I lost my husband 9 months ago and can't get back into crafting yet. I try but can't do it. I lost my best friend shortly after I retired. Then I hear your story and think I don't have it so bad. I was a oncology nurse so I took care of alot of people like your husband and I'm so sorry for you then you have one of the worst hurricanes to hit the USA and look at YOU...making your husbands desires for that space come alive! Can I just take a moment and THANK YOU and all the other nurses, oncology and otherwise. When my husband was in the hospital, long before this terrible situation we are in now, I was blown away by the commitment, care and compassion of the nursing staff. They are truly what holds the whole thing together, and at least in my husband's case, I would have taken 30 nurses to one doctor! Much respect and love!!🙌😊💗

Oh annieoakle, I'm so glad it did and I'm glad you found the video encouraging! I pray all will be well as it often is these days with all of the medical advancements. It seems like with each year that passes, effectiveness of treatments jumps lightyears! The most important thing is to keep positive. I do believe it helps enormously but even if we can't prove that it helps a bit, we know for sure that spending too much time negativity (worry, anger, fear, etc) spikes stress which we know is not healthy. I hope and pray everything works out for your husband and my thought and prayers are with you both. 🙏😊💗

I’m so sorry about your husband. I lost mine in 2010. It’s never ever ever easy but life goes on and so we must too. He would be so proud of your accomplishments. Love it ❤️

Thank you for your wonderful patio creation and sharing your story. We were in the flood in Nebraska last year 2 weeks after we purchased our home. A friend told me to know that it would take awhile before everything got rebuilt and back to normal. Well 1 year later we are almost done rebuilding the house and thinking about our patio and landscape. Thank you for your wonderful ideas and encouragement!

Hi Heather! Yes, but IKE was much more devastating for you! We were here for Ike too. It was our first hurricane season and it was like WELCOME TO THE GULF COAST! 😁 We were spared for Ike but multiple neighbors on either side of us had their homes destroyed by spawned tornadoes. Even though our home was spared it was devastating how bad the impact was to the community. Remember no electric for over a month!! Hopefully Ike was not too awful for you. And look! Here we are with hurricane season starting in a couple of weeks!
I absolutely love this makeover. You always were so talented. I am so lucky to have you as my sister in law. I can’t wait to visit next year to see this in person. I miss Eric everyday. ❤️

What a wonderful thing to say! 💗💗💗 I'm so happy that sentiment came through because that is absolutely spot on!! 😊😊😊 I used to love to entertain and did so often through my marriage as well as through all my children and their various activities and occasions and that was exactly how I wanted my guests to feel. But now, after all these years, I find the other bits, (the cleaning and the shopping and cooking and the cleaning again 😊) to be so exhausting! That is what is so amazing about this channel! I get to have potentially tens of thousands of guests and only have to do the fun bits!! 😁😁😁
You are a inspiration! I lost my husband when our son was 18 months old. It's hard to believe but that was 30 years ago. I have spent that time raising our son and teaching him all the things my husband wanted too it has been hard and joyful at the same time. I am very happy to say that he has become a fine young man. If I recall correctly, parts of Pasadena close to 45 were pretty hard hit and areas near M.City like Sienna Plantation also took on some heavy damage. Rosemary my dear, I was so heartbroken 😞 after the last video when you disclosed you lived through the hurricane, I was speechless. However I did sense a loss possibly bigger than the hurricane. What I did not know was that it was your husband. The loss is so profound there are no words of comfort I have to offer. What I would like to say is I am here for you. My goodness the amount of loss and you are still a kind warm funny crafty lady. I enjoy and inspire to have your strength. I will continue to pray for you and your family. We all have our crosses to bear sometimes the weight feels to much but as women I feel we get through it. My heart hurts hearing your story, however I feel your strength as well. Hello sister from another mister. My family lived in Rockport, the town that took a direct hit. My daughter and son in law lost their home, and my granddaughter lost her goods when the rent house was hit. You’re right things are just things.

OH MY!! That is AWFUL!! I knew your fam was still here in TX but had no idea they were in Rockport! Dear Lord, it was decimated down there. We just got the biblical rains and then when we thought it was over, Harvey said, "I'm Back! Just went out the Gulf to pick up about another 20 inches of water!!" Unbelievable!

Thanks Rosemary. I’m saddened to hear about your husband. My father died when I was eight months old so I have some knowledge of how difficult being a single parent. My husband was in the Navy 30 years and not having someone to bounce ideas off of can really drag you down. My daughter and son in law moved to the Galveston area, she must like the fear that hurricanes. My granddaughter moved into her bf’s house in Ingleside because of the pandemic. She is a hair stylist and has not been allowed to work. Her landlord let her out of her lease early so she didn’t keep accruing payments. She doesn’t normally live with a bf, but she didn’t want to keep her apartment and be unable to pay rent. She can always get another apartment if needed. Ok, we really are sisters from other misters. 😂
Sister from another mister, you are not kidding!! At first I thought it was just our snarky perspectives that made us kindred souls, but it is amazing the similarity of the paths! (Maybe that's why we are so snarky!😁😁😁) And yes, the not bouncing ideas thing! DING, DING. DING! Seriously, I think that is actually the worst part! Maddening!

Everything is so beautiful. You have really done a great job on the patio and the DIY’s. I live in South Carolina, but I remember Hurricane Harvey very well. Watching on the news, it was just heartbreaking seeing what was going on in Southeast Texas. I’m so sorry to hear about your husband. I lost my husband in 2017. The sign, right!?! And how crazy was it that I bought the day before the storm! I had gone out to big lots because to get storm supplies and that was in the clearance bin at the front because sea shell decorations were broken off. I thought I'll get this and either fix the shells or put something else there. Then the storm hit but when we returned home, on top of all that was this sign. It was completely in tact too! I never fixed it because I thought it is perfect the way it is! 🙌😊💗

I hope many folks did not skip your story. Yes, it was very sad, but such an inspiration! I loss a husband from a work accident when I was only 19 and 6 months pregnant. That was 46 yrs ago. I was not as resistant as you. I did survive, but I wish I woulda, coulda, shoulda'd followed another path. Everything they say happens for a reason, but when I lost my 46 yr old son in 5/2019, I actually don't believe it any longer. Thanks for sharing and good luck to you. You have bounced back amazingly. I lost my husband 30 years ago at 39 due to an accident. My daughter was 10. Projects are the best thing to help with the grieving I think. I built a new house as my project. Be well and best wishes for your future.

It is particularly hard with young children not just because of the physical, emotional and mental strain but mostly because their pain is much harder to bare than you own. So sorry for your loss and all your problems, I have only ever seen all these terrible storms , earth quakes etc on tv or videos, the worse we have here in Scotland is heavy rain and I'm ashamed to think how much I complain about it now after hearing your story. I'm so proud how you have coped with everything, loosing my daughter just over four years ago and listening to your beautiful story gives me hope that one day I'll stop crying and live my life again instead of existing , blessing to you, all your family and wonderful friends. Dear Ck, God Bless You! I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I think the loss of a child is the most devastating of all. Not only do we loss someone we loved so much, but also as a parent, we feel like we did not protect them. Even though we know the idea that we could protect them from everything is this in this world is totally irrational, we still beat ourselves up. I pray God will release you from your grief and help you find peace. I am so glad that this video helped a little bit on that journey. And I know exactly what you mean about posts and sadly, I think the illusion exacerbates that feeling of discouragement when you are in the middle of a struggle and others seem to have such lovely lives, so happy to have helped in that regard! 😊And if I can just mention one other thing about the rain in Scotland....I think it is beautiful!!! Now I know that heavy rain and gray skies can be daunting especially day in and day out. But the thing I find beautiful about it is that the people of Scotland really all of the British Isles, despite the somewhat gloomy weather, are on whole, some of the warmest, funniest, brightest most charming people I've ever met!! I think as nation, the Scots and their neighbors have personified the sentiment from the rain gauge wall hanging in the video and they have certainly learned TO DANCE IN THE RAIN!! God Bless!!🙏😊💗

Oh Sandra, so sorry to hear. That is just awful. Our pets really are a part of our family. You know how parents will sometimes confuse their kids names calling one another one's name? Well my dog and cat are in the mix and my kids from time to time will get called Buster or Lucky!

FABEDhacks I live in Australia in the southern part so am not impacted by cyclones which are similar to hurricanes but we do have bush fires...we don’t have the dollar tree in Australia which is very sad but I do really like watching your videos

Rose..So sorry for your lost. I think almost everyone knows how it is to lose a love one but when it's to cancer it much way worst because we as family can't do much to ease their pain and it hurts so much see them go through the effects of radiation or quimo. It's devastating and sad. But God will give us the comfort to accept and keep living even if we miss that love one so much. This makeover is so beautiful I am sure your husband is so proud of what you have accomplished to get over the hurricane plus losing him.
