    My Dad loved to listen to jazz in the 70s...people would come over and we would go over my aunt's house. 1975-76 Bob James.. touchdown..taxi.. bj3..bj4. I'm 52 and can't do my morning routine without this happy music. Some rapper is going to realize every beat, sample, hook... everything comes from the bible of Bob James

    BJ at his best in the late 70's & early 80's. This song reminds me of a now departed friend, who I grew up with. It was our special jam and oh boy, we really danced to this tune.

    I remember when I stumbled upon this record when I was working at our record store. This one older gentleman came in, one of our regulars and an old Jazz head, he pulled it out and asked me to throw it on. He was like man I know you, you got to hear this you'll love it. I did and was was completely blown away. I remember when the flutes came in saying What the heck IS THIS?!?! He was like "maaaan I tell you, Bob James is a baaad dude"

    I find this album a gem. It is very rarely mentioned in jazz circles due to the snobbery around fusion music. James is the undisputed master - Westchester Lady need I say more 😎

    • @excrono
      @excrono 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      His albums are also not very desirable on the market (using Discogs for reference). I have zero clue why the jazz purists have given his albums a bad reputation. Sadly they might now sound dated to younger generations. But he’s been sampled heavily by modern rap and hip hop artists and they might be oblivious.
      If they haven’t come appreciate 70s music yet.

    • @mrdaynes1
      @mrdaynes1 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@excrono I totally agree! I'm not a purist myself but simply a fan of great music (plus a part time musician). Yes, songs like Nautilus are heavily sampled. I watched Breaking Bad a few years back and couldn't believe it when Feel Like Making Love popped up when Walt wandered naked in the supermarket lol... at least Vince Gilligan has good taste lol. James is a genius in my view 😎
