Awesome post. I just got some footage from Rahway Station I need to upload. It will be my first railfanning post. This is close to me. My sister in law works Rear Brake on that line for NJT.
It also serves as a car defect indicator. When the Train isn't in approach, one of those lights will turn red if something is wrong with the car. Superliners on Amtrak long distance trains have these to, however they are located near the wheel boot.
What do the Green, Yellow and Red lights on the side of Bombardier Multi-levels stand for? They were all green until the train approached the station and then turned all yellow except for the one on the very last car.
NJT SUCKS for abandoning the ALP-44's, which are perfectly good power. They are wasting their money on ALP-46A's, which cost $6 million per unit; they NEVER needed the 46A's, and it's a waste of power on Comet sets! Basically, they took a gamble that they should not have taken.

It has to do with the doors. Im not to familiar. I do know Green is when all doors are closed.
It's interesting in how they used a ALP-46A to haul a single-level train.
