Dude I seriously love watching you figure out this game. I get so worried for you! With how carefully you're playing this, I'd recommend setting up base on a Mushroom island, if you're able to find one. No mobs can spawn there, other than the Mooshrooms, which you can milk with a wooden bowl for mushroom stew. They do have caves, but since no mobs spawn, they're pretty safe, except for falling and lava. They are difficult to find, and don't have any trees, so it's a trade off.
