Beautifully said. Fell in love with MTG in 2010 and FaB feels like it's harkening back to that era of Magic with its own super unique and fun as hell game system. Can't stop drafting FaB man 🔥
Just sold my entire MTG collection to jump 100% into Flesh and Blood and I have no regrets, best decision I made last year! This game is such a masterpiece!
I loved playing MTG during 2010-2015 and specially modern during my last few years. I was thinking about giving it another go but heard about Flesh and Blood, asked my LGS about it but they didn't have a scene. I asked one of the local players if they could show me how to play anyways so I could see if it was worth my time as an occasional hobby with the few local players. They said yes they would show me, but they decided to make a learn to play event, the store gave a discount on the blitz decks for that day and tried to get as many people as possible to go. We have had armory events every week since, most of those over 12 players, showed so much support for the game that the other store started hosting armories as well on another day and a new store that was going to have mostly minis and boardgames decided to have FaB as well. I fell in love with it and so did the entire town. I started with Azalea (during Dynasty) and played her all the way until Heavy Hitters when I started playing Kano. I might already change for Oscilio or Verdance, but I'll keep my Kano deck close, it is too much fun. Flesh and Blood is truly an amazing game and I'm happy to see that more people are playing it than ever before and it keeps growing.
Thanks so much for watching! There were some really interesting mentions in the comments. It's a great idea to make a series to recognise some of the greats!
My top 10: 1- Duelist of The Roses (unfortunately you can't play physically and online) 2- Inscryption 3- Gwent 4- Pokémon 5- Flash and Blood 6- Aykikard (a card game from my country, it has a TH-cam channel, I highly recommend checking it out, it's brilliant) 7- Calamandara (another game from my country, it is an evolution of Senet, much more complex, I highly recommend it) 8- Battle Scenes (another card game from my country, it's a game from the Marvel universe, I'm sure Americans would love to play) 9- Chaotic 10- Uno (playing as a double is even better)
Pot of Greed as green goblin is hilarious lol (am I reading that bit right?) I am a big Digimon player. I've played every game on this list and the art, deck variety, cost, and gameplay of digimon tickles me just right.
Criminally underrated channel !! It was nice hearing some positive takes on YuGiOh for a change, the game has issues but sometimes we can be too self-hating as a playerbase 😅
5:42 good point dragonball: curious to know the game is so complex. that is not what i would associate to DB. was it always like that or did it evolve to that? yugioh... so what of these games actually innovates the genre?
I don't believe DBS CG started as complex as it became, it was something it evolved into. I think the most innovative from the list has to be FAB. It's pretty much it's own system that didn't really take much inspiration from the foundation that Richard Garfield created 30 years ago with MTG. You should give it a show! Thanks so much for watching 😁
Yo man I've been playing magic for 7 years and yugioh for almost 20. They are by far my favorite games of all time, and one of the only issues I've had in the magic community is anytime yugioh is mentioned. The insane stigma, sometimes pure hatred, I've seen from a small number of magic players towards yugioh as a game is kinda crazy and off-putting, especially on the internet. Thank you so much for giving yugioh some deserved props! I've played 9 TCGs over a year each and yugioh and magic are the only ones I've played that really scratch that itch for me
The biggest criticisms I hear about ygo from my mtg community is it's power creep and prevelance of OTKs. They then turn to play their CEDH decks against each other and ninjutsu blightsteel collosus out on turn 2. Hater gonna hate dude. Thanks so much for watching!
@@GatheringGames yeah yugioh is my competitive game and magic is the game I play when I just wanna have a few beers with the buds. They feel like at this point they're both going for a different audience and that's okay. They can both exist and be valid games ya know. Great vid, you got a new subscriber.... I wanna try FaB now...
@@goncaloferreira6429 it's super complex and has a really tough barrier to entry but when you get past the learning curve it offers something literally no other game can give.... But if a friend asks to learn how to play I ask them if they're down to learn magic instead lol. It's really a game that requires that they want something complex and magic just has more variety in whatever level you want to play at
Can't say I agree with the take on Yu-Gi-Oh, however the video as a whole was amazing! Great job guys. You should also check out the Final Fantasy card game if possible!
@@GatheringGames it has SOME similarities to MTG. It does use or sort of mana card, but these mana cards are also characters from the game that also have their own effects when entering or being tapped. Also, you can only have up to 5 of them. You CAN also just toss cards from your hand to generate the mana, which helps with playing the game. Also no LP. Every time you take a hit, the top card from your deck is flipped and set aside. Sometimes an effect can pop off from doing that which makes it exciting.
I say take of yugioh add one piece If his reasons are mostly price card balancing and how much the creators listen to the community yugiog has no place on here and should 100 percent be replaced by one piece
Sorry to burst your bubbles, but that's because in Europe and even in Japan no one gives a damn about One Piece TCG, except a few very dedicated fanatical collectors, especially in Europe where people doesn't really care about One Piece to begin with. The world is not just about the US. Although I agree that YGO has no right to be on any TCG TopX lists. I'd easily replace it with Pokémon, as its influence is undeniable.
@Gwinnmusic I mostly agree with that pokemon is the largest driver of in-person sales at card stores worldwide Although one piece is definitely bigger than digital and flesh and blood in basically everywhere
The list is just the opinion of 2 chaps, not a best seller list, or largest player base list. That list would be much different. Regardless, thanks so much for watching and leaving a comment 😁
Digimon is my ask tube favorite rn. Only really okay commander for mtg, competitive scene there just isn't for me. I like keeping up with digimon sets because i want the new tools, not needing to pick up new sets because my old cards are being rotated out so i have to keep up. FaB seems really interesting though and i think i wasn't too try it soon.
Are you familiar with Sorcery: Contested realm? If so, what's your opinion. If not, you should check it out. It's design seems to appeal to a lot of MTG players.
I am aware of it and have seen a lot of MTG players talking about it. It doesn't have really wide reach here in the UK, but I'd be keen to try it once we can stock it more reliably in our store :D
@@GatheringGames Yea, it's slim pickins from what i've heard, especially in europe. There is a store in europe that bought a bunch of beta from the main american supplier and will be selling it in europe for close to msrp. I believe Cardboard guide is having a youtube livestream in about 13 hours with that store owner to tell people where they can get it. It's new so im not surprised. But i really like the game so far. Thanks for the reply!
in yugioh you have 24 years of cards to play with ... well if you exclude the Banned list / limited list. And while it's true that THEORETICALLY you have a HUGE complex of Decks to play and archetypes.... most of them are unplayable on higher level of play. So you basically still have always 10 decks at the tops and the other dump way down there and can't compete not even on local level. it also has THE biggest hurdle for new players to get into.
Love the video pretty strongly agree with most points the one things i will say is yugioh shouldnt be on this list konami america is terrible at listening to its player base Consistently cards will be shifted up in rarity causing decks to be insanely expensive On top of that it has so many tier 0 format where essentially one deck is the 50% or more of the meta and often these tier 0 decks are 1000 or more because of rarity shifts
I didn't watch the whole vid but it looks like they're considering the game on its own merits without factoring cost. As for the tier 0 format, tbh standard in MTG can feel like that sometimes. He did acknowledge the problem of power creep but if you take away cost, there's an undeniable richness, complexity and fast-paced fun that keeps it popular.
@kwokziyi4937 the reason he said magic isn't on there is power level issues, pricing and wizards not listening to community My point is yugioh has been doing all these things and doing the more than wizards I have closely followed both games for over 20 years now and yugioh has a lot more imbalance I card design and I'm gameplay And when I say yugioh cost it's not just about how much a deck is compare the same deck in tcg to the deck in ocg for years now the ocg has there deck at fractions of the cost because tcg upshifts rarity and lowers pull rates of rare cards konami america are actually awful And if you're talking about complexity magic definitely has more of it than yugioh and has formats that are just as fast paced you play vintage and its just as fast paced as yugioh with more complexity Don't get me wrong i love yugioh but the game has always been the most imbalanced popularized card game with poor business practices I do get why the game is still here but magic is thriving just the same my entire point is there is no world that yugioh is a better game than magic especially in the tcg
The feedback Konami got from the rarity collection seems really positive. I don't really follow the OCG so much, but I've been told rarity collection more closely aligned to the OCG in terms of rarity. Hopefully it's sign of changes to come for the TCG! Thanks so much for watching! Never thought we'd even get 100 views on it, never mind 1k!! Lots more comment to come 😁
Damn OPTCG done dirty. I hseto play competitive MTG but OPTCG become my game as choice as WOTC killed off competitive MTG. OPTCG competitive scene at least in my city is thriving.
