I you read my comment I got all four ingredients to add to your pellets🤙 I just need an idea on how much to feed since one of my Bala sharks is ginormous!!! Also for food aggression with my redtail shark!! Thanks
hi kaveman, I hope u read my comment. I upgraded to a bigger tank about a year ago and it's fully cycled. I want to add more gravel since the one I got barely covers the ground, I need to add about 85 pounds. It's a 110 gal tank and has about 25 pounds of gravel. Do I need to worry about anything? how can I safely add new gravel? I'm not planning on throwing away the old gravel, just mix it with the new one. I don't think u made a video about this

Hey Kev. You have seriously been a big help with my 75g peacock and Hap tank. Questions regarding these supplements. 1- how many times a day do you feed your guys? And how many do you have in? 2- if you do feed them more than once a day, do you add these supplements each time you feed them?
Thanks so much for this video, i now have Garlic Guard and Nourish. Also have Vitachem ordered. Just a question, is Aquavitro Fuel the premium alternative to Seachem ZooPlankton?

Great info. I am new to keeping cichlids...well right now just have one Electric Blue Acara in my community tank. He is about 5" long. He was/is eating Extreme mini pellets (doesn't seem to love them) and frozen blood worms. My questions are: how much pellets do I feed him of the pellets? Using a measuring spoon...1 teaspoon. 1/2 teaspoon? Doesn't eat that many as they drop and have seen him eat them off the substrate but they are so small hard to tell, how much of it he is actually eating...previous owner said he ate this food well. I have read conflicting things about bloodworms (which he likes(...some say they are good for them daily. Some say they aren't good for Acaras and they can cause bloat? What to believe??? If OK to feed how much for one 5" fish and how often? Any specific brand do you recommend? I heard you mention dried krill...again brand and how much/often? I want to do right by this guy but a lot of conflicting into out there. Thanks!
Do you have a recommended pellet focus for my freshwater angelfish? They have difficulty realized that the pellets go to the bottom fast. I'd like to add these supplements. I'm watching all your videos ❤

Kev, I was using PhytoPlankton as well in my nutrient mixture, not sure where I got that from. However, I noticed that it also had some vitamins in it. What’s your thoughts on that?
Yes, just as good! I read somewhere that phytoplankton helps promote either a red or green color, while zooplankton is better for blues…but yes, it can be added as well 😁

Hi kaveman I need ur help on my glow tetra I accidentally snipped his back tail and I have him quarantine in a small bowl .5 gallon I didn’t have any other bowl until I bought a 3 gallon tank two days ago. Now I have to wait for cycling and hopefully my fish will survive. What is a good product for fins that have been damaged?
Hi Kev don’t know how many times you’ve been asked this in the comments if at all. From what age can you give cichlids this. I’m starting a new tank with 2inch juveniles. Would you recommend waiting until they are adult or as soon as possible. Thanks buddy
Hi everyone and KaveMan Aquatics. Firstly thank you very much for sharing this wonderful video. As I am a conplete newbie and just bought first few fish yesterday for my 70 litre Juwel primo tank aquarium which I gad setup for nearly 1 year but had bo fish till yesterday late evening/ night around 6pm- 8pm or so. The fish are very tiny 3 Rasbora fish and 2 tiny catfish or as some may call pleco fish. I was just wondering when would be appropriate to start feeding the fish? Any useful information about this would be very helpful/ useful. Thank you, Tom from UK.
I just wanted to know if you have someone that knows about turtles? I order all of those products today for my fish. But I also want to make sure it’s safe for turtles . Also can you give me an idea how much to feed my fish. I have a red tail shark that is aggressive at feeding time. I have two Bala sharks one has grown super fast (Hugh bought in late August) the other one is a little bit smaller than the red tail shark. Doesn’t seem like we’re growing! Oh and the Pleco will be okay too? I been told I overfeed my fish I clean my tank to much along with my filters. I appreciate everything you do and your knowledge. Is amazing 🤙 Susie D
Hey Kev, I have a question that I didn't find the answer in the comments. Looks like products are made for freshwater tanks, this also include community tanks or only for cichlids? I have my doubts since I didn't find that specific information about it. Thanks agaian!
Hey Kev! What should I do when I see my fish spitting the food out once I feed them, or they seem uninterested in the food(swim past)? This is also while using the supplements. Do these supplements get old and need to be discarded after a while?
If they only do that while using the supplements, then yes they can be too old and you should replace them. But usually these bottles will be long gone before they expire. If they do the same thing with the food even without the supplements then you may have an issue with internal parasites. It's one of the early signs. This video may help - th-cam.com/video/bSpBUlN-8jI/w-d-xo.html
Hey bro! So i got all this stuff for my guppies, i let it soak but i feed frozen brine shrimp and flakes so it doesn’t soak in all the way like pellets would? What do you think?
I have a 75 gal tank with all male Haps. I also wanted to get a blood parrot do you recommend male just like the rest of my fish or could I get away with putting in a female? Or would that cause a lot of aggression in my tank?
Kev, was I understanding you correctly when someone asked if you should use Vitality over Nourish in a mbuna cichlid tank? Which one should be used, or can you use them both?
This is 1 yr later but dont forget cyclid trace. And should i use vita chem and cyclid trace at same time? If i use the vita chem i would probably just add it to the water.
How long can you keep these supplements before they go bad? Or do they go bad? I just found some I bought a few years ago and forgot about. Wanted to start using them, but didn't want to risk killing fish if these have an expiration date.
hey, i have a ten gallon with 3 molly fish and 1 African dwarf frog do you think a 40% water change every three weeks is good if not what would be a good time frame and % ?
Hey Kev! Thanks for the video update.. I'm so behind at the moment 😲 question regarding Seachem Phytoplankton, have you used this before also or discussed this one with Seachem? I've read that whilst zoo plankton can also help improve 'red' colours along with its beneficial nutrients, phytoplankton can improve blues/greens and also aid increased absorption of important nutrients. I've seen they are mostly similar in ingredients but have a few differences, so it might just be a 'much of a muchness' in me currently using both or is it that Zoo Plankton is the superior? Hope that makes some sense! 😁 Loving your work as usual 👌
@@KaveManAquatics I have always used it along with the others so I couldn't say it 'added' anything extra beyond them unfortunately. I just wondered if you had had a yarn with Seachem about it 👍
I’ve been doing this combo twice to 3 times a week. I have 16 African chiclids peacocks a couple of haps and a couple Mbunas. They seem to be getting along. I’ve been growing them out in a 190 gallon tank. So my question to u with these supplements I’m giving them should I add something else for the mbunas
No need to add anything different fo Mbunas. But I would be careful of how much protein they are eating. Excess protein can cause malawi bloat in mbunas
Hi Kev, a few questions: Can you use these Supplements for fish flakes? How can use/mix these supplements for flakes? Can these supplements be used for Cory’s?
Should I feed my African Cichlids more than once a day? I have 16 in a 75 gallon tank and give them bribe shrimp or blood worms once a day. They absolutely devour it. The reason I’m asking is because they are my bristlenose plecos and snail. Is it because they’re hungry or just mean?
Thank you very much KaveMan Aquatics/ Kev for sharing this vital and great information/ update regarding fish food and supplements. Thank you from UK. Tom.
Hi Kev, i have a question, today i founded in my quarantine tank dead fish and my question is how to clean the tank and the spounge filter? Is it safe to clean only with hot water and to used again or how( the tank smells) can i clean with vinegar?
So I was just curious if you personally add the vita Chen and zooplankton directly to the tank? The bottles both say add it to the tank. Mine just came in the mail today!!!
Hi Kev, Went through the Vitality specs on Seachem's site yesterday and noticed that Vitality does contain Iodide . According to Ingredients list E2 iodide 4mg in Viltality versus E2 iodide 9mg in Nourish. So, half the quantity in Vitality.
Hey Kev, I'm learning alot from watching your videos. I just ordered vita-chem that I am going to use for my mbuna's. This video convinced me to try it out
Great research as always… I’m having a stress problem with one of my Rams… the Convict and the 2 Rams are young and approximately the same size… all are male, but one Ram is being bullied by both the convict and the other Ram… today he stopped eating… I’m sure because of stress. Should I put him in the hospital tank or the bullies. And will Stressgard help him…
@@KaveManAquatics Thanks Kev… I’m getting the StressGard anyway! “Chico” the convict lived up to convict name… He’s now in jail… see what happens in a week or so…
There's a vitamin-c supplement from brightwell aquatics (for marine fish), but could I use this as a supplement since some of the othe products are technically for "marine" as well? Thanks for the update too! I've been making my own gel food and want to throw these supplements into the mix as well (so my loaches, plecos, shrimp, and snails get some too) since it should work te same as pellet food as far as absorption
Im not sure what else is in that supplement but if its just vitamins and minerals it should be fine. Some products target marine fish because they need more of the minerals but fresh water will do well with them also.
I will take a closer look at the ingredients to be sure of the contents. Thank you, I appreciate your knowledge on cichlids man. Your videos have made me want to have my fish "thrive" and not just survive, and the results have been great.
Hello Marine Semper FI, maybe you can help a Navy Seabee Out, I was breeding Discus, now im done breeding beacuse of the time-i work a lot of hours, my Question is i have never used prime-i have always done an ro/di system-and always airate and heat up my make up water in 55 gallon food grade brute containers. My problem is i live in Toms River New Jersey-out of the tap water i have 0,5-1.0 ammonia. Chloramines, nitrates would prime help this. I have 2-90 gallon tanks-2-125 gallon tanks and 1-180 gallon tank. I use all eheim 2262 filters in all my tanks the 125's and up have 2 of these filters along with 12 kilograms of biohome ultimate in each filter, this stuff does work but you have to add more then what the website says i also use 1-large sponge filter in each tank, these are all bare bottom tanks thats why i use so much bio media, and i also do 75% water changes -2 times per week on all tanks, these fish love the clean water, this biohome ultimate keeeps my nitrates at 10ppms and below. I rigged up a python hook for the return water to each tank, these filters put out 900 gallons per hour, cut that in half with all the bio media. Please Help your Navy Buddy, Thank you Kevin. Joe H Navy Seabee
Hey Sailor, first of all, thanks for your service! 💪 Yes, Prime will absolutely help in detoxifying that small amount of ammonia. No need to pre-treat the water. Dose the prime directly into tank just before adding in new water. Watch this for more detail - th-cam.com/video/xy3vlrPA-BQ/w-d-xo.html Glad to hear the biohome is helping keep your nitrates down. How much of it are you using? Do you have any live plants in your tanks?
If adding zooplankton to the water is it beneficial to the fish as far as getting vitamins and nutrition. I have as Iraq OB silver two years old and he has gotten sick and I don't understand why I'm wondering if I add vitamins to the water would this be beneficial
Bro I just missed the webbinar , I am interested in your membership, I just started my tank, I took a water sample to my local fish store and they said my tank was cycled and ready to put fish in it, so far 4 fish have already died and to are swimming weird, I am going to buy the test kit today and start testing my self, my fish keep rubbing on the sand and rock, I already lost 150 in fish.
Sorry to hear that bro. You've got to get that tank cycled! Catch the webinar here - event.webinarjam.com/channel/KaveMan-Aquatics and join the membership here - th-cam.com/users/kavemanaquaticsjoin
Im not sure if this is the dumbest question ever but can you feed peacocks and haps just straight garlic????? it is a veggie after all and my peacocks love my bristlenoses zucchini that i put in. Thanks Kev love the channel been running my 100gal tank since xmas and im have great success following you Channel.
I use Vitality and vita-chem and I mix them with my mini pellets and shrimp pellets and my electric blue Acura and my rainbow shark and corys absolutely love this stuff. But I will tell you it makes a mess bro lol. I had to do a pretty big water change cause my Nitrates was at 80 or 160 ppm i do weekly water changes, maybe im putting alittle to much in there everyday but I didn't know cause it only been 3 weeks since I started mixing these with my pellets Kev one other thing there colors are definitely popping and making them look fantastic. I'm gonna change up a few things for feeding them.
Do you recommend this for all size fish? Or just the monsters. I have some smaller tanks for some 2-3 inch fish and a couple of 3.5-4 inch short body parrot convicts. I feed a variety to these tanks just to try to get them a little of everything they might need ( brine shrimp, blood worms, bug bites, flakes and pellets, veggie crisps. Do you think this would help if I mixed that into their diets ?
How come when it's mixed it goes bad quickly but if it's not mixed the supplements won't go bad 🤔 2 if they aren't refrigerated beforehand why do they need refrigeration after they're mixed
I have ordered all except Nourish as couldn’t get it in Malaysia. Will order from Amazon later. The other items will arrive soon. Hope my fishes will be healthier
I agree that fresh and frozen raw food is the best but that can get expensive. Live food can sometimes carry parasites, depending on what you're feeding.
Have you used Seachem's NutriDiet/ NutriDiet Probiotics Cichlid? Why do you use Northfin food over Seachem's Cichlid food? Seachem's Cichlid flakes has garlic guard and vitamin c already in them!
Seachem only has flake food which I’ve never been a big fan of. Until recently. I witnessed a feeding with Seachems flake food and the fish loved it and the water stayed crystal clear…I’ve added it into my rotation ever since 😁
Fish food companies have the option to show their percentages and values before they bake or dry it out. Sera is the only mass produced fish food company I'm aware of that shows percentages and values after the drying process. So you do actually get what is says on the container.
All the sound effects man, I don't know which is worse the back groud music or this. Some people may like but I find it very distracting. I hate to always give you negative comments, you do have great videos and great information. I guess I am just becoming a grumpy old man at only 64.

Hey guys! I have a 125 gallon mixed peacock and hap tank, tank has been cycled for 2 years, water levels are all normal, and I lost about 6 fully grown peacocks the past week. None of them have bite marks or any signs of infection. I added two new peacocks from my LFS and ever since then, this happened. Any ideas on what this can be from?
@@SG-Cichlids five days after I added the new fish, my existing fish were swimming on the bottom of the tank very slowly, very relaxed, not breathing heavy, so signs of internal parasites or external disease, and then I woke up the next morning to find them dead. I looked at their body’s and there was nothing wrong with the fins, no bite marks,I thought maybe they hit the heater but there’s no way 5 fish all hit the heater over night and died. Then over the past two days I had two other fish have the same signs and then died
@@KaveManAquatics thanks kev! I’m almost positive that’s what it’s from because I’ve never had this happen before and I was lazy and didn’t want to wait and quarantine. My friend said this happened to him and wiped out his entire tank and he said he sounds like culmonaris

Loving your work as usual 👌
I have heard the same about phytoplankton but havent put it to the test yet. If you do decide to use it I would love to hear your feedback on it 😁
@@KaveManAquatics I have always used it along with the others so I couldn't say it 'added' anything extra beyond them unfortunately.
Hi Kev, a few questions:
Can you use these Supplements for fish flakes?
How can use/mix these supplements for flakes?
Can these supplements be used for Cory’s?
Flakes will not absorb the supplements well. Yes corys will love this as well.
Tom.
My pleasure Tom! Glad you found it helpful 😊💪
2 inch Malawi Cichlids fish Hikari Bio Gold + Mini How much pellet should I give to 1 fish at 1 time?
Hi Kev, i have a question, today i founded in my quarantine tank dead fish and my question is how to clean the tank and the spounge filter? Is it safe to clean only with hot water and to used again or how( the tank smells) can i clean with vinegar?
Yes, break it down and clean with vinegar.
So I was just curious if you personally add the vita Chen and zooplankton directly to the tank? The bottles both say add it to the tank. Mine just came in the mail today!!!
When feeding corals yes. (but I dont have corals) When feeding fish mix it into the food.
Thank you again sir
Hi Kev,
Went through the Vitality specs on Seachem's site yesterday and noticed that Vitality does contain Iodide . According to Ingredients list E2 iodide 4mg in Viltality versus E2 iodide 9mg in Nourish. So, half the quantity in Vitality.
Yea that’s the major difference between both. More iodide better for freshwater fish
Thanks man, just ordered all of it, and some of the meds from your other video
My pleasure! Glad you're finding the channel helpful 😁
Do you use it all at once?
You can store extra in the fridge for 2-3 days but no more than that. Make a fresh batch daily is the best option though.
Hey Kev, I'm learning alot from watching your videos. I just ordered vita-chem that I am going to use for my mbuna's. This video convinced me to try it out
Glad to hear that! Vita chem will definitely improve your guys diet 😁
@@KaveManAquatics how often do you add the vita chem to the food?
Great research as always…
I’m having a stress problem with one of my Rams… the Convict and the 2 Rams are young and approximately the same size… all are male, but one Ram is being bullied by both the convict and the other Ram… today he stopped eating… I’m sure because of stress.
Should I put him in the hospital tank or the bullies.
And will Stressgard help him…
Stress guard will help him, remove him until hes strong and confident. If you put him back and same happens hes just too weak of a guy
@@KaveManAquatics Thanks Kev… I’m getting the StressGard anyway!
“Chico” the convict lived up to convict name… He’s now in jail… see what happens in a week or so…
Hey Kev does nourish have to be refrigerated once opened? Cant find anything online that says so.
No it does not. Once the mixture is mixed with food it should be refrigerated if not fed immediately.
Dose adding supplements/vitamins how dose that effect water? As far a ammonia ect
They do not add ammonia or anything harmful to your water. 😊
I'll have to try this with my chiclids question can you use this with guppies
Absolutely. These supplements are safe for all fish
How many drops of nourish per tablespoon of food?
Definitely works I noticed a change in my guys in the first week thank you!!!
Glad to hear that Brian! And thanks for trust me enough to try it 😁💪
Hello Marine Semper FI, maybe you can help a Navy Seabee Out, I was breeding Discus, now im done breeding beacuse of the time-i work a lot of hours, my Question is i have never used prime-i have always done an ro/di system-and always airate and heat up my make up water in 55 gallon food grade brute containers.
Watch this for more detail - th-cam.com/video/xy3vlrPA-BQ/w-d-xo.html
Glad to hear the biohome is helping keep your nitrates down. How much of it are you using? Do you have any live plants in your tanks?
Do you have to let your pellets warm up from the fridge before feeding?
No, you can feed it cold 😁
Is the zoo plankton safe for fresh water fish such as cichlids ?
Absolutely, that’s why I use it. 😁
Ok thank you I just purchased everything as you instructed
@@franklucaz3408 💪💪
Which supplements do you advise for Betta's?
What do you think of Repashy?
If adding zooplankton to the water is it beneficial to the fish as far as getting vitamins and nutrition. I have as Iraq OB silver two years old and he has gotten sick and I don't understand why I'm wondering if I add vitamins to the water would this be beneficial
You can add the vitachem to the water and the zoo plankton. But its best to mix all into the food.
Just purchased vita-chem; your video's helped convince me to try it!
Glad I could help. Your fish will thank you too 😁
Is a 25 gallon fish tank big enough for 1 apx 5 year old strawberry peacock cichild?
he is about 3-4 inches
Bro I just missed the webbinar , I am interested in your membership, I just started my tank, I took a water sample to my local fish store and they said my tank was cycled and ready to put fish in it, so far 4 fish have already died and to are swimming weird, I am going to buy the test kit today and start testing my self, my fish keep rubbing on the sand and rock, I already lost 150 in fish.
Sorry to hear that bro. You've got to get that tank cycled! Catch the webinar here - event.webinarjam.com/channel/KaveMan-Aquatics

I purchased all of your recommendations...happy fish, happy keeper 💜
What else can I use other then vita chem? I'm in Australia and can't find it and on ebay it's hella expensive in AUD dollars.
It's about 30 bucks on eBay from America including postage.
Thats a great question lol I never tried it or heard of it...but you're right..it is just a vegetable lol
Glad you're seeing the benefits in your fish! Yea, maybe cut back a little if its making your water cloudy.
Where do you buy your fish and how do you pay for shipping?
The breeders I use and trust can be found in my shop under the fish tab. - koji.to/kaveman_aquatics

@@KaveManAquatics always! Nice save on the 450, can't wait to see how it shapes up!
Can you not use flake food to mix ??
You can, but flakes arent going to absorb the meds the same way a pellet can.
@@KaveManAquatics ok thanks 👌
Do you recommend this for all size fish? Or just the monsters. I have some smaller tanks for some 2-3 inch fish and a couple of 3.5-4 inch short body parrot convicts. I feed a variety to these tanks just to try to get them a little of everything they might need ( brine shrimp, blood worms, bug bites, flakes and pellets, veggie crisps. Do you think this would help if I mixed that into their diets ?
Absolutely! This is beneficial for all fish of any size 😊
They will be! 😊
I really don’t hear about blood worms being fed to cichlids is that something I should change that’s all I feed them. Thanks.
I would. Blood worms do not provide much nutritional value, even though they love them. Some people have linked blood worms to malawi bloat as well.
Definitely going to change that thank you and all you’re great informative videos
I just saw one of your videos where you mixing the garlic and the other vitamins into pebbles. I’m not gonna start doing that. Thanks again
@@bigdaddymex2003 It’s not necessary, it’s an optional additional benefit.
Definitely I think it’s a good benefit for sure. thanks again
What pellet is the best for you
I feed Northfin. Link in the description for everything I feed.
Thanks for sharing
My pleasure
What if you don’t feed pellets? I do a mixture of flakes and frozen foods.
Toss those flakes…pellets are preferable. 😁
Thank you! I will pick some up tomorrow
Your fish will love it bro!
Can this work with flakes??
Not really. Flakes wont absorb the supplements like pellets will.
@@KaveManAquatics gotcha!! Thank you
Seachem NutriDiet Cichlid Flakes has garlicguard and vitamin C. Give it a chance...
I have and its great! 💪
@@KaveManAquatics I just watched that video. Congrats not only for your fishes but also for your videos. I am having fun and learning a lot, thanks
Hi, I think the best way to supplement is with live food. Civa food is full of vitamins and good fats.
That’s a much more honest way of doing things! 👍
Kev do you treat them with red blood worms?
No, I dont feed blood worms. Too many negative experiences with them.
All the sound effects man, I don't know which is worse the back groud music or this. Some people may like but I find it very distracting. I hate to always give you negative comments, you do have great videos and great information. I guess I am just becoming a grumpy old man at only 64.
Lol, it’s ok sir. I welcome the constructive criticism. It’s hard to please everyone. So I try to sprinkle a little of every style. As long as the info was helpful for you I’m happy 😁
just a heads up, when it talks about losing nutrition from heating, it says loose instead of lose.
Thanks bro…missed it in the editing, too late now 🤷🏼♂️
What’s your Feeding schedule
Once a day for the Africans, treat on Saturday, fast on Sunday. Yes I feed Brine shrimp as 1 of their treats 😊
Why not add it to water?
You can, but they'll ingest it better mixed into the food.
Have you used any of these for Oscar’s?
Absolutely! They love it! 😁

You didn't say when you added them and the symptoms the fish had before they died.
Sorry for your loss bro. But if you didnt quarantine the new fish you could have brought in some disease to your tank.
@@SG-Cichlids one of my friends said it may be culmonaris
@@KaveManAquatics thanks kev! I’m almost positive that’s what it’s from because I’ve never had this happen before and I was lazy and didn’t want to wait and quarantine. My friend said this happened to him and wiped out his entire tank and he said he sounds like culmonaris
