Robert Welsh has this line "makeup has no rules... but it does have a theory" and I feel like you and he are 100% on the same wavelength with videos like this!
After Tati (of course), Robert is my favorite! Between the two of them, I have learned soooooo much about makeup application (and I am in my 40’s! 😳). Like all the rest of her hard-core fans, I’m so so happy to have Tati back. It legit felt like something was missing from my life.
Omg SO TRUE! I was literally JUST THINKING (While watching one of Roberts videos) ‘Robert and Tati would 100% get along and make wonderful friends.’ I hope they meet one day. I know she stays away from the TH-cam sphere now after all she’s been through, but she still deserves to meet great people and make close friends, and I absolutely believe they would be if they ever met!
Treating bronzing and contouring as the same thing feels like a mistake on its own, most people are not aware of the differences in both application and undertone selection, it would be nice to see that explained so it’s another mistake to avoid.
My problem is exactly this! I’m pale from my Irish side but still have a golden undertone from my Grandmere (Cherokee 🙂) so sometimes even if you know your undertone you still settle for “close enough” because you can’t afford the $65 foundation that’s a perfect match as an everyday foundation
@@r.carmichael4236 I know it is time consuming at first, but getting a couple of shades and mixing them is how I deal with that. Ulta and Sephora will give you samples so you don’t have to buy two until you find the right combo. I have had so many makeup consultants look at my pale skin and auburn hair and immediately think I have cooler undertones but I actually don’t and they make me look horrible. I didn’t learn about how to mix and match until I worked in a drag bar and those Queens KNEW their makeup! I mix foundation, blush and most bronzers to get my perfect shade.
@@r.carmichael4236 I have the same issue. I’m English and Armenian with light, golden undertones. The foundations that match me are drying, matte and not my fav. Most of the time I end up with foundation too dark or too light. I’ve mixed but sometimes it unflattering.
I think “velvety” is a better finish for mature skin than “glowy”. It’s my experience that going to either Extreme-FLAT MATTE and DISCO BALL in terms of finish tends to emphasize things I don’t want. A SOFT radiance or a DEMI-MATTE would work better than the two I just mentioned.
I'm in my 20´s but I find so much sense in your statement, you´re totally rioght, I've found that while doing my auntie or mom's makeup if I use a glowy primer it emphasizes pores and wrinkles much more
@@sabrinajensen4250 I personally love shiseido foundation and ILMakiage, especially with their blurring primer. Hourglass stick foundation is another one of my favorites)
Absolutely! Natural Matte or satin is my go to for that very reason. I am still naturally oily and my natural oil still breakthrough. So if I try to use anything that's somewhat glowy, I look like a grease ball in about an hour. But I am also 50 and have wrinkles. So any extra glow just emphasizes that. And powders don't really help!
11:15 Blending over the crease is what we with hooded eyes have to do. I'll go back through with a tiny blending brush and a skin-colored eyeshadow and make sure there is a little space between my blend and the brow.
And then when the genetic hooding meets the age sagging those windshield wiper and buffing motions are just right out the door. That just moves my skin from around.
I watched a Sephora video on YT about hooded eye application and he said the same thing about windshield wiper motion not working on hooded eyes. And also aging creased lids I appreciate Tati’s technique otherwise but my eye shape and structure is different.

Tati you are truly a gem. These are the best tips to date on TH-cam. I’ve gotten so good at make up over these last 5 years, doing my liner, brows, using lashes, etc. My main concern is my face looking dry after using setting powders. I tend to avoid using it all over my face, I’ll use my bronzer to set my cream contour, etc. I’ll sponge my setting powder under my eyes with a damp real techniques sponge, that helps tremendously. But on days my skin is extra dry, I have a harder time getting a flawless look that I go for. Any tips would be lovely! After I wash my face and exfoliate, I moisturize my face before foundation, use sunscreen spray, and a facial luminosity spray.
And the eyelash application is *chefs kiss*! It looks not so much like “oh I have lashes on”, it really conceals the band. Love these tips! Please more!!

Loved this one Tati! I really need more lessons on applying lashes. I have practiced over and over and it is still so difficult for me. I have watched a hundred different application videos and it frustrates me so much that I STILL can't get it right.
I love these videos! One of the things I love most about your channel, is when you are trying out new makeup, drugstore or high end, Ty always include the prices. That is key for me, as I’m a makeup collector of both drugstore & high end makeup. And I not only get to see how well it works & the tips & tricks. And if the hype is worth the price. So thank you so much for all you do! I love you & never miss a video!
Loved this video, Tati! I learned alot and you do such a great job in illustrating both what to do and not to do. What a difference just a few small measures make in your makeup application. Thanks for taking the time to show us your recommendations. No one does makeup as flawlessly as you!!! Merry Christmas!
Best makeup tip tutorial I have ever seen. Tati makes it easy to understand with actually showing the comparison on the left side. Love her humor and kindness when she speaks of the wrong way because you know there's people watching who are doing so many of these things.
First time posting, but I need to tell you that you have such a beautiful voice. The way that you give your tips and teach us how to look better is remarkable. Thank you for all you do. Have a Blessed 2022 to you and all your Family!
I started doing my makeup in the very early 2000's. We didn't use as much makeup like they do today. Much of it I think is overdoing it but I have adapted to using a bit of bronzer and maybe some concealer when needed.
Finally! This is the Tati you were always meant to be. A leader and a teacher and you seemed to be more of your authentic self. You're standing up against what society sways us to believe, and even something as just makeup is important. We should think for ourselves and just be open to suggestion instead of trying to fit in to not make waves. It's nice to finally meet you, Tati! Now get working on your first music album so we can hear that pretty voice.
I always love your application tip videos. You’re a natural teacher! I would love to see you review Trinny London makeup! It’s an interesting concept and would love to know your opinion before purchasing. Love you, Tati!!!
I absolutely love and adore Tati! Like since day 1. I'd love to see her pop her blusher up further on the cheekbone. That is my only thing Id love to see. I mean she's the queen! xxxx
Massive U.K. fan loved this video! I'm 48 weirdly I'be been doing the wing since I was 13 BUT I have always lined my lower lash with black eyeliner all the way across never thinking that might look too harsh so are we saying a brownish metallic colour would look best and half the way across. Look at you showing an old dog new tricks! Thanks Tati!! Also can we talk about sensitive menopausal skin what brands do people use? I'm thinking of investing in Bare Minerals? Know you are way younger than me Tati but would love an older relative/friend to do a menopausal make up video with you. Also holla to my PCOS ladies 1 in 20 of us have it do people use more coverage foundation I know I do don't thankfully suffer from spots but since I was 25 have suffered the *have to shave my face every day* thing. Ladies sending love your way and of course to the wonderful Tati xoxo
Love love! Please do more. I have dark discoloration on my cheeks. No matter how light I put on blush ect, those cheeks shine through. I put it a little higher on the cheek than the discoloration.
my wing has changed alot over the years, its been harder lately in my thirties not gonna lie! but this part of the video really spoke to me lol. going to try this technique tonight! :)

I'm just really glad you're back. I couldn't watch beauty TH-cam when you were gone. It just felt like something huge was missing, well because it was. You weren't here. It made me not want to click on any of my notifications for new beauty videos. I just swiped them off my screen and watched other things. I think it's because you're the reason I got into watching beauty videos in the first place so when you were gone they made me feel sad. You and Allie Glines are my personal favorites. Thank you for your videos and the tips and tutorials Tati. Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas to you and your family! I hope you all have a great time this year. 💗
God! I laughed so hard at the eyeliner mistake😂😂 I have been doing that since forever and always wondered what is that I’m doing wrong??? Thank you so much I hope your tip is going to help 🥰😂❤️
Super appreciate these hints and tips! As someone who grew up with brothers, TH-cam has been my go-to for how to do my make up and I'm always up for a refresher as I get older 🤩🙌 Thanks Tati, you're truly the big sister of TH-cam 😁💖
I've been watching Tati since early high school. Now, I'm in my second year of law school, and I have religiously watched every video release. I'm halfway through finals and taking a break to do my makeup and watch Tati. It's tradition.
On the winged liner, you explained it well Tati, but Wayne Goss did a tutorial with a rule of thumb that I found very helpful: When creating the wing, think of following and extending the lower lash line, not the upper lash line. This is because the extension of the lower lash line will always go upwards while the upper lashline tends to extend down or best case, straight out. When you have created the direction and shape you can then join the wing to the upper lash line. It's a great helpful tip if you struggle with doing liner with your eyes open.
I appreciate the eye look for your eye. I have a thicker brow and hooded eyes. I need to recess the hooded area. I still leave a little area below the brow.
I love these type of videos. Tati, you look beautiful and I’m interested in how you do your makeup, the actual application. I think when you are saying I do this people weirdly think that’s a reflection on what they do; that you saying “I do this” is somehow a reflection on someone else’s choices, it’s not. You do you (and tell us about 💛).
Always so helpful. I think too that it’s important to make up the face you have, not just following a video and expecting your look will be the exact same. It’s great to be inspired but do YOUR makeup, not someone else’s.
Aah! Finally the video i have been waiting for! Loveeee it!! The eyeliner and falsies tips were superb! Pls do a full face and tips together!! Love learning from u!
Best part to setting spray is not looking a powdery , ill even melt my makeup in with my BB and SP , love this technique. Thanks Tati your the best 😘😊❤️
Super, super helpful! On a side note, been using your secret on how to smoke out with a hooded eye and it is doing wonders to lift! Question on applying mascara on lower lashes - do or don’t? I see others apply flawlessly with every lash separated and no fallout residue but never applies well when I do it.
This was super helpful Tati! Lashes are so new to me and they were never turning out like yours and I would’ve never known!! Thank you so much!!!! ❤️❤️
I get sweet energy from Tati that has me feeling so grateful that she's back. I'm in to make up, but I'm more into YOU! When your video starts I grab my coffee and have a visit with a dear friend. ❤
Love love love this video!!! You can see the differences so obviously on how it changes your face shape so much!! Just ignore the rude people and please continue with the makeup tricks!! Everyone just talks about the products but not how to use them properly.. without these techniques we can’t maximize all the amAzing makeup!! ❤️❤️❤️
I definitely appreciated this video because it was packed full of information but was still thorough. I like that I do my own makeup extremely well but I do catch myself doing some of these too often like applying liner wrong or packing on Foundation. Especially as I am aging out of my 30s
My own tips - don’t overdo the eyebrows. Also, know your undertone - not just for foundation shades. Knowing whether you are cool or warm will tell you what colours of blush, bronzer and eyeshadow will look best on you. Not everyone looks as amazing in a warm smoky eye!
I like how Robert Welsh says “there aren’t any rules to makeup, but there is a makeup theory” before he does these videos. Because sometimes I like to wear a purple lip. Purple makes me happy haha. One thing that I do that’s on the don’t side is do a winged liner and then put black liner in my waterline. Sometimes I want that Smokey, squinty cat eye look. I have naturally big eyes though so I don’t mind my eyes looking smaller sometimes
Lol "I'm not setting that other side." Lmao. You're so Funny Tati. Yes it's bad Tati, I'm guilty of doing some of that stuff. I appreciate these videos.
I've been here almost since the beginning and I'm always learning more! I moved from a brush to liquid liner and this made me understand exactly what I'm doing wrong. I'm trying to make it to where I don't need much qtip cleanup.
Everyone also remember to place product based on your face/eye shape not just where someone tells you. If a "dont" is better on your specific face then that's what you should do.
I agree 100% with the bronzer tip. Bronzer is for warning up your shadows/contours if you tend to have cold blue/purple/gray/greenish shadows in your skin.
You're the one who taught me it's important to try and experiment with makeup and it's a good thing to use products your own way. So one time when I was traveling, I forgot about some matte eyeshadow and I only had a dark brown shimmer eyeshadow, so I applied some powder with a fluffy eyeshadow brush lightly and spread it out and it was. Creates a very nice smoky eye look. Everyone should try wearing makeup more comfortably. Sometimes a lipstick can become a blush or an eyeshadow palette can help you do a full face of makeup.
Tip: Let your lash glue dry at least 30 seconds. Just put the lashes w glue down in the tray (glue not touching anything as it dries). There's always something else you can do while you wait: highlight, lipline, tweeze something...
Great tips! I wish I could use a setting spray! It always ends up sticking on my contacts. So annoying! Sometimes I'll spray some on a brush and set my under eyes with it though.

Loved this video, Tati! I learned alot and you do such a great job in illustrating both what to do and not to do. What a difference just a few small measures make in your makeup application. Thanks for taking the time to show us your recommendations. No one does makeup as flawlessly as you!!! Merry Christmas!
Tati if you could review the jaw-droppingly gorgeous Florasis makeup… we need to know 😩
I love it when you do these videos, Tati! You’ve taught me so much over the years - I super value your knowledge and expertise! Thank you!
Best makeup tip tutorial I have ever seen. Tati makes it easy to understand with actually showing the comparison on the left side. Love her humor and kindness when she speaks of the wrong way because you know there's people watching who are doing so many of these things.
Love this. Love all your tips. I would love do's and don'ts that AGE YOU. looking forward to your next one.🥰
First time posting, but I need to tell you that you have such a beautiful voice. The way that you give your tips and teach us how to look better is remarkable. Thank you for all you do. Have a Blessed 2022 to you and all your Family!
Literally hit on all the things we 80’s babies struggle with. 🤦🏻♀️ when you mentioned the liner and eye shadow 🎯👌🏼😂👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I need to practice lol
Oh and my name is Renee, too! There aren't a whole lot of us, from my experience. So hi! 😎
I started doing my makeup in the very early 2000's. We didn't use as much makeup like they do today. Much of it I think is overdoing it but I have adapted to using a bit of bronzer and maybe some concealer when needed.
This is an amazing video!! It’s super obvious how much more lifted and open your eye is with the tips and I love it over all!
Now get working on your first music album so we can hear that pretty voice.
i’ve been using hairspray to do my brows for months! i love it so much. i have fairly full brows and most gels don’t hold them in place
Love this type of content! Also, the random chats and “Tati revelations” you have. Sometimes we all need a little Tati life wisdom!
I always love your application tip videos. You’re a natural teacher!
I would love to see you review Trinny London makeup! It’s an interesting concept and would love to know your opinion before purchasing. Love you, Tati!!!
It’s a better day when Tati posts. 💞💕❤️
I absolutely love and adore Tati! Like since day 1. I'd love to see her pop her blusher up further on the cheekbone. That is my only thing Id love to see. I mean she's the queen! xxxx
Up or down, Tatis hair always looks so good!!! Gorgeous always!!!
Know you are way younger than me
Tati but would love an older relative/friend to do a menopausal make up video with you.
Hey Tati!💜✨ Always looking forward to watch your videos🥰 Ilysm!!♥️
Yes please do some more videos like this - I learn a lot and will try these tips!
Super helpful tips with the lashes because I absolutely suck at doing them, lol. I rarely wear any, but if I do, thank you so much, Tati. ❤️
Seriously! I tried AGAIN this morning and it was an EPIC FAIL!
Love love! Please do more. I have dark discoloration on my cheeks. No matter how light I put on blush ect, those cheeks shine through. I put it a little higher on the cheek than the discoloration.
I've been doing my makeup for a few years now and it's still sweet and refreshing to see more Beginner friendly content
Love you, Tati!! Can you please list the products you used/had on? Loved the highlight especially!
Thank you! These videos and OG real in depth makeup tutorials is what we need 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
my wing has changed alot over the years, its been harder lately in my thirties not gonna lie! but this part of the video really spoke to me lol. going to try this technique tonight! :)
thanks for the tips tati i felt like we were right back into the year 2019 or something! time goes so so fast but these types of videos from you are so awesome, then and now!💞
I'm just really glad you're back.
Thank you so much I hope your tip is going to help 🥰😂❤️
me too :) Do you know what brand the eyeliner is? :)
On the winged liner, you explained it well Tati, but Wayne Goss did a tutorial with a rule of thumb that I found very helpful:
When creating the wing, think of following and extending the lower lash line, not the upper lash line.
This is because the extension of the lower lash line will always go upwards while the upper lashline tends to extend down or best case, straight out.
When you have created the direction and shape you can then join the wing to the upper lash line.
It's a great helpful tip if you struggle with doing liner with your eyes open.
I remember when you taught me the eye blending technique years ago. It completely changed my eyeshadow game 💕
This was great. I feel like we get so into our habits or routine that sometimes it's nice to have a refresher course
Thank you for your brilliant expertise!!!! Learning so much from you.
Tati so exciting to have you back with us giving us content love it
We got you. Stop explaining for those types of ppl. You can’t make everyone happy nor should you feel responsible for them. Nice video.
Hi 👋 Beth how are you doing?
I really enjoy tips from a pro. In certain areas, I still struggle. Love this style video Tati! 😘
Love it! SO GLAD you are uploading again... much love. x
I get sweet energy from Tati that has me feeling so grateful that she's back. I'm in to make up, but I'm more into YOU! When your video starts I grab my coffee and have a visit with a dear friend. ❤
This was super helpful! I'm pretty good at contouring my face and lining my lips, but I want to learn and practice eye shadow and eye liner!
I LOVE this type of videos! It just feel like OG make up tutorials
Thank you so much, Tati. I will enhance my own makeup, using the Dont's and Do's for now. Hope the best.
I mix rosehip oil with my foundation. It really helps to keep your skin moistured .
Blush? Highlighter? Lip liner? Lipstick? Eyebrows?
This needs a part 2.
I’m just so glad you’re back. Always enjoy your videos! 🖤
Girl rock that purple lip!
This was probably the most helpful beauty video I’ve ever watched!!! Thank you!!!
I'VE NEVER BEEN SO EARLY! LOVE YOU TATI💕
