoshy yeah that sounds about right, and on the pro max that's enough to last almost another full day depending on use. it really is a battery beast
Can this work with a MacBook that doesn’t have a USB C port or does it need to be lightning to USB?
It’ll work over regular USB A as well
Doesn’t work for me
iPhone case?
It’s apple’s golden brown leather case, my favorite color and case this year
Thanks for the video
If I update this battery pack can I get that 7.5w speed on the qi charging for older devices? Or are they still locked to the 5w Qi speed regardless of firmware?
Yes you should get the 7.5w on any device that supports that speed of wireless charging. Most of the older iPhones that support qi do support 7.5w I believe, that’s been the previous max wireless charging speed
yeah did it
I don't have a mac or ipad
yeahh if you have neither then you can just keep using the battery pack as normal and the update will be pushed silently over the air
