      Great point Tony. If there is lead or other metals in the black sand it will off gas and can be very bad for you.

    Nice video. I saw someone use a campfire with a vacuum exhaust blowing air into the coals. He had black sands inside a steel container and shock shattered the black sands in water as well.

    Hard rock University has a great panning method for superfine gold, you might try it and see if you can't get more gold from these black sands, the superfine stuff anyways. Great video! ❤ I might have to try this someday!

      Thanks for watching and commenting. Good tip on the panning, works well with small amounts. Recently bought a Miller table that also works very well with 100- material.

    Yep looks just my my coat. You just need a silicone mat in the bottom of a blue bowl to clean up that gold. Great video Chuck thanks for sharing going to have to give that a try.

      Hey Dave, Good to hear from you. Hope your 2021 is golden my friend. Roasting black sands is not hard but is very time consuming. It does produce more gold if it comes out of a gold bearing area.

    This is a good way to get nuggets out of quartz to, get it red hot, quench it and the quartz turns to mush, and you can almost break it up with your hands. Another TH-camr had a video on it, "quartz from gold hack".

      Interesting procedure. I typically use a rock crusher, then the Miller table.

    So Chuck, would a Miller type (ours is a "Royale gold dust concentrating table") table work as well as a clean up type sluice? Thanks, neat video!

      The amount of gold recovered compared to the black sand processed is really good. I see so many people just dumping their black sand and losing a lot of gold. Just had to do the video.👍👍

    Have you heard of the roller mill technique developed in Yukon? A couple cups.put in a roller mill ie rod .mill turns about 60 rpm for.6 or 7 minutes the rods shoppers black sands into small partials and flatten gold then straining the sand and gold mix through a screen the black sands fall through and the enlarged gold is caught. Recovery was increased 33 to 50 %

      I have used this system for a while. It has always produced gold. Sometimes just a little and sometimes more.

    kudos to you chuck! this is something that i read many years ago in book about transmutation skeptic at first, but maybe they were partially true about roasting black sand, why you didn't use any magnet while separating roasted black sand, is there make any differences?

    I think I got it. The heat separates the gold from the black sand better. Is it correct that way ? I've never seen that before. Thanks for showing it. Peter wishes you good luck in the new year

      The heat on the black sand causes it to expand some and rapid cooing in the water releases the gold. Thanks for your support.

    Very good tip Brother. Is there any danger of harmful fumes? I'm thinking maybe using an old grill with the lid shut to retain heat. Then I could load two good size old cookie sheets with the black sands.

    This could be Hugh! I've tossed lbs of gold bearing black sands all over my gravel driveway 😦 ! Going to try this after we actually get some water and good dredge cons ect..lol over temp reminds me of Amy cooking 🍳 breakfast at camp🤣

      Forgot to ask, would a smelter setup work for roasting the black sands or would it get too hot?

      @@johnruckman2320 Miller table material must be pre screened to a min of 30-. Most of us screen up to 60-. After roasting a miller table or a Drop riffle sluice can be used to clean up the fines. A smelter or foundry will get to hot.

      I'm not sure if this is true but I've heard that it's not a great idea to breathe near the area your heating since the black sand can have pyrites like Arsenopyrite and sulfides like Cinnabar can be dangerous to humans.
