Learn how Gallium metal can cause aluminum to become very brittle and essentially melt in your hands. This gallium reaction can work great for opening an aluminum lock, handcuffs, or any other piece of aluminum that you might want to break. only problem is, from what I've heard, gallium takes quite some time to chew through aluminum cause mose locks are made of alumium alloys rather than pure aluminum

Oh this lock is not aluminum? Well, break out the aqua regia( nitric plus hydrochloric acids)! Unless the lock 🔐 is made of pure osmium, that mix will easily dissolve it.

I just did a bit of research on gallium toxicity. The only consistant info was gallium toxicity has been under researched.
It should not be handled without gloves, and if heated, don't breath the fumes. Especially if you heat it enough to burn, which it will. Fumes from burning gallium are definitely toxic.
My concern, originally, was it similarity to aluminum. Aluminum is suspected of causing problems in the brain, because of it's high electrical conductivity. The suspicion is aluminum might cause Alzheimer problem from ingesting aluminum from using aluminum cookware, (think how badly pitted aluminum pots always are). The other way of getting aluminum into your system is via anti-perspirant. The anti-perspirant IN anti-perspirant is aluminum hydroxide, (I think it's a hydroxide. Going on memory, which is minimal, for me).
If aluminum short circuits the brain, and gallium has the same covalency, gallium might also cause the problems aluminum is thought to cause.
Better to be safe. Wear gloves, and stay away from fumes.

I think it was thermal shock, you said it was freezing in the room, adding something that hot in a freezing room would thermal shock anything, the gallium probably didn't need to do much after the thermal shock.

I've never seen an aluminum lock and handcuffs? Especially their chain. Never seen aluminum cuffs or the chain especially. But, that doesn't mean they don't exist.

Gallium costs too much. In my experience, the spy should just invest in good old fashion pliers, but enough said!
pliers wouldn't do anything to a pad lock. As long as it's not case hardened, bolt cutters will cut the bail.
And expense? I just ordered 40 grams on Amazon for ~15.00.
Put gallium into like a web shooter and have like the heater from a hot glue gun and shoot it onto locks and stuff
or if the lock is made if somethin else id use two wrenches.
