    I'm totally loving Nikkitutorial's tip on Nivea Men's Shave Balm for a primer. It works like a champ and makes the foundation Stay.All.Day. It is heavily scented in case that's a deal breaker for you, but the scent dissipates in a short time.

    • @waymire01
      @waymire01 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Leslie Ryalls I tried it as well.. the "sensitive" version is not as scented if the scent bugs you. It's great, but too moisturizing for my oily skin under makeup. If you have normal or dry skin I would suggest a try.

      Recently I've been hearing a lot of good things about this. I smelled it today at the store, it smelled like cologne so I didn't buy it. Maybe I'll pick it up if you say the smell fades

    • @ANONYMiSSTHANG
      @ANONYMiSSTHANG 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Malinda West it defiantly fades :) works well for my dry skin! I love it. Friendly on the pocket 2!

    • @leslieryalls566
      @leslieryalls566 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Malinda West and +Waymire01 ---it def fades fairly quickly. I did get the one for sensitive skin, too. :)

    • @waymire01
      @waymire01 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Malinda West I can only speak to the sensitive variety but within about 30 seconds the smell is gone. I kept it to try again in the winter. It feels great on and made my foundation look great too.

    I have used this a few times and I agree, it works awesome. Once I used it for an outside wedding in July and my makeup stayed in place very nicely. I do not use it often but when I need it, it hasn't failed me.

  • @Nicolebuenn
    @Nicolebuenn 9 ปีที่แล้ว +25

    This is a technique that could be nice for a special occasion, like a once in a while thing. Prolonged use could probably damage the skin.
    I do love the Monistat Chafing Gel as a primer though, I use it all the time on myself and my clients, it's awesome!

      Jenna G I'm simply sharing a real celebrity makeup artist secret that works ... every performer form J Lo to Beyonce has used this method to keep makeup flawless when on stage and I've been doing this trick for 6 months steadily to see if it changed my skin in any negative way (my skin is better than ever). You can find a bad thing to say about almost anything, but if you feel the risk is too high don't do it ... do what works for you. This is just an option for those special days when you need your makeup to hold up ~ xo's

      Well Tati did say that celebrities use it specially when they are performing. so, maybe we dont nedd to use it everyday and just exclusively use it on this special days when we need that extra longetivity from our base.

    • @waymire01
      @waymire01 9 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      +Tati I've worn it daily for over five years.. it has done nothing but improve my skin. Not only does it fix the oil issue immediately it made my skin progressively less oily over time. I even use it on my eyelids under my regular primer.. makes my shadow stay in the Louisiana heat and humidity when nothing else would. I've accidentally gotten it IN my eye before, didn't even sting. There is a lot of speculation out there ( and a bunch of "crusaders" who bash every post they find regarding it) but I have yet to find an actual case of actual damage on an actual person.. I have seen one or two allergic reactions but you can be allergic to anything.. I'm allergic to "everyone's sweetheart" argan oil- breaks me out in a rash like you wouldn't believe.
      I keep it in a little travel bottle and just apply with my fingers. After a while it thickens up into a more cream consistency which makes it even easier to handle, if it gets too thick just add some water and shake. Nozzles, pumps, etc do not work with it so just find one with a screw off lid. It does leave a white cast but your foundation fixes that.. if you want to go bare faced just put on a bit of primer or sunblock.

    I found your channel back when you started Tip Tuesdays and I was so sad when you stopped doing them. I hope this becomes a permanent series again! I know it's hard to come up with a ton of beauty tips, but there are hacks out there you can easily include in Tip Tuesday videos. As a MUA, I personally don't use this one, just because it can mess with your faces pH levels. But none the less, I'm so happy to see you bringing this back. Thumbs up Tati!

  • @xxviciousbeautyxx
    @xxviciousbeautyxx 9 ปีที่แล้ว +86

    This isn't really a secret anymore, people have known about it a long time. People should do some research though before using these products not intended for your face. Just because it works doesn't mean it's good for your skin. Using this a lot can actually dry out your skin but the main thing is the pH level in this stuff is 10.5, double what your skins natural pH level is. Using this a lot creates an excessively alkaline environment on your skin (instead of acidic) bringing your pH level up which will then remove your skins natural protection and therefore can cause damage to your skin. This info can easily be found online too so it's surprising that makeup artists use this as a secret tip...

    • @turtIesRcool
      @turtIesRcool 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +BellaLove The stomach has a even lower ph of 1.5 and people eat this stuff. Tati's just saying it'd be a great product to use for weddings etc. Using it on occasion. Same concept as with taking it as a laxative. Let's just say too much of anything isn't good for you LOL

    • @xxviciousbeautyxx
      @xxviciousbeautyxx 9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      +turtIesRcool Although she did say in the video that she has been using this for 6 months consistently which means she's probably using it way way more than it should be used. I'm sure her pH level has changed in her skin if she's been using it that much but she just doesn't know.

    • @xxviciousbeautyxx
      @xxviciousbeautyxx 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +turtIesRcool K. There are countless articles about this stuff messing up your skin and any good dermatologist would tell you not to use often.

    • @turtIesRcool
      @turtIesRcool 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      LOL too much of anything's bad. same with apple cider vinegar and lemons but people still use it anyway for their acne or pigmentation and what not.

      Jamie C It really does! I usually take a quarter size amount and start working in circular motions all over my face. You will know when to start applying your foundation because it will start to feel tacky on the skin. I've never really believed primers do anything but I could tell a difference the first day or two after trying this method.
      I found mine at Target in the shaving/razor section. Hope this helps :)

    I love diy tips but yeah I messed around with this one before, but after doing a lot of research, I found milk of magnesia ph is too alkaline for the skin. so it can disrupt the skin and dry out and irritate it a lot, our natural skin is always slightly acidic. but, hey some people swear by putting baking soda on their face (which scares me but to each his own). I think this still isn't bad for special occasions, I know drag queens do it. I'm anal about skin care and have very sensitive skin though so it's not for me.

    How do people come up with this stuff? Lol. Like, I'm just going to rub this here Monistat on my face and see what happens. Haha

      hahahaha nice one!! but logically let's say they do it because of the ingredients.. They have checked and they related to something that has been proved that has some benefits.. but who knows maybe is as u said 😂😂😂

      But what even makes them think to check to ingredients?? I'm not usually in the feminine care aisle or medical aisle looking for stuff for my makeup routine. Lol. I'm not busting anyone's chops, I'm loving the tip. It's just funny to me. 😊

      +Amanda Fox, I was wondering the same thing, hehe. I was thinking if someone just accidentally spilled milk of magnesia on their face (while missing the spoon to mouth motion) and said to themselves " wow this would be a really good make up primer" lol

      no, actually it's because if you have ever used a silicone based primer, you know it's texture and the ingredients. if you feel the monistat primer, it's the exact same texture and almost identical ingredients. not hard for someone to realize.
