Wow perfect nostalgia. I went for the first time in 1998, so it was very similar to this still of course. Lol the Maxim. I forgot about that place. I also forgot that road sign used to say “Dunes / Tropicana”. I miss the old tackier Luxor and Excalibur, but I still have a super soft spot for them today. Luxor I find to be really decent still. I swear we saw that laser show outside the Luxor too, or something like it anyway. I still am surprised when I go in a casino and I don’t get hit with a wave of cigarette smoke and all the lights are white instead of the off-white or amber of the old days. Nonetheless, if you showed me what it looks like today back then I’d say 2023 looks like the future.
I was born and raised in Phoenix, and back in the early 90's it was nothing like it is today. It was so much smaller! What's north Scottsdale these days was nothing but Desert and a Costco.
19:34 We'll never this again. RIP Mirage and the Volcano. 😕 22:17 Totally forgot about this! The Forum Shops fountain / statute animatronics it was one of the first little attractions I saw when I was there in '96.
Yeah, I'm happy I saw it when I did in the 90s. Last time I was there was 20 years ago, it's unrecognizable now (Now the Mirage is closed, Tropicana is gutted and ready for implosion also) Sad!
I must have just missed it when it looked like that. 🙁 When I was there Xmas '96 into New Years 1997, Harrah's exterior was totally covered in scaffolding.
@@Accessvegas They even serve drinks these days. (Look at that segment again - they are all eating, but there are no drinks, or even empty glasses, on the table).
When Pirates of the Caribbean was debut in the early 2000s, Treasure Island Las Vegas SHOULD HAVE done a live Pirates of the Caribbean show to be inspired by the film. Instead, they got rid of the Pirates Show & replace it with that kinky "Sirens of T.I." which did not last long & eventually in modern 2024 Treasure Island (now called "T.I.") the boats & small pond completely gone too...

wow still cant believe they let people use aolid gold bowling balls, they just had armed security! i didnt believe it till my grandpa showed me his solid gold bowling balls one night!
Is it really a dump? It seems a lot fancier and clearly appealing to people with lots of money to burn. Not saying this is a good thing necessarily but it looks pretty clean to me. If anything I assumed it was a lot grittier (and probably better) back in the day. The rest of Vegas I don't really know anything about.
I was there a week ago. It’s a dump. No more dress code. Cut off shorts everywhere, sandals, tons of homeless people as well as vagrants. No more empty space between the strip and the main entrance to any of the hotels. Ti=ons of small shops selling all sorts of useless trinkets.
Old Vegas just sucked balls ! *So happy to see all those old hotels are finally gone !* Loved to see eyesores, like The Sands, Riviera, and Frontier, etc, are blown up ! 👍
APPRECIATE THIS ❤ LOVE THE 80'S AND 90'S 😊

It's the changing of an image
Formula One The Sphere & Fontainebleau are only the beginning
of a new generation
i wanna see real gritty footage of the south western usa in early 90s when desert towns had the last vestiages of the frontier

I loved the Harrahs with the panel wheel. I thought that was such a neat design and it lite up the strip

Golden Steer is still around today. Old school Vegas
It is! And, still worth the visit.

AWE Good ole Bonnie Springs. You are missed Bonnie.
I have actually been to Las Vegas many times
Single deck 21. Those were the days.
Remember that weird time when the south tower was the only tower of the dunes

New Vegas sucks now.
Hey but at least the 1.99$ breakfast special is only 29.99$ now. Wish I was joking
It was still fun then.... place is a massive dump now
