The real irony of this is the armor you crafted before getting the steel platebody would have been best to fight the wizards with.
I'm pretty sure that armor is leathery, the chain body would more likely be irony.

I hope you're enjoying the super early-game experience. There's something unique about the feeling of stumbling around and making your own way that RuneScape gives you, that I rarely experience in any other game, and certainly not in any other MMO. I am loving this series! As a tip, this game works in a combat triangle, in that; Melee is good against range, Range is good against magic, and magic is good against Melee. When you were fighting the wizards, your magic defense is very low because of the gear you're wearing. Magic gear and ranged gear gives you higher magic defense (the chestpiece you crafted and then discarded after getting your chainmail was a piece of RANGED gear, and has better magic defense!). Keep up the videos, loving them! Have fun!
I deeply admire your dedication to being a noob. Refusing help, the wiki, and determined to tough it out on your own. This is a real documentary of an OSRS noob. I'm 32 now. And this brings me back to 2005 when I first played RuneScape on miniclip in middle school. I quit for about an 8 year period and only got back into it about a year ago. I thoroughly enjoy this series almost as much as you do. I can't wait for the full series to be released so I can binge one massive video a few years down the road from now.
The different attack styles give targeted experience.
As you level combat skills they also affect different parts of your combat.
Attack raises your chance of hitting not zero.
Strength raises your max hit.
Defense decreases the likelihood of taking a hit.
Generally the fastest track is to level strength then attack and finally defense.
Attack is an equal priority in earlier levels because weapon upgrades give huge strength bonuses anyway. Strength becomes a priority once you get the attack level to wield good weapons

Oh boy if only he knew how intense and hard PVP and late game PVM is. Steep learning curve and fast precise clicks, timing, and keyboard mashing. I would really look forward to his reaction to experiencing PVP and harder bossing if this series continued that far. I would definitely watch every episode along the way
When I started playing Runescape as a kid I used a lot of online guides. RuneHQ was probably the biggest back then. I wish I could see the game again through a newcomer's eyes, so this series is a real gift.
Although watching you play the Restless Ghost I realised I don't remember quite as much as I thought, so maybe if I start playing now I can figure stuff out alongside you.
This will 100% blow up if you keep the uploads consistent, you could definitely make a living out of this.

I understand you like to play other games on your channel but I really feel like you’ve struck gold on this dawg! This was an experience! Seeing someone struggle through The Restless Ghost really reminds me of how long it's been since I was new to RuneScape. I remember being scared of that skeleton when it first spawned my first time playing.

I'm glad this series got recommended to me because these videos are making me happy. Runescape is one of those games that if I play it now, I can only play for a short time then I just take extended breaks but like, this guy is making me want to play again.
The crafting grind you did just to be given an upgrade for free is why most of us fell in love with this game as children and still play it to this day. Runescape is truly the last freeform MMORPG. You got an item, realised you can make armor with it and did the 40 steps to make that piece of armor. That will stay with you forever
Flip- you should drop all the stuff you dont need in the bank when you're not using them. Means you can chop more trees/ fish more. Also having armour on all the time means your run energy goes down quicker, so drop that off when not in combat!

There is a whole world you couldn't possibly comprehend within that paywall shed, but you have to catch a leprechaun in a tree before you get to figure out what exactly that is.
Loving the series. So nostalgic ! I remember the good old days, exploring and trying to figure the game out. I found a wooden shield spawn and a redberry spawn and I would just walk back and forth between the two of them picking them up and then sell everything to the general store and go back again to get a full inventory and repeat over and over again for hours....I also remember walking by a fishing spot one time in a crowded world...the players were "advertising" that they were buying feathers for 25 gp (gold pieces) each....(they were fly fishing) I had about 1000 in my backpack from killing chickens so I traded them and they gave me 25k....I thought I was rich ! I think I killed chickens for five days straight and kept going back to sell them the feathers. Good times....Keep up the great work :-)

Melee armour like metal chain bodies platebodys platelegs med helms and full helms usually all have high ranged defence and high melee defence, with some armours later in the game increasing your strenght, look out for gloves boots and amulets as they will be your best ways of increasing damage early game, dont forget about training ranged and magic tho, the combat triangle is simple and goes like this;
Melee beats range
Range beats mage
Mage beats melee
Ranged armours are things like leathers and hides and usually have good magic defence with lower ranged defence and low melee defence but usually increase your ranged accuracy
Mage armour usually has little to no defence but greatly increases mage accuracy
Mage and range are going to be pricey to train as you will need to pay for runes to do spells and arrows
But they are both neccasary as you will be using all 3 combat styles eventually and you will want high mage for teleports for getting around
Really loving the videos and your unique perspective, very entertaining narrative and a joy to watch , keep em coming :)
Also pvp is actually very complex as it involves fighting with multiple combat styles at the same time with very precise spell timing or gear switching mid fight as well as prayer switching
Also also also your idea of eating mid fight is 100% a good one, just know thay eating does delay your attack slightly, but drinking potions does not, so make use of any that you can get your hands on!

God I love this series. Watching someone fall in love with osrs the same way we all did as kids is addicting.
I’ve been playing RuneScape since I was 9 years old, and still play OSRS to this day (now 28, you never quit) and damn this series takes me back to when I was 9 playing for the first time. Figuring out everything yourself, tiny grinds that feel so big at the start, keep up the content mate - you’re making this grown ass man feel like a kid again.

Love the series thus far. I appreciate how you're not seeking external assistance and avoiding free stuff. Maintains that fresh perspective. One thing i'd encourage is to accept a "Bond" if anyone does eventually offer you one though. It will give you 2 weeks of OSRS' paid membership. Unlocking a bunch of skills and content adding more diversity and challenges, as well as more opportunities to start up your own way. (That is if you dont plan on investing the money into it yourself)
You dont have to use it right away either, so you can stick to the free content and then when you feel you've got it all figured out, expand your horizons. 🤷♂️👍

Love the series! Melee is weak to Magic, Magic is weak to range, and range is weak to melee! So when you’re wearing melee armor, you have negative magic effects!

Very much agree with this! I think not looking up the wiki is a good idea but asking players in game is totally the RuneScape experience. I can remember back in the day seeing someone with high leveled gear and just asking them the simplest thing to hope they have the knowledge lol.
Almost all the time someone in the game is more than willing to help you out with some knowledge :) the RuneScape community is very wholesome and helping!

I don't know how, but you basically recreated every step of the confusion and excitement of playing this game for the first time knowing nothing. Loving the series!
A helpful tip is something called the combat triangle; essentially when dealing with defense, magic hurts melee, melee hurts ranged, and ranged hurts magic. So the wizard was very effective because your were wearing melee armor. If you had on ranged armor, like a leather body, the wizard wouldn't have been as effective.
My man really spent an hour fire making and the first opportunity he gets raw shrimp to cook he runs to the cooking range 😂 greats series so far!

As someone who started playing in 2006, here's some protips.
Attack = Less blues.
Strength = Higher numbers on reds.
Defence = More blues on you.

Beautiful video. Beautiful series. You noticed how the 'upgrade' in metal armors gave you a lower negative magic defense. That leather armor you spent so long crafting would have been the highest magic defense. Leather armor also has positive ranged accuracy bonuses, while metal armor gives you negatives there too.
