      Necessity is the mother of invention came from people, who like Doug spent time thinking and problem solving. Once of the things I love about this channel.

    Talk about ingenuity! Lightweight, portable, adjustable and cost friendly. What more can you ask for? Your little workshop is coming along quite nicely. What I like is the fact that when you build a permanent shop all that you have custom build can be transfered to the bigger space. Nothing wasted. I don't think there is anything you can't build or construct with the way you think outside the box.

    Hi Doug, as I was watching you do this, 2 things came to mind. I hope your children watch what you do, so they learn directly from you new things you do, especially when you are innovative. Anything thing that came to mind is you making videos of just those things you invent, or ingenuity you use to make your life much easier. You can sell those videos or have a school of some sort. The possibilities are endless. Awesome to watch. Thanks

    A suggestion in case it might be helpful. You may already know this, but you could make small sand bags tied to the tripod to weight it down so it would be more secure. Just a thought. I think it's a great idea to use a tripod

    I am Doug/Ashley/Belle/Maverick team ALL THE WAY. NOW, we can clearly see why it's taken so long to make progress on the house... so many set backs, and you all take them so very well, thank you. I know I'm an addict to this channel as it's one of several I follow. Between you and Shawn James, you keep me calm and moving forward. Thank you. Oh, and the walls are going to be gorgeous, as we can all see. I am particularly blessed as the wood finish I prefer is "pickled oak" (whitewashed like yours).

    Necessity is the mother of invention.

  • @garymallard4699
    @garymallard4699 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You can make a simple " Outfeed " table out of shelf material... laminated stuff is slick as a cat's..well behind... some adjustment to match your router table ( one end can match your table and attach to it ) on one or both ends makes it easy to control your fed parts.... i have used scrap sheet products for decades with sawhorses and i have roller stands too..i find a wider and longer surface easier to feed onto ...

    Does Doug’s brain ever stop creating-inventing all sorts of neat stuff?? I bet he even does it in his sleep!! 🤔🙃😊!
    With Doug & Ashley at the helm, the possibilities are ENDLESS!!

  • @garymallard4699
    @garymallard4699 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Another common trick is to add a hinged swing up outfeed table onto your router table...one or both sides with a leg ( 2 per side is better ) that drops down to hold it up...adjustment helps here too ...

    Drill taps are a nifty tool. They make drill taps for impacts that have the drill bit on the tip of the bit so it's all in one, but I did not know they made a hand drill tap that big.

    You remind me so much of how my dad would come up with a solution, before they came out with those sheetrock lifts, he made one out of wood and it worked fine, he just didn't have a crank to lift it to the ceiling, he had pegs and spaced holes in each leg and it was slower but worked perfectly. He was a ''jack of all trades'' like you!! Can't buy it, make one.

      I wouldn't personally call it heavy timber. We are using standard 3/4" thick boards. This the the normal size that is used for walls and ceilings for many decades. You can't really get it any thinner, within reason.
