For some reason therapist are hit or miss as parents. My mom was a counselor. Got many awards at her job for help with mentally ill veterans but when it came to me, she would shout how I don't have depression cause I have a good life. Plus a have 2 friends in similar positions. It's a weird cognitive dissonance they have and I don't understand how a mental health professional can ignore and outright go against the mental health of.thier child.

NTA for OP for sure. I'd go low contact for quite some time which means that the grandparents aren't seeing the grandkids. And if the grandparents are able to do this to OP, what are they mentally feeding her 5-year-old?
They're also excluding OP's other kids. I get that they're not on Spring Break but a huge family vacation would be cool. It sucks that OP's family is so judgmental that they felt the need to exclude everyone but the kid who was a baby at the time of the divorce.
These, 'reasons' her mom gave OP for excluding her are very suspect. Something else has to be going on here; OP withdrawing HER money and them disapproving of how she used it? That hound dog doesn't hunt! I'd probably confront sister when they returned to try and get the real story. Wouldn't be surprised if the family had been gossiping about her and sided with ex husband in that divorce and OP wasn't invited because mom didn't want the conflict of others on the vacation confronting OP and causing arguments. This is absolutely disgusting by the entire family that did this to this woman and then they had the audacity to ask for my child to join them... I would be demanding that child's return immediately I would give them so many hours, And if they did not heed by what I said I would be calling the police for kid napping. they LIED. About the reasons and you have every right to tell and listen you know how long it took you to get to Florida.Well you have that much time to come back and bring my kid home.... F-that! Not the AH! I’ve been burnt/betrayed/hurt/etc. by a few family members (albeit, not immediate) and a few close (or I thought them to be) friends. I eventually learned that I in fact CAN remove people from my life, and not be involved with them ever again. In fact, I’ve found how much my life improved after I came to the realization. So, if I were OP, I would wash my hands of them, and they wouldn’t be hearing from me, or seeing my kids, ever again.

Tbh I was thinking involving the child might be the only non-asshole move they did; I got the feeling they invited the child so it wouldn’t feel left out from it’s other cousins, probably thinking the well the divorce wasn’t the childs fault. That’s how I saw it anyway. However, lying about where they were taking the child was definitely an asshole move, and shows they can’t be trusted.
