Thank you for this comparison review! I cloth diapered with my first two children but I’m expecting again and it’s been 10 years since I bought my old stash. I appreciate info on some brands I didn’t know about.
I think the different sizes with Thirsties is a huge plus! It’s a cheapish way to get more of an accurate fit than a lot of other options and I feel like each size does go quite far! Especially the size one being useable on a NB up to 16(?) pounds!
Yes, I think even with a one size, very few get from birth to potty training with just the one size so they use 2 sizes anyway, either the teeny newborn or the big toddler. I think its best to get equal wear from a size 1 & size 2.
Thank you so much for this review i am a new cloth diaper mom first time mom to a 5month old baby boy and being cloth diapering for about 3 1/2 months i use mostly pockets and expanding to flats , prefolds for stuffing and covers i have one cover (nicki's) its an amazing cover i want to buy more but not sure about the others this video helps alot
My favourite cover is grovia. Beautiful easy comfortable fit (i find single rows less restricting), soft inside, gentle elastics, beautiful solids! Never have problems with the mesh inside. I use it just like any other cover with shiny PUL inside. Thirsties are great too but the inner gusset relaxes easily and you can’t just change the elastics like the grovia. Buttons are my least favorite. They leave awful red marks. The elastics are rigid and not soft at all. Waiting for my smart bottoms 2.0 covers to arrive! I heard the new version has gentle elastics and honestly that’s the most important to me.
@@angelawilliamson9685 Nicki's Diapers, Flip, Diaper Rite, Buttons super covers, Rig n Gig, Bebeboo only has a front flap which I've grown to love most for poop spraying.
My 22mo still fits into size 1 Thirsties. However, I have found that he rum out of buttons on the snap version, but the velcro version is more customizable. Must say, he is on smallish side though.
My youngest outgrew size one at about three months, I believe. And size two lasted until my three year old was about 35/36 lbs, we had to size up to three for nighttime and they are super roomy.
@@lainaslife6351 would you say the thirsties duo wraps are too loose for the daytime? I have one sized thirsties cover, a medium. It has worked pretty well. It worked best with fitteds but I only ever use flats recently so it seems a little bulky at times (so I've been considering getting the wraps cause I hear they run trimmer) but I love how gentle the thirsties leg elastics are and that there is a stomach elastic.
Curious as to whether you’ve ever tried a Clotheez diaper cover and if so, what are your thoughts/review? Wondering if that’s why I am having some wicking issues- that’s it’s just not a good cover or I need to add extra absorbency, though I think I have enough with a cotton prefold and hemp/cotton doublers for daytime use.
I have a full review on the cloth eez wrap here: th-cam.com/video/1H_ahTcHjl0/w-d-xo.html I think it's a great cover and haven't had any issues with it.
I am new to cloth diapering and planning to use covers and pre folds/ flats with my first baby due in February but was curious about whether you had any issues with the flats bunching? I was trying to decide between using the buttons inserts with snaps or going with my own flats and pre folds (along with a few other brands until I determine which ones I like best)?
I don't usually have issues with my flats bunching because I use GMD muslin for pad folds inside covers and they're thicker. I've tried the buttons snap in inserts and looking back, they just weren't the best. I did like the best bottoms bamboo inserts though (in the small baby days), they work in buttons covers too if you're wondering. I was never a fan of prefolds personally, I didn't like the dry time and I always felt like they weren't wide enough in the hips for my bigger boys, flats are so much more versatile, you can fold them however you need to fit your baby, or just pad fold them.
I'm not a big fan of the buttons super I have, it's stiff, but I'm not sure they're all like that. I really like the Keeper though, plus it has a crossover snap. 😊
I own one and the PUL is pretty stiff. Buttons PUL really varies a lot color to color. I use it for nighttime but because of the stiffness of the fabric, I'm not a big fan.
Have you tried an imagine cover? Do you know how they compare to Nicki's? I have an imagine and I like the fit on my daughter, so I've been interested in grabbing a Nicki's one.
@@whatgwenloves I did some googling and it appears the old Imagine all in 2 covers had flaps! Now they are snaps instead, similar to Buttons or Best Bottoms. The old Imagine AI2 covers look nearly identical to the current Nicki's Covers. I think it's a very safe bet that if you like the cover you have now you will like the Nicki's. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they are the same cover just rebranded because Nicki's owns Imagine.

Yeah, that is ridiculous to be paying that much for covers. I only pay 6 to 8 dollars for my covers and have never had any issues with pilling, leaking, loose threads, relaxing elastics or space. This mentality that if it costs more it is better is so ignorant and sad. For what she paid for just the diapers covers she showed I paid for all our diaper covers and the cloth diapers together. People, do not buy the expensive pocket diapers, diaper covers, flats, fitteds, pre folds, all in ones, or inserts just because they cost more or you see people on here reviewing or showing the name brands. Notice how it is only name brands or etsy shop owners are the ones that only ever get reviewed?? There is your red flag for how consumerism really works. You see all these name brands and all these people with them and that is all you want. But you also miss the other better less expensive ones in that process. Fact is nine times out of ten the cheaper option is better when it comes go these things because they have to compete with the name brands so they are made better. All the diapers she just showed would not last you more then a year or two before getting cracks (often even less) and becoming useless. Now, if you hand washed them and hung dry them like you are suppose to according to their own directions then yeah you may get them to last a year or two longer. Though I have had mine for six years and still going strong and I still buy the same ones off of Amazon and they are still the same good quality as six years ago.
I will have you know I've used these diapers on multiple kids and they have lasted perfectly fine. You seem really worked up about somebody else's opinion. 🤷♀️ But thanks for adding your comment to help boost the algorithm. 👍
Actually, I was just giving some alternative information that could help those not made of money like you. I was in no way attacking you. I was pointing out facts. You are clearly the one who is worked up just because I pointed them out. Also, as a mother with 7 kids and have been cloth diapering for 6 years I can tell that those over priced diapers either are barely used or not used at all. I'll bet you have close to a fifty to a 100 diapers that you claim to use. The fact is while your happy paying $16 for ONE diaper cover $13 on the low end for ONE diaper cover. Most of the people watching you are not made of money so buying unrealistically priced diapers and diaper covers and so many is not feasible. You only need 8 diapers at the most. Not washing every day is disgusting. If you pee in your underwear or bed you would wash it right way. So why not wash your baby's diaper right away? I can tell you. Laziness. Now, if you have over 50 diapers. Each diaper would not be used very much over the years but with the heat of the dryer and the fact that you are letting pee filled diapers sit for a say or more which creates ammonia especially when mixed with poop. That breaks down the diapers and that shows. Also, just because you are either not noticing leeks or not having them does not mean that you have no cracks in your diaper covers. Not in one of your videos did I see any diapers that look more than barely used and no washing does not account for that. No matter how well you think you wash your diapers they will always show how much they are used. The reality of the fact is, I was pointing out cheaper options at a better price that work better and last longer than the diapers you just showed and that for the price for all the diapers you showed in this video only. People could buy both the covers and the diapers. As far as the algorithm, who cares. I was only pointing out more realistic and better options. You got offended at me because. I am not offended by you in any way. I think it is always cute when a mother talks about her cloth diapers. But I also noticed a lot of people both mothers and fathers pushing for diapers that do not last and are only name brand or etsy and cost ridiculous amounts of money. Part of having a TH-cam channel means you going to get comments from people who are very experienced in the area you chose to base your content in. As a result some of those very experienced people like myself, will point out better ways of doing things. You need to not get offended by that but rather learn from it.

Do you fold your prefolds into pads and use as a insert and just lay in top ?
You can use a prefold folded into thirds as an insert inside a pocket diaper or lay it inside of a cover.
Did you use a large muslin flat & cover when your baby is 5months old? Isn’t it too bulky on a 5month old?
