Back then in the 70s it was a very small village, sadew upper Shillong! Living there until the age of ten, then England 🏴 and now Brazil 🇧🇷. My last visit there was 1998!! Paul is such a great host. He introduced him to all the local dishes. Rather than making him eat puri sabji, paratha, and all the North indian food. I really loved this video so much. Can't wait to see other dishes of Meghalaya. Jadoh is my all time favourite, and I need to see all the other ethnic food of this State😍

Kublei shibun paul. Feeling so nostalgic to see iewduh after 20 years where i spent time right from my childhood till i had to leave Shillong for persuing career. Special thanks to david for such a nice video. As per my understanding, lots of people made such video, but i would say this video is far more detailed. Also the food which used to everyday lunch for us during college days. Sa sha ( red tea ) with jingbaam ( snacks ). Also, my all time favourite ... JADO with dokhli/dojaam/do sniyang. Wowww .... I will never be able to forget those. Its been many years away from Shillong so my apologies if any or all of the local terms mentioned wrongly.... North east is at different level.. No beef ban, no religious issues, no racism and violence, very civilised and friendly people. North east is more like a South East Asian countries rather than India.
I’m from the north and always wanted to visit Shillong. The host is very humble and cute! I hope NE can continue to preserve their tribal culture, bless them! They’re closest to their food source, so not judging as a recent vegetarian. Proud of the diversity of the country, thank you for covering them as well.

Fun Fact: The old man with the guitar (street performer) has been sitting there since the early 90s. Jadoh: in many villages they prepare it with chicken blood.

I eat only chicken but pork from North East looks good clean and cooking process so traditional and natural. Because North east culture comes from aborginals and tribals they remained and relied on cattle, it's like cultural shock for us, westerners get shocked by seeing the diversity of India Love from Telangana Telugus Meghalaya As a Hindu I'll say eat whatever you want eat for stomach and respect other sentiments too.

Our Jadoh is completely different from biryani...the preparation, the flavour, the taste, every thing about Jadoh and khasi food is unique.

We usually packed food in banana leaf.
The leaf we call it Lamet
The Lone Rider we here in south India used to ate our meals in bananas plantain leaf and even in hotels they serve in leaves

I eat only chicken but pork from North East looks good clean and cooking process so traditional and natural.
Because North east culture comes from aborginals and tribals they remained and relied on cattle, it's like cultural shock for us, westerners get shocked by seeing the diversity of India

Assam do not consume beef except our Muslim Assamese .
I refrain eating from both pork and beef .
In Assam most fav meat is duck and pigeon .
