This is a great list. I definitely believe you got the top two right, although I might have put Baylor over Barkley. And I love that you included Bob Lanier and Nate Thurmond, two of the most underrated players in NBA history, in your honorable mentions.
I I love this list and would love to see you expand it this way: Re-rank this list based on who you would start a franchise with based on most to least likely to win a ring. Along with the kind of team you’d build around them with modern players you’d pair either them.
Awesome video, Jonny! It's not easy to pick just 10 and rank them. While there are some who I think should be included, but weren't on this list (like McGrady and Miller), I think you have a solid and well-argued list. I especially like how you included Ewing. I don't hear about him as often, but I agree that he was a great center and one of the best. I also like your arguments for Charles Barkley. He was a smaller PF (I heard he might actually be 6'4) but he was incredible. He was tough and an excellent rebounder and hard to stop. Great video again :). Are you posting daily now? Curious bc of videos from Thurs-Sat :) Have a great day!
I like the humbleness of Baylor, he could have taken a ring from the Lakers offer. But he said no i wasn't on that championship team. You just can't find someone like that today. I like the list, but I would agree with a lot of people on here, i would sub out Harden for Reggie!
Was looking for this. Reggie was always hitting big shots, whereas harden thrived in the season and disappears in big moments. Plus, Reggie stuck it out in Indy through turmoil while James creates turmoil wherever he goes.
James harden might be a better scorer- but he only operates with iso or a high pick and roll. Shooting wise Reggie is better- if he would have taken the sheer volume of 3s that harden has taken his scoring would be close as well. Reggie wasn’t a great defender but he def gets the nod due to harden being lazy and a liability. Clutch time miller is miles ahead. Where exactly does harden make up all that ground? He lived on ticky-tac fouls and wouldn’t last in the tough era.
@Jakezimms1990 Reggie is extremely one dimensional even on offense. Harden is possibly the most versatile scorer in history with an arsenal of moves and shots. He also was a dominant facilitator when Reggie is a black hole on offense.
To me, Elgin counts as a player without a ring. Dude only played the first few games of that championship season before he retired, and then when the Lakers offered him a ring, he refused it anyway.
good list, but Karl Malone should be number 1 by far, 3rd all time leading scorer, 8th all time in rebounds, 13th in steals, 2 time MVP (1 beating out MJ), 3 Finals appearances, and his advanced metrics get even crazier while also being one of the most durable players year in and year out.
Great video Jonny. Your list is pretty accurate. Note: alot of these guys played in an era that included Magic, Jordan, and Kobe. Shout out to those guys. I wonder if MJ doesn't retire after the 93 season, is Akeem on this list?
Other video ideas Top 10 players that never made it to the Finals Top 10 players with the worst finals record Players who would have never won a ring if they stayed with their original team
Although this is not my personal list, it’s a good one. For me whether you count Elgin Baylor is not having won a championship or as one time champion he’s at the top of either list for me.
I love this list… wish guys like TMac or Melo Anthony had the resume to join the list… maybe a new honorable mention or most entertaining follow up list?
I agree with other commenters that this is a good video but needs to include only retired players. I would replace Harden and CP3 with Reggie Miller and Dominque Wilkins.
Fun list and well done. I’m not going to be a hater, but I would suggest a few things. Reggie Miller should be on this list. He’s one of the greatest clutch players of all time. Also, I’d say any active player should not be eligible, so no James Harden. Highly debatable, but I’d probably put Chris Webber on the list as well. Had it not been for some very questionable officiating, which I believe you’ve addressed, he’d have a championship over an amazing Lakers team.
I'm a Big Barkley fan, wtih that said, Baylor should have been number 1 on this list. The point you miss with Baylor is how many times he was in the finals. More than Barkley, Malone and Stockton combined. That speeks volumes. Good list overall.
3:50 Reggie "The Knick Killer" enters the chat. The Knicks didn't get to meet the Bulls and MJ at least a couple times losing earlier in the playoffs to the Pacers.
You were right I haven’t gotten past Elgin yet and I’ll eat my words if he ends up being 1 on the list but I’m assuming Chuck is gonna be number 1. The fact that Dominique Wilkins isn’t on this list is absurd. He is the most underrated player of all time at this point. If he came into the nba right now it would be him and jokic as the top player. He was overshadowed by the Celtics than the bulls but make no mistake that man was a killer
I know on the court Malone was trouble but I just wish we could at least put a permanent asterisks beside his name for reasons, I could name about 13 of them. For the sake of keeping it factual I say include it but you GOTTA mention that massive disclaimer as to why people might not rank him so highly. We can’t just act like it didn’t happen.
You should've shown more clips of the insane dunks Chris Paul & Allen Iverson have done...i bet newbies see Chris Paul with Wemby these days & have no idea of the springs he used to have💯
It's a good list. I'd have Ewing ahead of Paul. Not being biased, but most of the great players of the last 15-20 have gotten to eat at the table. That wasn't true in the 80s-90s, so the list should and does reflect that.
Can someone tell me if there is a stat tracking the shooting percentage of the people getting passes from a specific player? Meaning, what were the percentages of the people receiving passes from Nash, Kidd, Stockton (or any other notable passer) That would be really cool to know to compare with their regular averages. I feel like that's the ultimate goal for any PG (traditional PG); create the best possible shot within a given offense
First, thanks for these videos, they're always awesome. I'd only change Harden for Pistol Pete "Maravich" or maybe Nate Thurmond. I say this because even in his best days, Harden always choked in the playoffs and he's always been lazy as f... for defense. Otherwise, I love your list
Luka Doncic at the thumbnail though. 25 years old, going into his 7th season. Some players start their career at that age and the dude is already a Hall of famer.
@@jonnyarnett The next 5 years will be crucial to his legacy. It is fun watching him take over playoff games though (Suns and TWolves), it has been a while since I’ve seen a player do that to a team.
I was a huge Charles Barkley fan but I was a little let down when the Suns lost to the Rockets AGAIN in 1995 despite being up 3-1 in the series. I guess Charles was just not championship material.
Good list with nearly all deserving of inclusion (except one-way/FT baiting Flopper/constant traveling Harden). However, I think the top 4 is debatable considering their supporting casts. Quality teammates (HoF/2+ AS/2+ DPoY) for 2+ seasons while said teammates were in/near their respective primes: - Barkley: HoF's Cheeks, Erving, Bobby Jones, and Hakeem, 3x AS Kevin Johnson, 3x AS Majerle - Baylor: HoF's West, Chamberlain, and Dick Barnett, 5x AS Rudy LaRusso, 2x AS Frank Selvy - Mailman/Stockton: HoF Stockton, 2x AS Jeff Malone (though it was 4 seasons removed from his last AS), 2x DPOY Eaton While Barkley's peak was probably the most dominant of the 4 during which he was without a stellar running mate (vs. Baylor's West/Chamberlain or Mailman/Stockton), he still played with quality teammates for a significant chunk of his early career in Philly and mid/late-prime with the Suns as well as a still good Olajuwon in Houston. While Malone and Stockton get the same pass as Barkley or Ewing for having to play against the 3 greatest players ever (MJ #1, Dream or Bird), Mailman and Stockton were more complete end-to-end players with greater longevity versus Barkley who had arguably had comparably little depth of help necessary for a non-Olajuwon/MJ/Jokic to win a title. Therefore, after factoring circumstances, I would put Malone #1 (since he was beared more of the burden to score, rebound, and defend than Stockton), Barkley #2, Stockton #3 (yes, weird considering he had Malone, but he is debatably the top 1-3 PG ever factoring in teammates), and Baylor #4. West would have been in the same situation as Baylor but happened to remain healthy during that famous 71-72 title run.
Phew, that's a difficult list to make. When I saw some of the honorable mentions it's quite difficult to not have some of them in that list. I am also not sure about Barkley being at the top of the list, I don't think he was consistent enough for that.
i 100% agree with Barkley being #1. i have him around 14-15 all-time on my list and i think he's clearly the best to never win a championship. he was amazing. he just was unlucky to run into the GOAT in the finals. i would move Iverson up a bit - maybe swap with Nash.
7:34 and 8:10 Technically, Elgin DOES have a ring - 1972 Lakers gave him one, even though he did not play in the playoffs that year (he retired about 9 games into the regular season) - seems to have been a "we can do this, you're getting rewarded for your long time VERY high performance" ring.
Only switch I would make is Reggie Miller over James Harden. I know the stats don't totally back it up, but I take into account that I feel like you can trust him in those big playoff moments in a way you never really could with Harden.
Damn shame that Barkley didn't get to the Sixers until 84. A couple years earlier and he would have gotten a ring on that '83 team, possibly even go back to back in '84.
CP3 was always hurt. So like Embid, I've never been surprised not to see him go through the whole thing. Harden was great during the season, not so much in the playoff. It's not the same thing than playing against MJ.
I have the same top-4, just in another order. Stockton's my #1, with Barkley #2, Baylor in #3 and Malone as #4. Barkley and Stockton had the clutch gene, and if Stockton to Barkley had been the standard rather than Stockton to Malone, neither Stockton nor Barkley would have been eligible for this list.
Harden but no Russ feels wrong. I would have to take him over AI, just barely. Sucks there's no room for Nique, Reggie or C Webb. but i can't take anyone off.
My list: 1. Elgin 2. Barkley 3. Karl Malone 4. AI 5. Stockton 6. CP3 7. Gervin 8. Ewing 9. Nash 10. Westbrook Harden probably should be on the list, but I don't want to take anyone else off
As a Lakers' fan since 1978, what if........CP3 trade had been allowed? Still on PurpleGold side, the game following Elgin Baylor's retirement the 33W streak started.......Most of the ringless players faced various dynasties
It should be noted that Karl Malone was also in the Finals in 2004 with the Lakers (no longer as a top player). He could have won his first title but unfortunately for him he was at the height of the feud between Kobe and Shaq and they were the favorites against the Pistons. There was also Gary Payton in that team (he too was no longer a top player and was without rings until then) but he has been "luckier" as he won 2 years later with the Miami Heat always with Shaq on the team (he could be also a player without a ring)
Who do you think is the greatest ringless player??

@@stavrospavlides2093 idk abt any falt earth but i do know that jorbum would get trounced by the 07 cavs purely due to legoat.
Wow the ridiculous arrogance of LeBron fans is hysterical 😂
Great list
I hate the "he never won a ring" trope i used to hear growing up in the 90s/00s. Appreciate greatness while we can
Awesome video Johnny. I think another great video would be best losing finals performances
Barkley avg: 28&12 on 60% is absolute INSANE
4 out of 10 players on the list are just unlucky to play in Jordan's era
This is a great list. I definitely believe you got the top two right, although I might have put Baylor over Barkley. And I love that you included Bob Lanier and Nate Thurmond, two of the most underrated players in NBA history, in your honorable mentions.
I think Baylor accepted his ring but if he didn't then yes I have Elgin over Barkley also.
finally someone who gets it!
Whoa..... where's Dominique Wilkins?
Love DOMINIQUE but who player should you replace ?
I I love this list and would love to see you expand it this way:
Re-rank this list based on who you would start a franchise with based on most to least likely to win a ring. Along with the kind of team you’d build around them with modern players you’d pair either them.
Good video, Jonny. It just shows how much of a force of nature Jordan was in his championship winning days.
Whoa a minute after he posted it. That's so epic
Curious bc of videos from Thurs-Sat :)
Have a great day!
your number one. jonny you been that man for years. i always say hes better than 32 but no one agrees
It is common knowledge why these great players were ringless Jonny! thanks for this great video.
I like the humbleness of Baylor, he could have taken a ring from the Lakers offer. But he said no i wasn't on that championship team. You just can't find someone like that today.
I like the list, but I would agree with a lot of people on here, i would sub out Harden for Reggie!
Very Good List. But you gotta drop James Harden for Reggie Miller.
I agree
Was looking for this. Reggie was always hitting big shots, whereas harden thrived in the season and disappears in big moments. Plus, Reggie stuck it out in Indy through turmoil while James creates turmoil wherever he goes.
are you sick ? Reggie Miller is not on the same planet as James Harden when it’s comes to basketball 😂😂😂😂
Does Elgin Baylor count or naw?
To me, Elgin counts as a player without a ring. Dude only played the first few games of that championship season before he retired, and then when the Lakers offered him a ring, he refused it anyway.
@@jonnyarnettI never knew he refused it.
@@jonnyarnett i’ve always read that he accepted the ring. did he say he declined it?
@@jonnyarnett I always heard he got the ring because he played thay season.
Wait people didn't know he declined the ring.
good list, but Karl Malone should be number 1 by far, 3rd all time leading scorer, 8th all time in rebounds, 13th in steals, 2 time MVP (1 beating out MJ), 3 Finals appearances, and his advanced metrics get even crazier while also being one of the most durable players year in and year out.
Yeah, but it's karl Malone 💀
@@Ansbach38383u Sadly that doesn't mean anything in this convo. He is a shit human being, but a great basketball player.
Sussy Malone💀
Yeah, he is 13 in steals 🫢
@@Ansbach38383uwhat he did off the court has nothing to do with what he did on court.
Great video. Great list, and I won't make any arguments
What happened to the all time team 2k tournament?
Great video Jonny. Your list is pretty accurate. Note: alot of these guys played in an era that included Magic, Jordan, and Kobe. Shout out to those guys. I wonder if MJ doesn't retire after the 93 season, is Akeem on this list?
Other video ideas
Top 10 players that never made it to the Finals
Top 10 players with the worst finals record
Players who would have never won a ring if they stayed with their original team
@jonnyarnett May I ask what the background music that you have is named? I can’t find it in the description.
I was about to rage that Chuck wasn’t on the list, but instead I see Johnny honoured my boy accordingly
AI above Harden - maybe I'm old? - but otherwise great content - love the Stockton Malone shoutout and agree re Barkley
Russ and Vince are the 2 top on the honorable mentions
Although this is not my personal list, it’s a good one. For me whether you count Elgin Baylor is not having won a championship or as one time champion he’s at the top of either list for me.
He has a ring from the 72 season so he shouldn't count
@@Momoman747 ok then he’s is one of the best to have only one.
Pistols Pete's case is more tragic as he lost his life before actually getting his ring he so desperately wanted...it's depressing to think about
Pistol should definitely be on the short list here, but he was retired before his untimely death.
I love this list… wish guys like TMac or Melo Anthony had the resume to join the list… maybe a new honorable mention or most entertaining follow up list?
This is a fantastic list! Only issue is with Barkley at number 1.
I agree with other commenters that this is a good video but needs to include only retired players. I would replace Harden and CP3 with Reggie Miller and Dominque Wilkins.
8:45 peter griffin if he dunk
Couldn’t become the first😢, still love your content❤
This channel helps to cure my depression
Fun list and well done. I’m not going to be a hater, but I would suggest a few things. Reggie Miller should be on this list. He’s one of the greatest clutch players of all time. Also, I’d say any active player should not be eligible, so no James Harden. Highly debatable, but I’d probably put Chris Webber on the list as well. Had it not been for some very questionable officiating, which I believe you’ve addressed, he’d have a championship over an amazing Lakers team.
The first three position can be assigned randomly among Baylor, Barkley and Malone. I should have choosen Maravich too, maybe on top 5.
Good list, T Mac, Westbrook, Reggie Miller definitely HM
In my opinion to be considered top ringless players you need to at least reach NBA finals once.
@penkima4923 😂 thanks so much for this clarification 😂 without it I would keep living not knowing I am bs-ing myself😂
The active players should come off until they are retired; that way, you, Reggie Miller, and Dominique Wilkins could be added to the list
I'm a Big Barkley fan, wtih that said, Baylor should have been number 1 on this list. The point you miss with Baylor is how many times he was in the finals. More than Barkley, Malone and Stockton combined. That speeks volumes.
Good list overall.
GREAT LIST....
3:50
Reggie "The Knick Killer" enters the chat.
The Knicks didn't get to meet the Bulls and MJ at least a couple times losing earlier in the playoffs to the Pacers.
Good to see Nash up here man
You were right I haven’t gotten past Elgin yet and I’ll eat my words if he ends up being 1 on the list but I’m assuming Chuck is gonna be number 1.
Definitely needs a "great player BUT" everytime he's brought up.
I mean maybe just say it like “and here’s the PF on the Jazz…..moving onto the next player,”
He may be/have been a terrible person, but it has no bearing on how good of a basketball player he was.
Somehow I knew you'd have Malone after John Stockton great list love your vids
Nice list Bro, for me i will take AI at number 7 spot instead of Patrick Ewing and at number 10 is Regie Miller!👌🙏
Meaning, what were the percentages of the people receiving passes from Nash, Kidd, Stockton (or any other notable passer)
That would be really cool to know to compare with their regular averages. I feel like that's the ultimate goal for any PG (traditional PG); create the best possible shot within a given offense
Great point on Barkley.
It's funny I was curious about the honorable mentions until I saw your comment
It would be interesting to do a top 10 players with exactly one ring and see which squad is better.
First, thanks for these videos, they're always awesome. I'd only change Harden for Pistol Pete "Maravich" or maybe Nate Thurmond. I say this because even in his best days, Harden always choked in the playoffs and he's always been lazy as f... for defense. Otherwise, I love your list
Great list - I'd say CP3 over Stockton, that's it
Luka Doncic at the thumbnail though. 25 years old, going into his 7th season. Some players start their career at that age and the dude is already a Hall of famer.
I hope he wins a championship, but if he doesn't, he'll almost certainly be number 1 on this list by the time he's done.
Quality teammates (HoF/2+ AS/2+ DPoY) for 2+ seasons while said teammates were in/near their respective primes:
- Barkley: HoF's Cheeks, Erving, Bobby Jones, and Hakeem, 3x AS Kevin Johnson, 3x AS Majerle
- Baylor: HoF's West, Chamberlain, and Dick Barnett, 5x AS Rudy LaRusso, 2x AS Frank Selvy
- Mailman/Stockton: HoF Stockton, 2x AS Jeff Malone (though it was 4 seasons removed from his last AS), 2x DPOY Eaton
While Barkley's peak was probably the most dominant of the 4 during which he was without a stellar running mate (vs.
Jonny, i noticed that you seemed to have a habit of forgetting about The Human Highlight Fiim. Reggie was also missing.
7:34 and 8:10
Technically, Elgin DOES have a ring - 1972 Lakers gave him one, even though he did not play in the playoffs that year (he retired about 9 games into the regular season) - seems to have been a "we can do this, you're getting rewarded for your long time VERY high performance" ring.
My list is pretty much the same but I put Chris Paul above Stockton.
I agree with the names involved, not the ranking.
3:53 2 hakeem clips, or did D ROBINSON Play or am I missing something?
I do love the video though. Thank you for giving love to Iverson.
Gratitude.
Peace to Dominique Wilkins , Sydney Moncrief, Bernard King and Shawn Kemp and Tim Hardaway.
7:13 and 2004.
Only switch I would make is Reggie Miller over James Harden. I know the stats don't totally back it up, but I take into account that I feel like you can trust him in those big playoff moments in a way you never really could with Harden.
Dantley, Maravich, Bing, Thurmond, Wilkins, King are guys to throw in the mix.
Damn shame that Barkley didn't get to the Sixers until 84. A couple years earlier and he would have gotten a ring on that '83 team, possibly even go back to back in '84.
Can you imagine if Barkley played with Stockon what his stats would be??
Would have been disgusting. Something like 31 PPG on 62%.
*puts Luka in thumbnail
*does not put Luka in video
😂
Not bad. I would have Malone and Stockton 1 and 2 with Barkley at 3 but I'm biased.
Stockton avg 9ppg in the finals he suck’s
Harden but no Russ feels wrong. I would have to take him over AI, just barely. Sucks there's no room for Nique, Reggie or C Webb. but i can't take anyone off.
My list:
1. Elgin
2. Barkley
3. Karl Malone
4. AI
5. Stockton
6. CP3
7. Gervin
8. Ewing
9. Nash
10. Westbrook
Harden probably should be on the list, but I don't want to take anyone else off
Phew, was scared for a second there that Baylor wouldn't make this list...
I feel like T-Mac should be on this list but I don’t know who I’d take off.. maybe Gervin
Random Take: John Stockton is the Tim Duncan of Point Guards.
Except Duncan led his team to a championship 5 times 🤔
Barkley and Ewing are two of my favorite player's that I wish at least got 1 ring
