My best guess is that maybe slowly over many many years it might cause a problem, but in all practically, it won't make any noticeable difference. If you're still worried though, you can also use Windex, a lint roller, or even just water works okay
You should be able to sub the flat aluminum sheet for the polycarb. You can also buy a sheet of the polycarb from robosource or amazon for $5, so it's pretty cheap if you want to get some.

Do not use rubbing alcohol for cleaning flexwheels. It slowly breaks the rubber down on the flexwheels.
