The percussion guy (on the tambourine) was the legend that is Ray Cooper - veteran of MANY Clapton & Mark Knopfler tours, amongst others.
One of music’s great eccentrics 👏🏼👏🏼

Ray Cooper is an absolute legend. I can't believe I saw him in Toronto twice in the last couple of years. Once, with Eric Clapton, and the other time-- of COURSE, was on Elton John's farewell tour. A couple of years ago there was a two-man tour that Elton John embarked on. Who do you suppose he took with him? A guitar player? bass player? Drummer maybe? At this stage of his career it's safe to say he could hire anyone he wanted.
Who did he take? His best mate from the very beginning of his 50-year career: Ray. F@$#ing. Cooper.
I don't know how good you have to be as a percussionist to get the #2 spot in the band of all these people. But Ray is that man. I'm privileged to have been here at the same time as a lot of these legends. But Elton John, Clapton, Paul McCartney: those are mainstream celebrities as well as top musicians. I would't consider Ray Cooper a "celebrity" in the same way. But every musician who has ever worked in rock & roll knows him. He's a celebrity among the most talented people in his field.

I saw Eric during this tour in 1991. It was the best concert I've ever seen... He shook the entire building, then finished it off with about an hour of cream songs.

But I agree, the solo on this version was one of the better ones.
In terms of his post-Cream work, the tours with Mark Knopfler (slightly before this one?) were perhaps his best as a solo artist - but this run was great too.

Great review, Harri, and an excellent performance by EC. This was from the Journeyman tour.
In my opinion the line-up for the previous tour (EC's 25th anniversary tour) was better because Mark Knopfler was second guitarist. On this performance it was Phil Palmer (who ironically played on the Dire Straits 1991 World Tour with Knopfler as well). On the 25th Anniversary tour, I think the band was joined in Japan by Elton John on keyboards.

This is the nastiest song since the live version of NSU in 1968. Here, when Clapton plays his E shape Barre chord (minor chords?) he has to lift his middle finger off the fretboard and it looks like he flipping us off. He does it all of the time, obviously but it's very pronounced on this video for some reason.
