I know this an old comment but as AA stop saying that. Jamaicans are not native to Jamaica they come from Congo, Nigeria, Ghana etc like black Americans. They're in the same boat they just have more black people on the island to push the culture as the standard of the whole country. We have a culture and a heritage. There is even a black American heritage flag that is red, black and gold and was created in 1967. There is tons of African American folklore like Big Liz, Br'er Rabbit, Uncle Monday, Annie Christmas, The Knee High Man, The Boo Hag. There is African American Fife and Drum music in Mississippi, Chicago Steppin, gogo music. There is a lot of culture in South Carolina, North Carolina where the Gullah-Geechee people.

Like, I've seen too many relationships where - either intentionally or unintentionally - one parterns attempts to erase the cultural background of the other partner, and that's not cool. Every child should know where they came from, and if they gravitate towards one culture more than the other, that's natural. But cutting them off from one or the other is just wrong.
A lot of that comes from black Americans have an inferiority complex. Most half AA kids feel inferior and sometimes overcompensate by making people believe bother their parents are caribbean or African when they have a AA parent.
