    This is the greatest reaction ever, to any song, ever, in the history of song reactions....ever! Laughed my balls off. This is how us old heads felt back in the 1980's when Metallica wasn't even known mainstream yet. It was a glorious time to be alive.

      Member of old heads club here. You are right I can see my face and my reaction to Kill ‘emAll, Ride the Lightning. Songs like Crash Course in Brain Surgery from Garage Inc. covers like Last Caress/ Green Hell. Am I Evil. The freaking sound track of my life. I love that there are people out there that won’t these legends ever be forgotten

      This song is the first on the album, so as this long intro played I'd be loading up the squat rack and sometimes I'd add just a little extra; I called it 'the Metallica effect'.
      I mostly run now due to quarantine but man, I miss how fucking invincible the PUPPETS album would make me feel in the gym.

      Class of 88 here.
      You might have been the only one on your side of the block, but in my part of Texas (Beaumont Texas is/was majority black), I turned plenty of my black homies to the "dark side" and they took to it quite well!

      45 yr old white Canadian here and it's true everyone in high school that loved rock were what we called " Headbangers" or metal heads and I was one of them but we used to love it whenver we'd be at a party and there would be one black metal head with a leather jacket white high top sneakers and a slight fro seemed they all adopted the Jimi Hendrix look and we'd always want them at our parties.       Some people find it repetitive and annoying. I don't, but I can understand where they're coming from. That's why it isn't in Top 10s, it's not for everyone. Great song imo

      When he left before KEA, Metallica changed their playing style anyways, while Dave developed the Megadeth sound.

    I brought the lyrics in for grade 11 English class and the teacher loved the lyrics, asked me to bring the song in... She had no idea it was chainsaw metal.. So got to bang out to some thrash metal in grade 11 english and I was the only one headbanging..

      I had an awkward moment in music class when teacher played a song from black album (don't remember anymore what it was) as an example for some musical stuff. Not only I was the only one headbanging the whole song but when he asked if it was good afterwards, I was so pumped that I bounced standing raising horns and yelled "fuck yeah!". Everyone except the teacher was looking at me like I'd lost it. Good memory.

    I was born at the absolute perfect time: I was around 9 yrs old when Star Wars came out. I was a teenager when John Hughes was making great high school movies: 16 Candles. Ferris Bueller's Day Off. The Breakfast Club. Weird Science. Some Kind Of Wonderful. Pretty in Pink. Etc. - But most of all, I was in high school when Master of Puppets came out.

      me too. I saw them in around 86 or so. master of puppets tour. when they ended their set, I was literally left sitting there not really able to speak or move. that energy left me like a bus in a hit and run. I was like ATF just happened. it was intense.

    It takes A LOT of work to play this song. The rhythm guitar, WORK. The epic solo, WORK. The drums, WORK. The creativity, WORK. It is one of the most hidden gems in all of Metal.     Master of Puppets as an album is probably overall the BEST they've created as a cohesive unit. If you notice on the album cover, the hands at the top with strings leading down to the grave markers showing not only "Puppets", but essentially the song "Disposable Heroes" - "You will do, what I say, when I say - Back to the front!"
    This whole album is just epic.

      I get the joke, but I find it a bit funny to talk about testosterone and male aggrsiveness, when the song is a condemnation of the biggest testosterone trip of them all: Military service, basically viewing soldiers as pitiful tools, who in their hunger for glory has been tricked into a life of servitude that will ultimately kill them, but they are too cowardly to say no.

      Ehh -AJFA. It's got some skippable tracks. I could do without shortest straw or eye of the beholder. First 3 are all masterpieces start to finish.

      You're correct, but I always hear ajfa get shit on (by others), but consider the band lost one of their best friends and contributors then wrote ajfa... huge feat and clearly the best non cliff album by a mile, and I would argue best first 3 songs of any Metallica album
