My husband makes fall foods all year round, but he loves this time of year since fall produce is in season. This is his favorite recipe: Haunted Pumpkin pie 1. Combine cinnamon, nutmeg, and butter to coat inner layer of pie crust before baking. 2. Add brown sugar to either fresh or pre made filling and finish baking. 3. Use your choice of black dyed whipped cream or whipped icing BEFORE pie has cooled completely to make spider web marbling that soaks into the top layer of the pie. That sauce looks awesome, you had me at “ridiculous amounts of garlic!” I literally cheered when you added the pomegranates. I’m definitely trying this, thanks so much for sharing!
Yeah, I adore Townsend, but I actually gave you a thumbs up because It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who uses "busting in like the Kool-Aid man" as the go-to example for this mental image.
Voltaire: I use an unusual amount of garlic, 4 to 5 cloves Me being the Italian that I am: So the bare minimum amount Voltaire: Okay I'll use half Me: 😔 Good tip to use the ends to stabilize the squash! And I love the trivia!
Before watching: "Acorn squash..wth is that" After watching: "Acorn squash is literally the most perfect food, also let me tell you about nutmeg and genocide"

I listened to your albums when I was a young'n, and 'When you're evil' and "Ex Lover's Lover' were my absolute mood. Now, as an adult, absolutely wholesome goth home décor and cooking is the new perfect mood. My fiance and I absolutely love it, and look forward to these videos (And may not so secretly pimp them out to our friend as "Videos by 'goth daddy'")
Mmm, those squashes look absolutely delicious (my mouth is literary watering). Can you imagine if Aurelio Voltaire opened up his very own gothic restaurant?
Extra tip: you can mash the sweet squash once cooked through with a little milk. Makes an excellent, creamy dessert 🥰 Love this! Your videos give me great aesthetic pleasure 🖤🤍🎃🍁
My parents used to stuff the halves full of brown sugar and put a slice of bacon on top to bake them. I'm fond of filling them with dressing and baking them. Oh I LOVE dem nutz too!🤣🤣🤣
When I was in high school, I made a stew similar to your sauce with added beef to it. Chopped the squash top off, scooped the seeds out and sliced a thin layer off the bottom of the squash so it would stand up. Roasted it for 40 mins in the oven at 400 then scooped the soft flesh out very carefully. Didn't want to puncture the sides ^_^ Added the scooped squash to my stew then served it in the hollowed out gourd. Delicious P:
I'm so picky with Acorn squash, but I'll cube up a butternut, toss it with olive oil salt, pepper, and lots of garlic and bake it on a cookie sheet. It's fire.
Man these videos are amazing, the whole goth decour makes it a 100 times better. I have always loved your music, but this channel takes it to a whole another level 😁
You should make pumpkin soup. I make it like beef stew, and i add mashed pumpkin and acorn squash cubes. For spices; salt, pepper, paprika, garlic, nutmeg, and pumpkin spice. The nutmeg and pumpkin pie spice mixes well with beef, and gives it a Slavic/Nordic taste.
Ahhh. This is how we Jamaicans and a few other Caribbean islands make soup. I use acorn, butternut, or kubocha squash to give my soups body and a thicker texture...pair it with thyme, smoked paprika, scotch bonnet peppers, and allspice, onions, garlic, cumin...mmm delicious.😁
I've been making the sweet version of acorn squash my whole life! Learned it from my mom! Love acorn squash and I'm totally gonna try the savory version!
I grew up eating acorn squash, one our families favorites in the fall. I had no idea about nutmeg… but learning history hopefully keeps up from repeating it. Btw, the green ones are my favorite and the more butter you add the better!
Came here from jades channel - super excited. Im a sucker for vibey fall recipes that taste good AND make me feel like a vampire living in a woodland cabin making dinner not because they need to eat, but because they enjoy cooking.
Every time you put the acorn squash on the baking pan I yelled, you forgot to put down parchment paper. Love that you are cooking and finding veggies you like.
Voltaire, this squash recipe is best when you rake your fork down the inside ( from top to bottom) to combine all of the ingredients. I've been making it like this for years. So YUMMY and healthy!😋🎃🖤
Acorn squash soup is also DELICIOUS. Although I did come here just to shake my head at the ludicrous gothiness of day-dreaming about autumn in JULY (it's too far away, we still have AT LEAST another 6 weeks before anything cools down, dangit) watching this made my mouth water! Looking forward to more recipe videos!

Thank you for everything and keep up the good work ❤
Absolutely Autumnal deliciousness to enjoy! Thank you ever so much for these incredible recipes and trivia. It was soooooooo interesting. I can't wait to pass this trivia along to all and try these delightful recipes at home for myself.
Thanks for bringing some delicious October to my late July, with a sobering history lesson on the side for good measure! Both of these look amazing, I'm gonna have to propose them to my family for a future dinner!
FINALLY !!! ! You have been plugging this episode all month!! By the way, if there are visible seeds, it’s classified as a fruit. That was a rather seedy video.
I grew up eating these, although we always cooked them face down in some butter and water wrapped in foil so the steam would keep it all moist so you don't have to do that stopping halfway through cause it uses the steam rising from the liquid to keep the whole thing moist. Steam cooking works well from keeping whatever your cooking from drying out while you're cooking it so method of baking stuff like this in a small later of a butter water mixture will keep it all very moist without having to do the basting thing at all. It's the same concept that some more eastern cultures use to cook duck.
🦇 I like acorn squash, I’ve always prepared it the first way, although I’ve never added ice cream. I think the chopped pecans/walnuts would be yummy on it too. Nice video. 💋🦇
Never tried this vegetable before... I definitely should now. Gosh, the editing, everything is stunning. I'm living! The deez nuts joke 😭😂... Sad history behind nutmeg, though. I enjoy seeing you cooking!
Both of these dishes look delicious I definitely shouldn't have watched this before actually getting something to eat lol. And the historical trivia about nutmeg was very cool.
Acorn squashes have always been one of my favorites, but that savory one makes me want to go buy them right now. You knocked it out of the park again, Aurelio!

Also, thanks for a recipes that can easily be veganized!😄👍 PS: Are you going to do a tour of your kitchen? I'd love to see how you decorate a tiny apartment kitchen!
I highly recommend stuffing an acorn squash with a hearty mix of croutons, chopped onions & peppers, curry seasoning and a bit of ground turkey. It makes for a large meal for two, but can easily serve 4 with a side salad.

I found your channel and Love ❤️ it! I’m not Goth but I’ve started binge watching your channel and the tutorials you show are so interesting! I’ve learned a lot and will be using some of the tips and tricks for my type of style. Have a great day🎃
me and my mom made a sticky dessert with them. simply chop it up, roast it in the oven after being covered in cinnamon sugar(or just brown sugar). after that you mash it, mix it with cake mix(i think it was prepared batter) and pumpkin pie filling. after baking it again in the oven you'll get a lot of cracks in it but it's normal and you want to pour a marshmallow glaze on top during this stage so it's seeped into the cracks and absorbed. best served warm but it's very sticky and messy so be warned.
Bit late to the party, but no less fun. Great mini history lesson...on,"deeze nuts!". "I'm crazy about garlic."

We certainly love garlic despite pop culture believing otherwise. 👀
I've always wondered where the whole "garlic is a vampire's weakness" came from?

Voltaire debunking the myth that vampires dislike garlic
Food Theory did a video on this. They presented a lot of evidence why garlic would make humans more delicious to vampires.

What kind of pie filling does he use? The black whipped cream sounds very cool.
If you ever have to ask yourself, "Is this enough garlic," ADD MORE GARLIC.
😄
I love garlic
Ah, garlic... the only reason why I could never be a traditional vampire
Ah, like Townsends motto of "If the Recipe does not call for Nutmeg... A...add I don't know a smidgen, okay alot of Nutmeg."
Correct! You can also roast the garlic to the consistency of mashed potatoes and it's amazing!
That sauce looks awesome, you had me at “ridiculous amounts of garlic!” I literally cheered when you added the pomegranates. I’m definitely trying this, thanks so much for sharing!
