Whenever I listen to this song, it brings back my old memories. When this song came out, I lived in Huntington Beach, CA, and during the weekends, I used to drive to Long Beach. I had this song playing in the car and drove along Pacific Coast Highway to Hollywood. I missed the fun I had in Venice Beach, Long Beach, and Huntington Beach. Whenever i listen to this song, I get emotional!
Songs like this bring me back to the time when my wife and I were first married. She was such a beautiful woman with so much love. We had all these plans and dreams. Plans and dreams seem to spiral out of control. We lose track of time. I have been a widow for 5 years now. It seems like yesterday I hear this and wish there was a reset button in life
You're lucky to have had such a wonderful woman to call your wife. I don't believe life ever goes the way we plan or expect. I thought as I aged the disappointments would lessen, the playing field would even out. But instead, I find myself feeling everything more keenly than before. If only there WAS a reset button. We can only do what we think is best at any given time. All of life is a crap shoot. I hope that you're doing okay and that the sting of her loss eases for you. Be good to yourself!
I lost my first born son in a car accident on the way to work in October. I heard this song on a tv show today, and it instantly brought me to tears. First time we heard this song was on our way to the MOA back in 2004 (I believe). It's amazing how a song can instantly take you back to a moment in time.
"I'd like to tell you it gets easier. it doesn't. If there's any... comfort, it's... getting used to the pain, I suppose. Went to a grief seminar in Casper. Did you know that? I don't know why. Just wanted the bad to go away. Wanted answers... to questions that couldn't be answered. The counselor come up to me after the seminar and sat down next to me. And he said something that stuck with me. I don't know if it's what he said, or how he said it. He says, "I got some good news, and I got some bad news. Bad news is you're never gonna be the same. You're never gonna be whole, not ever again. You lost your daughter. Nothing's ever going to replace that. Now the good news is, as soon as you accept that, and you let yourself suffer... you allow yourself to visit her in your mind, and you'll remember all the love she gave you, all the joy she knew." Point is, Martin, you can't steer from the pain. If you do, you'll rob yourself... You'll rob yourself of every memory of her. Every last one. From her first step to her last smile. Kill 'em all. Just take the pain, Martin. You hear me? You take it. It's the only way you'll keep her with you." from a movie called "wind river"
@@wendyallen9089, I have found myself able to sit for an hour or so, and comprehend what I read. I am currently reading a book written by nine mothers who lost their children "Beyond Tears". Much of what you said is exactly what they say...and many of them are out 10 years or more from their loss. There is the YOU that you use to be, and that person is gone. Now, you have to learn to live with the loss for the rest of your life and find the YOU you're comfortable with. I am so incredibly sorry for the loss of your daughter. The loss of a child goes beyond any other loss there is. I lost my first husband unexpectedly, and my only sissy to murder....as much as the loss of both of them changed me, this is a loss like no other. Wendy Elise, I find great comfort in your words, and I thank you (from the bottom of my heart) for sharing with me.
Lol, I'm a young kid, at the age of only 14, a freshman in high school. Listening to this song, as a 7 year old, I thought the tune was awesome, and the vocals were spot on. I loved the song. I learned it on the guitar. Now, growing up with the song, I've deciphered the legitimate meaning of the lyrics, and I can safely say that I'm blessed to have learned it on the guitar back then, because now, I can seriously sing to this song with such passion and meaning like I should have been all this time. It took me 6 years to do that to a song like this. It could probably take me 2 seconds to decipher the meaning of any pop song nowadays. #WhereHasTheMusicGone
I remember when i was a kid, growing up when alternative rock was mainstream. I never really appreciated it until now, with all the pop crap that gets more attention than songs similar to this. It's so sad.

This song takes me back to simpler times just a different feel to the world during that time. First song I learned to play on guitar. Man oh man I miss those days
I just had to play this today. I was watching the TV show "Cold Case" earlier this afternoon and they closed the show with this song, sung by Howie Day. I had seen him do it in person at the Fox Theater in St. Louis some years ago, and it's always been one of my favorites. I'm glad it's still being used and hope he gets more measures of success for its "staying power". What a good song! (Talk about "First Impressions, Howie").THANKS!
good music never gets old it still stays alive in our hearts. I love many songs from the 70s and 80s. ex, many bands of the original of Metal, punk, and rock. I like so many songs that releases before I was born about 30 years. They're grandpa's band Hahaha

I love this song, it is absolutely timeless 👍🏾❤️
I agree 💯%
It is a song among songs that affects you the same way it did the first time ever hearing it, every time you hear it...
I saw him play at my college in 1999. It was a room with 10 people and him and he was great
Wow. That's the kind of concerts i love. The intimate ones

Love this song♥️♥️
When life was so much more simpler back then. Miss the early 2000s.
Let's go back
You know a lot of people say that, but the early 2000s were also tough. In America, anyway. After 9/11, we went to war in the middle east, and it all led up to the recession of '08.
@@MattW16 oh so this means we just became aware of how harsh the world was
Hell no it wasn't
This song inspired me to make a song that is inspired by love. If you want to listen to it here is the link: th-cam.com/video/3Wo0zFPt_t0/w-d-xo.html
Thank you!
This song is so true. Even the best people fall sometimes. I love you
Ahhh I remember when rock/alternative music was the mainstream music. Can we go back some time soon?
Totally agree! If only. argh!
Yeah we need to
My bags are packed lets go

My boyfriend (he’s alive) started singing this to me today after messing up the fried milk recipe. Love this song. Love you Anthony
Must be a special guy
Why tf did you have to state he's alive? :D
I wish... I could go back.. back to the past when my life is simple and happy.
Songs like this bring me back to the time when my wife and I were first married. She was such a beautiful woman with so much love. We had all these plans and dreams. Plans and dreams seem to spiral out of control. We lose track of time. I have been a widow for 5 years now. It seems like yesterday I hear this and wish there was a reset button in life
Love is great.
@@patriciaholloway Thank you for your kind words. Even through it all,I still feel I am blessed. Patricia was my mother's name.

So sorry for your loss ❤
I lost my first born son in a car accident on the way to work in October. I heard this song on a tv show today, and it instantly brought me to tears. First time we heard this song was on our way to the MOA back in 2004 (I believe). It's amazing how a song can instantly take you back to a moment in time.
i am so incredibly sorry.
It's the only way you'll keep her with you."
from a movie called "wind river"
@Mike Lee, Thank you.
@@wendyallen9089, thank you.
I haven't heard this song in FOREVER. Such a classic.
I’m a young people from Brazil and i love that song. 02:02 EU SINTO esse refrão no meu coração!!! Muito bom, cara.

Truth!
It's so sad.
cancer sucks why do you call yourself that? I agree, but why?
Maria Daniel 1.) I think cancer sucks. 2.) I'm a survivor
cancer sucks I had a feeling it was such. I work in an environment where I see too many people with cancer. Nice to talk to a survivor. I hope life is a lot kinder to you now. Respect.

The nostalgia... It feels like we were living in a different world, different time...
another song with which to drown my sorrows away. Really fits my mood at times when I'm low... just no one throw me a shovel I can dig my own pit quite well thank you.
It’s the lyrics to a song that make this one so timeless. 💯❤️
This feels like falling in love in autumn~
So totally agree😊
Music can take u to another place In time and take ya where no one else has
The woman in the music video is my first cousin stellina. Her And howie were together for awhile then had a fall out but i think its awesome that my own flesh and blood is present in this great song and music video
What. that's cool and how long were they dating for and what happend I love this song. and what's her last name
Two or three years and her name is stellina bicker
Pietro Short awesome. love never fails
cool! but sad to say that this beautiful song cannot make a relationship stay forever. such a waste.. who knows maybe they will cross their paths again. :)
Pietro Short, that's interesting, love this song but he seems a bit aggressive with women. Was your cousin physically hurt by him if you don't mind me asking? Thanks!
This song takes me back to simpler times just a different feel to the world during that time. First song I learned to play on guitar. Man oh man I miss those days
+MorrocanZween Don't we all :C
This is one of those songs where everyone loves despite having different tastes in music.
I'm mostly a metal guy, but i have my soft side too. Scars from my teenage years. Beautiful song❤
I used to hear this growing up. Haven't heard it in years.

I fell in love with this song the first day i listened to it. Thanks Howie day for this masterpiece which relieves my stress. 2022 stil listening.
I suddenly miss listening to this song. I hope to have this song played in my wedding someday if ever I do get married in the future.
We all could use a beautiful song like this everyday. 👏👏👏
This song never gets old. Makes me warm and fuzzy everytime.
Same.. might just be the alcohol tho lol
I don't care how old this song, I still love it!!

Good songs never get old!
good music never gets old it still stays alive in our hearts. I love many songs from the 70s and 80s. ex, many bands of the original of Metal, punk, and rock. I like so many songs that releases before I was born about 30 years. They're grandpa's band Hahaha
timeless...
This will forever be one of our many songs Robert Walker RIP my love ❤ we collided for 25 years 😢😢😢
I still get the same feeling as I did when I first listened to this years ago 🙂
Living without love is not easy. This song makes me sane on lonely times.
Love is always around the next corner. We just have to make the right turn.
Some times it's in the place least expected or maybe you knew all along
If your still alive, someone loves you! I hope the source makes itself known to you and the loneliness comes to an end!
