You might have been the only one on your side of the block, but in my part of Texas (Beaumont Texas is/was majority black), I turned plenty of my black homies to the "dark side" and they took to it quite well!

45 yr old white Canadian here and it's true everyone in high school that loved rock were what we called " Headbangers" or metal heads and I was one of them but we used to love it whenver we'd be at a party and there would be one black metal head with a leather jacket white high top sneakers and a slight fro seemed they all adopted the Jimi Hendrix look and we'd always want them at our parties. It takes A LOT of work to play this song. The rhythm guitar, WORK. The epic solo, WORK. The drums, WORK. The creativity, WORK. It is one of the most hidden gems in all of Metal. I’ll never forget where I was when I first listened to this album, especially this song. I coulnd wait to attempt to play it on guitar and it wears me out EVERY TIME. Excellent video my friend.

I was in the 7th grade when this came out. The "creepers" (the widely used and "accepted" name for the heavy metal clique. You know... Whitewashed Jeans, Jean jackets with led zeppelin and metallica patches... Etc) were freaking out. My friends, though not in that clique, listened to metal. So I listened to master of puppets with them. It blew my mind. It started with Battery....
