Great player but how is she "paving the way" for woman's athletics? Many female athletes who came before her over the years have paved the way. I think that phrase, as are terms such as "trailblazer" are very much overused.

Do not focus on Caitlin shooting long threes, but focus on all her basketball skills! She a great skill of handling the back board angles - fast break, bank shot, and impromptu glass shots. Caitlin is a threat when she penetrates so much so that the defense has to collapse around her! That creates all kinds of close basket options for the bigs. Three point shooters are many, but there is only one Caitlin who knows when a three pointer will kill the oppositions m😢mentum. Shooting long threes is a small phase of Caitlin’s overall scoring threat. Everybody sees her passing but too many miss the give n go screens before the pass and the bigs inside screening her defenders off so she get the ball for her magic. Screening is called teamwork. There is a definite Iowa teamwork where each player is in position to make certain shot if other options are not possible. Caitlin deserves the player of the year because she made Iowa teamwork happen. Guys like Michael Jorden, Curry, Bryant, and others made their teamwork succeed.! Other great women’s teams normally dominated because they had superior athletes who put together a semblance of teamwork. Remember Caitlin does not have another superior basketball athlete around her.
