On my first cycle 0 I didnt get a seizure but I was killed by a king vulture like 5 seconds after leaving the shelter. Didnt even see the creepy effect on screen really and it was too quick lol yeah
I've noticed that, at least for hunter, when a slugcat is starving they are paler in color than usual. When they eat enough to be full, they go to their normal color again. I just found that attention to detail really cool :3

Honestly one of the scarier parts of this run, even if it doesn't look that way. She said she did 60-70 runs and if she didn't die because vultures flew away with all her spears at the start it was usually scavs. All it would take is for one of those guys to be a little extra nervous and she could have gotten speared. But she had to make sure they were paying attention or the pearl could be wasted, even though jumping like that is triggering to scavs. Very likely both those outcomes (wasted pearl or stabbed for being scary) happened to her at least once at that toll in these attempts
@@MilhSpears can confirm deers are stupid. I saw 5 of them climb on top of each other than bundle into one super massive terrifying creature. I will never forget this

Update: On my Hunter run, I had the foresight to not go to Garbage Wastes, and didn't see the Red Centi in Subterranean. I did manage to spawn one in Garbage Wastes on Survivor, though, and I edited the game files so I could keep it there. Can confirm the thing's scary as hell and you have to fight against your instincts when encountering one
Yeah pretty scary and powerful. And the fact that they can *hear you while ur crouching-* ... When u encounter one, i suggest u never get in their way and stay as far away as possible. If they're blocking a path or pipe, either distract them by throwing a rock to a distant wall several times or wait it to go away. Usually in most of my playthroughs red centipedes are (not always but still commonly) busy killing scavs and lizards so i dont waste the small opportunity to slip by them. And if they ever spot you, and ur sure of it, just run like hell and try to gain faster speed. Yea ik they are fast but u can be faster with advanced movement tricks. When they grab u, quickly throw a spear ( *not a rock* cuz it doesnt do anything) then while its processing the armor penetration hit, stab the vulnerable spot and run away. If he gets close while running, stab the same spot again if u can. Also watch out for its other end cuz its trying to reach u aswell. Although, even if ur doing everything right, *u can* and probably will still die. Several times maybe. Its just how things are in the amazing nature of Rain World. Sooo. These tips i wrote are pretty much just for hiding and how to get away from them. If u wanna hear the tips for *hunting em,* just lemme know and ill gladly help. Hope u stay safe and have fun gaming
Apart from starting my run on cycle 0, I followed alongside this video step by step in the game itself since I've never succeeded at a hunter run before. And I'm a relatively poor fighter at times, so the vulture mask is a lifesaver :O Thanks, Turtle Toad, it was nice figuratively journeying alongside you :3 Edit: I have no idea how many attempts that took to successfully Ascend. I kept messing up my pathing pretty early on and ruining the entire run as a result. 😆 I have NO idea how you did it without dying. I kept getting killed by centipedes toward the end, and then the damn mole lizards in Filtration.

I came to watch this video again and it reminded me of the time I used a lizard customizer to make every lizard a have the leapzard leap and tongue and forgot to turn it off while doing a hunter run. This was basically what happened to me, constant cycle 0.

It's basically turbo cancer. And now with downpour, well.. ⚠️spoiler alert⚠️ In a Hunter run, if you perma die, and go back to the room you died in as Gourmand, then you'll see Hunters corpse, covered in growths and tumors, being dragged around by tendrils and tentacles.
Although it is funny that Hunter does a backward flip often, I get it is the side effect of cycle 0. Why Hunter has a cycle 20 limit? What did it just eat? 7:46 Why the hibernation bar goes down? 8:10 Then it goes up!
The backward flips are there to make the leaps much quicker and farther than usual, can be done on most slugcats. As for the hibernation bar, he's simply starving himself so the echo's bring him back 2 shelters back instead of the usual 1
The backflip isn't a side effect, it's movement tech that any slugcat can do in order to pounce further. The hibernation bar goes down because turtle is force-starving. It goes up because the food requirement is larger when you are starving.

Pebbles is a long way from garbage wastes, generally try going right until you reach Shaded Citadel, and from there find memory crypts. The rest of the way is straightforward.

I've never reached cycle 0 because I would void my hunter save if i knew the run was failed but the visuals and the fact that the illness gets worse... It makes you feel that Hunter is in excurating pain...
why did you sleep twice near the start to reach cycle -2? the run made it look like you couldve gone the whole game without dipping below -1. how far into the negative can you go before you become unable to survive?
@@dracibatic2433 it's essentially the same as cycle 0, just the frequency and severity of seizures increases while your ability to deal with them decreases (it becomes harder and harder to get enough food to make them go away, much less survive a hibernation!)
It makes the Hunter weaker, require more food, and occasionally it ends up having seizures. It's also an indicator of your game going to permadeath mode _(i.e. if you die, the run is over)._ Long story short, it makes life a living hell ;v;
So i'm curious, does changing your cycle (and therefore your food requirements, speed, etc etc) really affect your process of completing acension? It feels like the steps you take are fairly well planned out! (all to your merit, as i can barely manage to get to pebbles by cycle 5....

The default controls were really weird for me because they were nowhere near traditional, but I changed them to be more traditional (and ended up making the game playable with one hand because of it). I had to remap all my keys except for one, which was Escape to pause the game

When at flat ground if a lizard is chasing after you you might want to slide stab its mouth it will stun them longer and deal more damage also is easy
