Much better thought out than many I've seen online, but the upright mast needs more diagonal bracing down to the base. It shouldn't be flexing with that light of load. The rest of it is well built, I'm just worried about the first time it's used at capacity of the hydraulic cylinder, the mast/main base might fail due to too much stress being focused on to small of area. Just two pieces of diagonal bracing would add a huge amount of strength to an already good design.
please please please NEVER NEVER EVER EVER weld with a can of spray paint on the weld bench.. I watched a friend stick welding swing the stinger over and hit the spray can. when the can blew up it blew right into his face with his welding helmet up funneling the spray paint onto his face which was on fire.. the paint stuck to his face and gave him third degree burns and blinded him for life. he is horribly disfigured and will never see.. I cannot stress this enough please NEVER WELD WITH A CAN OF SPRAY PAINT ON THE BENCH!!!!!!
Hard to believe that extremely rare and unfortunate events actually happened to align that perfect… I’ve been welding for 12 years with my oxy acetylene hoses run right beneath my weld slab, never had a problem. But Good advice.
Good stuff. I really like how compact it gets real fast. Nice design. If you only lift 100-200kg, you can get away with way thinner materials. If you go for more, may worth putting 2 extra wheels cca where the legs fold.
Probably one can buy such a crane for about 3-400 €, but it’s much cooler to see someone actually make it themselves! Great work m8! Really cool project!
I love discovering TH-cam channels that feature well planned, well executed DIY projects. I’m so glad this video popped into my feed, I’d subscribed within the first minute. Keep up the great work!
I was scrolling around TH-cam I love welding / DIY videos and I noticed yours . I love videos for homemade tools and such and I love this one. I love how it folds completely down and the design is is very well thought out and executed . You sir have earned a new subscriber to your channel ! 👍👍 Very nice job I look forward to more of your video's !!
Dude iv been looking for a good build on a shop hoist this is the best one out there. Very good video man hope to see a lot more diy videos you have a tallent
Very clean build and well designed. I'm sure it has it's limits but will handle many projects around your shop for you. The video and editing was well done also! Nice job... Colorado
That is one awesome build! better thought out than many others I've seen on YT! But then mechanical engineering, welding and hydraulics is a little beyond my abilities! Especially since I am a retired RN! LOL!! 🤣 I can do some DIY rebuilding of internal structure of a house or make some decent cabinets but that is my limit! You sir deserve 2 thumbs up! 👍👍!
I had to take a second look reading your thread....to see if it was me who wrote it....I'm retiring RN soon, and. I will build this with my cousin to help move the lathe and milling machine I plan to get soon. just ask professionals their opinion for each step. you can do anything then....
Awesome crane you have built mate! I’m planing on building one aswell for myself can you please tell me some of the dimentions of it? Best regards: Steve!
That's excellent, however I wonder with the winch if you even need the hydraulic cylinder. Seems like just an adjustable stop would work? That, and an electric winch with an old battery on the back of the crane seem like the next logical step.
Nice build. I think I would have raised the lower ram mount up higher (would have given a higher lift to the end of the boom) And used a pull pin to collapse the unit. The ram will raise easier the cranking the hand winch.
Nice build! I see you have the same drill press I do, I've used it on one major project and the next thing I'm doing is reinforcing the table or building a new one. It flexes way too much!
Love your crane! I need to build something similar for a trailer that makes use of a battery operated winch. What type of tubing did you use for the telescopic part?
really great compliments. please can you put me the link where you got the wheels with the size and where you got the hydraulic piston. so I can get one like your thanks.
Great job man!!! Really looks and it works! It will save your back. One friendly suggestion. You need a plasma cutter man. You can go cheap and get a $200 one off Amazon, or do what I did and get the best right off the bat. Hypertherm. American made and the consumables last the longest. It's what most professionals use. The Powermax 30 will run you around $1,500 if you shop around on the internet. The 45, the one I have, will run you around $1,700. Mine was $1,500 but that was the older model. They've since done a re-design and I guess made some improvements. Mine has been problem free for about 8 years. I would say mine gets used pretty hard. I don't even air-arc with my Miller Trailblazer. I just bring my Plasma cutter along and run it off my Trailblazer generator 50 amp plug. Really good job man!
very nice project! congratulations. do you have a project with dimensions that you worked on? I want to create a crane myself, but I don't know the dimensions. thank you 0:01
Wooooow dude why the hell do you have so little views?!!?! This is way more awesome than the cranes built in other channels, I hope one day my skills are well developed so I can build one like yours, keep it up😃👍😃👌🙌🙌
Neglecting the members weight, and taking the max moment( when the weight line of action is perpendicular to the member) around end of vertical member, the forces (cable, hydraulic cylinder, engine weight) will produce a moment equation as: M = Tsin(beta)(x)+Hsin(alpha)(y)-W(x) = 0 from this you can get T = (W(x)-Hsin(alpha)(y) )/sin(beta)(x) H = W(x)-Tsin(beta)(x))/sin(alpha)(y) you can eliminate the cable and calculate for H when max moment is produced. from here you can get whatever T by reducing H or can get T first and then H. you can reduce the horizontal move by making Tcos(beta) = Hcos(alpha); hhh I forget the pully ! oh I have a lot to study
My friend you did a great job but you are using the wrong wire on the winch you should used anti twist wire rope so that when you lift something it does not start turning like what happened with your electric motor:-)))))
Nice design but you should load test it at full extension to a minimum of 150% of the max capacity you claim it can handle. I think you'll be in for a bit of a surprise if you think that can safely lift 1500 kg.

This is perfect. thank you for sharing the skills. i have been
postponing doing mine but now I will not hesitate to do it. its just so
perfect.
Thanks!
Well done .
Now I have a few ideas for my next one.
Thats cable lift is an honestly brilliant idea
Super great build! Love how incredibly collapsible it is. Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work!

Absolute quality mate what a beast well engineered and designed
Thanks.
Great build plan executed flawlessly! very nice!

Winch is pretty great idea, might add it to mine

nice job welding !!!!!and tips
thanks
Nice great job full support here host
The crane looks great! Do you have plans for building it? Or at least some measurements the parts?
Great job man, you can get those electric wenches for fifty bucks, but that would take the fun out of it.lol.
Great video.
Great build!
Awesome attention to detail. Great video
Thank you:)
Perfect job!!! Congratulations.
Zeer mooi projectje trouwens!
Built like a professional
thanks.
Very very very very very very very very very very very very very good job!!!!!
The Green Giant looks pretty good
So glad I live where I can go down to harbor freight and pickup basically same thing for $239.99. Nice work.
Lol I was thinking did he just build an overcomplicated cherry picker?
Josh Kielman winch is nice touch though.
Lovely work. Thanks for the video.
Nice build! I see you have the same drill press I do, I've used it on one major project and the next thing I'm doing is reinforcing the table or building a new one. It flexes way too much!
Thanks. I already have a new, bigger drill but still needs renovation.
I did it with my dad and it is very useful
Great crane, I wonder what I need to build one like it that can pick up a one tonne safe 1000mm high by 900mmx700mm
I came, I saw, I subscribed. Well done, great design mate. 🇦🇺👍

Great work
Superb job, love to have one as good as this 😃👌👌👌👏👏👏👏
Great job nice change from a average engine Crain 👍👍👍
Good video, great idea!
Nice job man!
BEL ATTREZZO
👍👍👍👍
👏👏👏👏
UA. ;)
What did the hand winch do that the hydraulic ram couldn't do.
A new sub for you. This is a great shop made crane. Can you provide the dimensions, and how many tons is the hydraulic ram rated for?
Love your crane! I need to build something similar for a trailer that makes use of a battery operated winch. What type of tubing did you use for the telescopic part?

Nice job my friend...
Thanks:-)
Good day, great video. Can you tell me the size of the materials for the telescopic boom, please, thank you.
really great compliments. please can you put me the link where you got the wheels with the size and where you got the hydraulic piston. so I can get one like your thanks.

.
Would you be able to post future content with specifics (ie measurements, material, tools, etc)?
Your build are incredible keep up the great work !!
thanks
very nice project! congratulations. do you have a project with dimensions that you worked on? I want to create a crane myself, but I don't know the dimensions. thank you 0:01
Está melhor que as compradas
Muito bem pensada
Parabéns
Thanks
No super kolego!!!Łapa leci w górę!!!
Great work 🔥💯🔥🦾
Excelente trabajo, y podrás compartir medidas
Excellent quality!
Thank you🙂
Complimenti bel progetto. Da l'Italia, ciao.
Thank you!
Perfect job!!!
That’s terrific thanks
Very impressive work... Bro👍
Good job
Great simple project!!!
Data/type hydraulic cylinder?
Nice job, now can you build me a roll over jig for my car project please.. lol
Which cylinder is used sir?
Wooooow dude why the hell do you have so little views?!!?! This is way more awesome than the cranes built in other channels, I hope one day my skills are well developed so I can build one like yours, keep it up😃👍😃👌🙌🙌

Sar were you buy this cylinder please give me information
Very nice
My friend you did a great job but you are using the wrong wire on the winch you should used anti twist wire rope so that when you lift something it does not start turning like what happened with your electric motor:-)))))
Ok. thanks for advice🙂
ESSE É POSSANTE, MUITO BOM, SHOW, VOU TENTAR FAZER UM , USANDO ESSE MODELO E O MESMO MATERIAL , PERFIS DE 4MM OU +, ABRAÇOS.
Brilliant 😊
Well done! Maximum lift capacity?
I picked up a stove that weighed 400 kg. I have nothing heavier to lift :)
Outstanding!!
Hello. Nice video. Are those wheels rated for that weight?
Yes, white rolls have a load capacity of 2 x 500 kg. These are wheels from a pallet truck.
சூப்பர்🇮🇳🌷 good work
marvelous!!!!
My crane made with tubes carries 500 kilos, your crane must carry a thousand kilos, due to the strong material.
very nice
Nice design but you should load test it at full extension to a minimum of 150% of the max capacity you claim it can handle. I think you'll be in for a bit of a surprise if you think that can safely lift 1500 kg.
Prize kya he sir ji
Fantastic!
Fabricare uno igual ,very good.
super 😊😊😊👏👏👍👍
thank you great detail video
Excellent, 👍👍👍👍👍.
