Me and my husband are living in Dublin and are planning to invite my mother in law for a short stay. I was reading online and it said that with BIVS (British Irish Visa Scheme) endorsement one can visit both UK and Ireland. But the first step to that is to have either a UK or Irish Tourist Visa based on your entry country. My questions are :
1. If we request a UK visa with BIVS stamp(as it is for 6 months), how long do we have to stay in UK(port of entry) before travelling to Ireland?
2. Once she gets the UK VISA for 6 months with BIVS endorsement. After staying in Ireland for 3 months, can she go back to UK and come back to Ireland, stay for a while and return to India ?
Well first of all, BIVS is totally depends on the visa officer, whether to or not to endorse BIVS on passport. But in most cases, they does.
1) if you guys living in Dublin, why you want apply their UK visa for.
Apply Irish visa, more chances of getting it as you will be their sponsors.

Yes the reason we want to apply for UK visa is, as UK tourist we get 6 month VISA. With BIVS endorsement we can enter to Ireland right !! And we are thinking we will get 6 months to stay in Ireland.

My son has single entry c visa from Feb1-30 th April, but due to school he plans to travel on 25th April, is he eligible to travel? Secondly, can he travel to UK (has BIVS stamp) and come back even after visa expiration date that is 30th April? Please help. Thanks
You can travel as long as your visa is valid. If you’ve BIVS, you can travel to UK as well. As soon as you land in Ireland, you can stay here up to 90 days.

People said that immigration officer would not allow you 90 days of stay if you don't have visa validity. Please confirm that these two things are not related. Visa validity and permission for stay (which will get after arrival ) are not the same and validity of stay is not dependent on visa validity? Grateful!

It should on your visa BIVS.

Hi Dhruv, can a Indian citizen apply for BIVS from another country residing in Schengen country currently? Or is it necessary to apply for BIVS from India itself?
You can apply from any country. But particularly BIVS is not a visa or not a separate visa application. Only visa officer will decide on the day whether they’ll endorse BIVS or not. So You cannot guarantee that your visa will have BIVS, until you will get your passport back.

Haven’t heard about VIBS. Only know BIVS far. BIVS should be endorsed on your visa.

BIVS is only for indians & Chinese Nationals at the moment.

You don’t apply for BIVS, just apply normal tourist visa. It is up to the visa officer whether he’ll give you or not, depending on your case.

He can live as long as he want, but must re-enter Ireland before expiry of his/her visa, if he/she doesn’t want citizenship.

@@prachis9390 means if you want to apply for an citizenship in the future, your only allows 6 weeks out in the calendar year.
If doesn’t want citizenship, he/she can live outside as long aa they want, but re-enter the country before expiration of their visa.
