In the presser Shad Khan did, he said that if a candidate can explain why they should make FO changes and it's not an Ego/power struggle thing than he's completely open to it.
@michaelcorcoran8768 yes. It is. But it's also making sure that if you're firing him, it's not because you've hired a Matt Patricia. Shad said he didn't "want to throw out the baby with the bathwater." To me it sounds like he wants there to be an actual plan in place before he changes the structure of the organization. Tony Pauline's reporting suggests that Baalke might be being retained to help Shad through the process of hiring a new HC and GM and then transition into a new role or advisory position within the organization (which in my opinion protects his job long enough for him to retire in the next 3-5 years instead of being fired this year or next year when his GM contract is up).

Another possibility for the Saint HC would be Aaron Glenn. He was the Saints defensive backs coach form 2016-2020. And he even finished his playing career with them in 2008, so there could be familiarity with the organization and him. And I'm a Lions fan, so I'm not in love with this happening, but it would make some sense.
There is a lot of sentiment that Aaron Glenn might be an even better head coach than coordinator. His motivation skills are elite. He was voted as favorite coordinator in NFL by players for a reason. His speeches are on the same rung as Campbell. He's had four years to soak and help create the culture in Detroit. I could see him, Deshea Townsend, and Ty Montgomery being an enticing staff to any team, I just don't know if that's New Orleans. There's familiarity with similar defensive system and faces in the building, but New Orleans is a mess. The fans might now have the patience for the time it takes when bringing in a D-focused coach he in some ways is an Allen holdover. Fair or not that's how it might be seen. I think NYJ, esp. if they hire Chris Spielmen, would be a better fit. I'm a Lion's fan as well, so I don't want to see him leave. But if he does I'd like for him to go to a situation where he's going to have the necessary support and time to thrive.
Love the in-depth analysis even if I don’t 100% agree with you all the time. Before I watched the video, I already loved the Joe Brady to the Jaguars fit and the Trevor/BTJ/Engram/Etienne personnel with the Bills. I am also much higher on Aaron Glenn and think he could be an intriguing fit with Montez Sweat and Jaylon Johnson there with the Bears. Finally, I’d really like to see Liam Coen go to the Raiders and maybe they can have AOC/Carson Beck in a QB battle and they can focus on building an awesome group of weapons with Meyers/Bowers/and some more draft picks. Also I feel like Ben Johnson might wait yet ANOTHER season, because I think he wants to find a job along with AGM Ray Agnew of the Lions and the only place he could do that is the Jets which would be a rough job to take.
Free sweatshirt?! I got one of the OG black ones that is very faded after wearing to the gym for years and need an upgrade lol. Also great show as always! Used your Ben Johnson talking points to talk to my best friend, who is a bears fan, about why he is the best fit and you should be praying for him to go to Chicago!
The jags should 100% be the number 1 landing spot right now: Baalke has no security in the GM position at this time per the owner himself. The Jags have the 2nd most draft capital of any team in this years draft with 6 picks in the top 130 An owner who quite literally will not raise a finger and pay for everything you ask for no questions asked The weakest division in football that can easily be won The best rookie receiver (by the numbers) in the NFL Highly likely the freedom to choose the GM along with the usual OC/DC choices No state income tax in Florida
I don't agree that the number 1 most desirable opening Job for new HC candidates is the Bears. It's actually the Patriots imo. The Patriots have the largest cap space in the league, The Most Draft Capital, and they no one is on big contracts. Also Drake Maye played really well for a team that had the worst supporting cast in Football. So Ben Johnson (let's be honest) would have the ability to get some of the best players from the draft, from free agency signings, and he would be able to design and offense around Maye. Probably the most athletic QB besides Jayden Daniels.
Raiders QB situation sucks, but you have an owner that will set back and be chill, a ton of cap room, and a really nice surrounding cast with superstars
There are two other reasons Kliff isn't going to leave: He's still getting HC money and none of these jobs are as good as the Washington job right now. I think he's going to get a second chance at a HC job eventually, and what he learns from Quinn is probably going to help him be a better HC.
I get having the Bears over the Patriots but reports are inside the NFL it’s flipped, Patriots have a high pick, QB, money and a stable ownership structure
Vrabel is such a wild card to me. On the one hand, its definitely starting to look like the owner has her hands in the pie over there based on the reports of her hand-selecting Ran Carthon as GM (and now replacing him with another relationship hire), but on the other I'd be extremely hesitant to give roster control to a guy who claims even partial responsibility for the roster moves made by Tennessee in 2020-2022. Based on that I wouldn't want him for a team like the Bears or Jags that are one "just hit a double" offseason and some competent coaching away from being successful. All that said, can't deny he's a good culture coach and he seems to know ball defensively, as well.
55:55 interesting name to consider if Vrabel goes to the Patriots, Josh McDaniels being brought back again. He got the best season out of Mac and is a good OC not to mention nobody is going to hire him away. Could be a really good setup

one thing I think it's worth monitoring is the Steelers DC situation, I don't think teryl austin survives if they lay another egg defensively in the playoffs. not sure who they could get in all reality but I think it would be a good spot for a younger guy to land and learn under tomlin
Flores definitely deserves another chance, but what he did in Miami can not be overlooked as simply bringing in accountability. Fitzpatrick's recent statement how he alienated the staff and nobody would've recommended him is a great reminder, plus if you're a team with a young QB you need to let them develop and you can't just shit on them, people develop in different ways and most often with young men if you constantly tell them they suck theyre just going to hate you, maybe it works on defense but clearly not on offense. Also, multiple people have come out and said he's a changed man, which I don't doubt but give the man that power again, and who knows what happens.

I have a couple issues with the Aaron Glenn segment. 1. Youre unsure if he can carry over the culture aspect from the lions organization of being a headcoach, yet mentioned that as a positive for bringing in Ben Johnson and said thats something that Ben Johnson learned from being with the Lions. 2. Before the Aaron Glenn part, you were talking about Defensive head coaches and mentioned how it was smart that Dan Quinn brought in Kliff and how people wouldnt steal him because he was a failed head coach for other reasons then playcalling, meanwhile, Brian Flores is ranked 2 on this list who is a defensive minded head coach who failed as a head coach for reasons other then playcalling/culture. Obviously Flores is a top tier defensive mind, im not debating that its a bit different from Glenn. But i find it odd to give him the pass and stick him at 2 when Glenn is also a top tier defensive mind, and has the benefit over Flores of not being a failed head coach.
Love my rugby here in Ireland too much to be an NFL expert, but I would say I probably land halfway between a casual and a hardcore football fan. And I just can’t help but think that my patriots would be perpetually resigned to 9-8 / 8-9 records under Vrabel. I just think we have to go for a offensive HC. Max out every thing you could give to Maye, I think he’s gonna be a big time guy in this league. IF Ben Johnson wants the job I would block Vrabels number ASAP.
I think Aaron Glenn is a better HC hire than 7th just because I feel like he has the best chance out of any of these hires to replicate the Dan Campbell culture. Defensive head coaches are typically those hard-nosed culture guys and Aaron Glenn has been up close and seen how the sausage has been made. I think if Aaron Glenn doesn't get the Saints job (I think cuz he has such a history in that building that he'll have interest in that job and he can get some guarantees from the front office), he could be a great fit for the Jets to try and fix that broken culture
First off thanks for uploading this Marcus! Interesting you found the saints would be dead last in places that a coach will last more than 2 years, historically Mickey has given coaches a long leash and I think/pray he has recognised that the roster needs an overhaul or else i don't think he have traded lattimore. What's your thoughts on Adam Stenavich as a HC? Maybe too early but i love taking someone that knows how a well ran organisation is ran. Klint built a great staff on offence but i think the lack of second half adjustments are a real turn off.
Never heard anyone call northern Florida beautiful As a Jags fan it was a suprise to hear anyone make a Jacksonville over Chicago I am in such a bad place with Shad Khan's decision making... Havent had a coach I loved the hire at the time since...Del Rio?
Am a patron/sub so not coming as a TFG hater at all But I so strongly disagree on Flores - Firstly great coordinators do not even guarantee to be adequate head coaches, so yes I agree on his value to the Vikings - Fitzpatrick has said it recently on his podcast, years after he was coached by Flores, that Flores was over his head and became too dictatorial at HC - Fitz laid out how this also did not happen overnight and how he transitioned and "became unrecognisable" and how it was the adversity that made him an egotistical toxic tyrant (a big red flag is how he refused to collaborate with any of his staff when things got tough) - Fitz is a very well tenured journeyman, so coming from him it wasn't a simple case of Flores being too tough for soft warm weather team - I'm a Bills fan so I have very little need to defend Tua, and I will say what he did with a high first round pick asset rookie QB was inexcusably toxic. God forbid you pair him with Caleb or a team drafting Shedeur. - He has openly said that he learned from his mistakes in Miami as you cited, but that still needs to be taken with a grain of salt. McDaniels (equivalently great at Xs & Os equivalent of Flores on the offensive side) repeatedly said that he learnt from his mistakes in Denver. Yet when it came to building culture at the Raiders, he stunk. Watching on, you ironically make a similar call with Kingsbury later (great playcaller not the best culture builder) And from watching more, it seems like you just think Tough=good culture when there are plenty of great HCs that are not as "tough" and on the softer side like McVay, KOC and the top candidate Ben Johnson is not a "tough" coach by any means
I wouldn't goes with Flores unless he's mellowed under KOC. According to Fitzmagic, he completely alienated most of his staff, who you would think would be his guys. Also, there's a difference between tough coaching and constantly calling a player at 3am to tell them they're a worthless POS lol

IF Ben Johnson wants the job I would block Vrabels number ASAP.
bears need ben johnson so bad theres so much untapped potential on that offense
Ima need that hoodie TFG
Todd downing? I think you mean Ken Dorsey. Who was fired from Buffalo mid season, hired by Cleveland, then fired again.
Never heard anyone call northern Florida beautiful
As a Jags fan it was a suprise to hear anyone make a Jacksonville over Chicago
I am in such a bad place with Shad Khan's decision making...
Havent had a coach I loved the hire at the time since...Del Rio?
Am a patron/sub so not coming as a TFG hater at all
But I so strongly disagree on Flores
- Firstly great coordinators do not even guarantee to be adequate head coaches, so yes I agree on his value to the Vikings
- Fitzpatrick has said it recently on his podcast, years after he was coached by Flores, that Flores was over his head and became too dictatorial at HC
- Fitz laid out how this also did not happen overnight and how he transitioned and "became unrecognisable" and how it was the adversity that made him an egotistical toxic tyrant (a big red flag is how he refused to collaborate with any of his staff when things got tough)
- Fitz is a very well tenured journeyman, so coming from him it wasn't a simple case of Flores being too tough for soft warm weather team
- I'm a Bills fan so I have very little need to defend Tua, and I will say what he did with a high first round pick asset rookie QB was inexcusably toxic.
Watching on, you ironically make a similar call with Kingsbury later (great playcaller not the best culture builder)
And from watching more, it seems like you just think Tough=good culture when there are plenty of great HCs that are not as "tough" and on the softer side like McVay, KOC and the top candidate Ben Johnson is not a "tough" coach by any means
I wouldn't goes with Flores unless he's mellowed under KOC. According to Fitzmagic, he completely alienated most of his staff, who you would think would be his guys. Also, there's a difference between tough coaching and constantly calling a player at 3am to tell them they're a worthless POS lol
I know this is a bit preemptive, but at this rate, do you see Jeff Haffley being a coaching candidate in the next couple of years?
Viking fan hoping to keep Flo. Dad is a diehard raider fan who desperately wants vrabel and I just don’t think it’ll happen for him. As always phenomenal show
I honestly think we see a lot of retreads this offseason with Ben Johnson being the only big new HC. I think Liam Coen and Joe Brady stay pat. I’m emotionally preparing myself for the jets to pick Jon Gruden as there HC lol
I think the lions will probably lose both coordinators very interested to see how we’ll replace them
I think the cowboys job might be enticing since all you have to do is make the playoffs sometimes for infinite job security
