Here's a list of the 20 best plugins we use in our live Unraid environment. There's plenty more we couldn't fit on the list. Have suggestions for beginners? Drop them in the comments below.
Hi guys thank you for watching. As a added correction to the video, if you are on unRAID 6.9 you no longer require the SSD trim plugin due to how unraid now handles them. I apologise and thank the community for correcting me. Cheers
This has to be the best comprehensive overview of useful plugins out there. Half of these plugins I had 0 clue about, this will help me tremendously with optimizing my server.
Now I've been using Unraid for a couple of years now, and I was certain that I knew all the useful plugins, but it turns out I was wrong. Thank you for showing me a couple of very useful plugins that I had never seen before. Thanks again for a wonderful video, please keep them coming.
Have been using Unraid for 5 years, and had never come across Open Files plugin. I have been caught out a number of times and needed to kill files though the CLI (drive unmounting hangs) which is a massive pain. Thanks for sharing!
Fabulous video! I've been using unRAID as a local Plex and backup server for over 2 years now and have not really done much else with it. Installed a number of these plugins/apps.
@@IBRACORP I got a threadripper 2950X for a good price... I got it for $300 less then what is on new egg right now.... It's been a great CPU. Now if I could get more then 28 drives in the main array I would be even happier!
Great video ... Nerd pack is no longer available, Nerd Tools doesn't appear to come with perl so the Dynamix System Temp doesn't work. It would be necessary to install perl manually and I've not worked out how to do that yet.
Thanks for this useful video. As a beginner, Unraid can seem daunting at first, but thanks to you IBRACORP, your video made things much easier for me, a fellow Melburnite!
Thanks for the video! Your vids and guides are incredibly helpful (just finished setting up Authelia, works wonders). Also learnt a few plugins here I didn't know about, so win-win!
Great vid as usual - please do check your mic gate/detection levels - we're losing the first part of some sentences which makes things difficult to follow sometimes 😀
The only thing I don't like about your guide is that you don't give context prior to say to everyone to install plugins... For instance, the "mover" plugin is useless if you don't have a cache drive. And instead of telling people install the VPN plugin (because we'll use it in another video tutorial), it should have been skipped altogether. Only covering thes plugins when they are really in use or useful. But, overall, I good list! You made me discover the appstore, which on it's own it's worth the entire video. :D
Hi! Thanks for the vids. Why didn't you just toggle the Update Applications on restart option in CA Appdata Backup? Wouldn't this make the scheduling of CA Autoupdate unnecessary? i.e. you don't need to make a distinct schedule of updates vs backup?
Very useful video !!! Can you make seperate video only about Dynamix S3 Sleep Plugin and explain all the different settings and options? This would be great.
I greatly appreciate these excellent videos. I noticed you didn't include the "MyServers" plugin, I'm assuming the plugin came out after this video was made? Keep up the great work.
I cant get CA Appdata Backup/Restore to work. I am using a zfs with unassigned devices and manual samba share. the plugin does not even give me errors, it's just not working. Anyone there with a similar setup that got it to work?
@@IBRACORP Weird! What I meant to ask was with regards to Mover Tuning. I tried searching for that plugin on Community apps but I was unable to find it. I really like the idea of being able to trigger Mover based on cache "fullness" instead of just based on a set schedule. Any idea why it is not available (or is it just me?)

@@IBRACORP Is there a source for this? Can't find this info anywhere...
Time for an update video? I'm setting up unraid now and a few of these don't appear to be available anymore...
Sure!

Just done a fresh build and this was just what I needed. Thanks!
My Essentials:
Network UPS Tools (NUT)
Preclear Disks
Unassigned Devices
Unassigned Devices Plus
Parity Check Tuning
Great suggestions David!
Parity Check Tuning extra useful with large drives!
Thanks Jordi that's one I'm sorry I missed, didn't even know about it myself!

It would be hard to get more straightforward and to the point than this. Thanks for your work
Thank you for watching John, that's how we like to do it
great video mate...keep'em coming
Thanks Eli, appreciate the support
I saw your 4 CPU threads and it made me say WOW cause I have 32 threads running and I forgot how clean it looks with out that many threads showing
Haha yeah this is just a test server for videos. But even my Live server doesn't have 32 threads :p

Great video, just had to rebuild my system so a few of your plugins are outdated for 6.11.5. Thank you for the hard work

Thank you I'm so glad you found then helpful. Appreciate ya!
Thanks for the vids! Would love to see an indepth video on fan control options for HDD cooling
Great video! I'm enjoying your content, please keep the videos coming and I'm looking forward to the Wireguard video.
Thank you! I definitely will. Looking forward to sharing more soon

Fixed since then Charlie :) thank you for your feedback and for watching!
Thanks for the demo and info, have a great day
Thanks for the video. I had a lot of these installed but saw a few that I am getting ready to install.
That's what we like to hear, thanks for watching Chris

Thanks for the feedback Steve, appreciate it. Valid points and something to learn from there.
Glad you still found it useful though :)
have you tried using "Disk Location" plugin?
Hi IBRACORP
Very nice list.
Could you maybe create an updated 2023 version? ;)

Hi Alec Gerona, thank you for the feedback, much appreciated!
Excellent videos. Thanks for these :)
My pleasure thanks for watching Marshy
@@IBRACORP so refreshing to hear an Aussie voice in these types of videos.
Is unraid affected by this wireguard removal from distros?
Something a little different for everyone :)
Not 100% but there's no sign of that being the case so far

config editor is not available anymore? thanks for this video. would be nice to get a undated video of these.

That's correct Jason it came after. Thank you for watching 👍
Excellent vid, a big help especially form someone from a windows background
Made by someone from windows background 🙂
I'm a beginner and this helped a lot but I have a lot to learn too.
We all started somewhere 🎯
Thanks heaps. I'm a relative newbie to Unraid and this certainly helped.
My pleasure thanks for watching Chris!
Another gem. Cheers mate!
Thanks for watching Thomas
Is SSD Trim available from anywhere else? It’s no longer in the community plug-ins
It's now integrated in Unraid by default. You can see It in Settings -> Scheduler
Good work man. Keep it up.
Thanks Jared, cheers for watching
Very nice video. Thanks!
Thank you Carl
what theme/template are you using for your unraid
I cant get CA Appdata Backup/Restore to work. I am using a zfs with unassigned devices and manual samba share. the plugin does not even give me errors, it's just not working. Anyone there with a similar setup that got it to work?
CA App data backup is gone - what app do u recommend now?
This was replaced with another version of the same app, see our latest video!
How about
Fan Auto Control
Custom Tab
Recycle Bin
Unbalance
Excellent suggestions those are extremely useful. Thank you for sharing!
Added a few new ones (to me)....thanks!
Cheers David I'm glad it was helpful to you
for those just getting here appdata cleanup is no longer recommended and they say just do it manually like a civilized admin lol
what is this, store brand spaceinvader? jk great video
No, we're like Aldi. We make great products without ripping you off 😛
Hi Ibracorp, first of all thank you for the content! Do you know if
Hi Luis, I think your comment was cut off short. Feel free to edit if you like! And thank you for watching

@@selortondo Really? I just looked it up and it's there on the community applications store. Have you tried searching for Squid repository ?
IBRACORP Yeah, I have. Could it be just a 6.9 plugging? I am still on 6.8
Nah mate I've been running the plugin for years! Might be worth posting on the official unraid forums as squid routinely helps there
Thank you
Thank you Hugo!
there is no perl in nerdtools...
2023 :)
100000000 videos of always the same boring plugins. NEXT
Nah yeah or yeah nah?
Great video man!
Thank you!
