Doll making is a dream of mine and I love the whole process of making bjds but I always paralyze myself before I even begin with all the work that goes into it. Excited to watch and finally break into a new project - thank you!
SAME! It's so frustrating, I think it's definitely "I don't want to do it because I know I'll be bad at first, but I can't get better unless I practice" for me and I just get so stuck
Thanks so much for making these clay tutorials! I want something really specific, and bjds are already through the roof as it is, but what I’m looking for I cannot find at all. I’m going to try to follow your tutorials when I make my first BJD! :D
im trying to make a life size bjd without a head for my art school project, never made one before. your video honestly explained all i needed to know! (all i needed to know, cant speak for anyone else lol)🩷
So very glad I found your video. The doll you made is adorable and I am very nervous about making one of my own. You made it look so easy, but you definitely have talent.
Have been terrified to build one of these. Have the materials but stall out every time. This video explained a great deal of my issues. Love it. Looking forward to trying
I'm working on my own BJD right now. There's not enough BJD content on TH-cam to watch while you work. XD I am firmly on the 3D sculpting side of things. I can make a polymer clay doll without having to worry about casting.
This reminds me of the time I tried making a polymer clay BJD when I'd never made one before and had no instructions/guides... I gave up while trying to make the torso So, you did much better than me!
I have a question how do you connect all these parts together?!! and i want to tell you something that you are a great creative person ❤❤ thank you for sharing this tutorial ❤
Wait, you mean to tell me polymer clay just holds it's shape while you hollow out it's parts?! 🤯 I was worried I'd have to buy a different type of material to practice with because my older clay works felt so flimsy (magnets/food). Maybe I wasn't generous enough with the clay to allow things to stay. For clay dolls, do you just make wigs or are you able to root them?
yes, i definitely recommend againt foam clays or anything super light BUT otherwise, it depends on your sculpting technique, speed and style! a good stone clay is great for those who build up layers slowly, and like to carve/sand out detail. Polymer clay is great if you want to work a piece to 70% completion, then bake and add detail.

YAY I LOVE WATCHING PEOPLE MAKE DOLLS
🥰🥰
I love watching you sculpt; you make it look so easy! She is awesome i really like her! Great job I would love to see her finished!
Thank you Kathleen :)
Why not use smaller wooden beads with larger holes(or make the holes larger) for the elbows, knees etc and blend the clay around them? :)
I will Absolutely injure myself making the slots lol

Still very good. The longer arms are nice, very fantasy, and fun. I think it'd be nice to see her more refined.

YES! Its so fun!
I would very much like to see you finish your doll. I would also like to see how you would fit eyes in if they aren't acrylic.
I make resin eyes!
Love watching you create. Would love a video on how you go about a hollowing the doll in 3d and getting it ready to print!
It’s on the list of to dos!

Once baked, Yes.but very gently while wet too.
Ty! I wanted an animie doll for drawing reference but their all so expensive!
Yeah they can be for sure!
I have air dry clay, so I’m gonna try with that :)
Yes!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
❤❤❤
"it's just white" hey, that's me.
Haha same
Does it matter what kind of clay you use?
yes, i definitely recommend againt foam clays or anything super light BUT otherwise, it depends on your sculpting technique, speed and style! a good stone clay is great for those who build up layers slowly, and like to carve/sand out detail. Its giving baby yoda
Yeah it totally is
is this beginner-friendly? i’ve been wanting to make a bjd FOREVER but i have zero experience lol.
(worth noting that i’m an artist so i have knowledge of anatomy, i’m just not great at translating 2d art into something tangible 🥲)
yes! but just be patient with yourself! It takes time!
You can use pipe cleaners
Yes!
What size of beads are those?
Not sure honestly it’s been months. I buy wood bead multipacks but maybe 14-16 mm?
I was enjoying this but the music was distracting me and I just wanted to hear you so I couldn't turn the sound off.
Sorry!
Oi passando por aqui pra agradecer !
Porque é muito difícil um canal mostrar o passo a passo de um corpinho articulado ❤❤❤❤❤😊
Sou do Brasil 🇧🇷
I’m so glad to help! Welcome and I’m from Canada! Nice to meet you
how big is it
About 35/36 cm I think!
You do not need to send the doll anywhere, you can make casts yourself
HONESTLY, I would LOVE to try this.
