Bengaluru recently played host to the prestigious World Coffee Conference. Being held for the first time in Asia, it was a proud moment for our city, which is at the epicenter of the Indian coffee growing region, to be selected as the venue. What was also special was the staging of the first Filter Coffee Championship. I was invited to serve on the jury, and here’s a vlog account of what transpired.

Of course one has to innovate to make things interesting and keep things moving, but nothing will beat a normal filter coffee one finds at many South Indian homes, personally a combo of arabica and robusta with a 15-20% chicory , milk and a just a little less sugar to leave a slightly bitter aftertaste will win hands down, luckily one can find it in most places in the Bangalore, Chennai belt
KRIPAL, I WAS WAITING FOR THIS EPISODE, I WAS THERE
A very small pinch of salt will reduce the bitterness of black coffee and no sugar is needed.
Finally I caught the driver in glass 😂😂
He has appeared in behind the scenes vlog😁
Kripal great to know about this great event for COFFEE lovers ☺👍👍
The word 'coffee' was enough for me to hit on the like button Sir. I love coffee especially the filter coffee. Loved the episode and the idea of having a world championship around my favourite beverage ❤
May we have another episode on this. Missed the event cause of exams. Hopefully there's a part 2 . Can't get enough of coffee. ❤❤
It was honour to meet and take a selfie with you sir.Promote coffee farmer.I am one who returned to farming from IT gaint and would want to put Karnataka coffee in global map.
Feels good to read this..kudos to you
Why is that main judge guy sipping from everyone's cup? Is it like some consistency test?
Yes
Wonderful vblog filter coffee aroma everywhere, loved it. BTW who was the winner and which flavor i wonder.....
The winner was Vani, contestant no 1. We tasted her creations in the vlog.
Our salutations to the Abbha Jifar, Ruler of Kaffe region, were for the first time the stimulating effect of bunna meaning coffee, was seen after the sheeps were bleeting in trance in a place called Kaldi. The original name for coffee in English, most probably without doubt, derived from Kaffe region. So coffee originates from Jimma region in Ethiopia, from a luxuriant high land region but not Arabica. Then brought to India by Arabs or other sea farers centuries before.
Good evening dear Kripal - The title of the Vlog itself is quite eye catching . Not sure if you have been a judge for such an event before . Is this the one that Rohan Bopanna mentioned in your vlog with him . I agree with you and my all time favourite is the Kumbakonam Filter ( degree ) coffee. Oh wow so I am right about my intuitive thought about the background of the WCC . Lovely kind words and candid words by Chef Abhijit 👌👌 Whoa there is so much . So you are gonna be a “Q grader” today . Something new that I learned from RB’s Vlog . That was an interesting background of the Willy’s Jeep . Never knew that Coffee has so many applications. Yes I remember Chandni from RB’s Vlog . Wow that was an awesome introduction for you 👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The first coffee that you tasted and judges had a milk froth which is not my favourite. Calibration is the key for relative comparison. Good interaction with the coffee taster Elena , Chef Sriram , Mr Rao . Coffee no 2 - Looks good however with the lemon in the coffee could be difficult to judge . Never had a coffee with citrus flavour . Usually citrus with Tea is better . Anyways Chef Sreeram was quite spot on with his candid ratings . Yes it’s a massive ask for the judges . Now coffee no 3 - The colour is more tea like and seems to be unique. Now coffee with Jaggery . Looks like each finalist had 2 coffees to offer .No 5 is yet again more milky despite the good favour . Paan with coffee ?? . The last contestant and that looks to be a fantastic filter coffee . Looks like the cold version was like a simple cold coffee. Wonderful judging . Well done dear Kripal . Who was the eventual winner ? Thoroughly enjoyed this super unique and wonderful Vlog . Simply amazing. Immersive experience chief . Thanks for helping us understand that Coffee is complex and not as simple as one thinks . Take care , stay safe and healthy. God bless . Loads of love and respect 🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️
Hi Rajesh, yes, this would be a lovely watch for a coffee lover. Wrt coffee with citrus, well, it makes for a good pairing with cold, dark brews, the acidity pairing rather well with the bitter, chocolatey notes of coffee. Have a great weekend ahead.
@@KripalAmannaVlogs Hi Kripal - Thanks for the clarification. Thoroughly enjoyed this unique Vlog 👌
And the winner was Vani, contestant no 1.
@@KripalAmannaVlogs wow that’s awesome and heartiest congratulations to Vani 👌👌👌👌👌 Thanks once again to introduce us to the world of coffee ☕️
Fantastic content and a great vlog, Kripal.
Very fascinating video indeed!
If ever in Chikmagalur's Mallandur region, try tasting both the filter coffee as well as the Haselnut Coffee in "The Estate Cafe".
I found them to be astonishing.
Kripal full agreement , coffee never tasted better than filter coffee with sugar 👌
I like filtered coffee my gym instructor always told me the morning before the gym to take a strong filtered coffee without milk & sugar.
Thanks a lot Kripalji for your efforts on your video on my favourite beverage !! Excited to try out these myself !!
However, I am curious to know if the amount of coffee or the various combinations (specifically the one with lemon) took it's toll on your body in any way.. or maybe did it get rejuvenated or maybe even hyperactive (in a good way) after so much coffee
Glad you enjoyed the vlog. And to respond to your query on whether this tasting took its toll on the e body: whilst we tasted many a cups, we only sipped a bit from each. So all in all, I may have consumed the equivalent of perhaps a little over two cups over the course of three or four hours. Therefore, it didn’t make too much of an impact on the body. 🙂
Want the cold brew lemon recipe 😅
A Super filter coffee episode.❤❤❤
Extraordinary.
❤❤❤
Hello coffee lovers in the comment section, I have a question for you all including Kripal. I live in Delhi and grew up drinking Nescafe and Bru Instant Coffees with Milk. SInce 2 months, have shifted to Filter Coffee by Cothas. I have been loving it so far.
Looking forward to changing to a better coffee or a level up from the current Cothas Filter Coffee, although nothing wrong with it.
So, can you guys recommend me a good filter coffee? Looking forward for your wonderful suggestions :)
There's plenty of wonderful filter coffees to be had, the Bayar's blend showcased in this show was wonderful too. Also appending links to a couple of coffee store vlogs that I did in the recent past. Cheers!
