One of the biggest mistakes the show ever did was let fandom in. In im talking back all the way to season 4 ( with wincest and the convention episode) because it snowballed from there. SPN fandom is the type of fan base you cant let in because it's out of control. In sadly alot of shows creators is falling under this trap. I still say Nothing will destroy a show faster. They have to remember fandom is different from the actual audience. You have to focus on the development of the show and not the fanbase. In another thing with this show, when alot of talented writers and directors left. CW stuck the show with trash replacements. So now this show been cursed with a drunk show runner and average at best writers. This Poor show was doomed.
I agree with you completely about the majority fandom of Supernatural. They seriously have some blinders in front of them if they think the show is the best it's ever been. I think the retcon of God is the last straw for me. I really enjoyed season 11 and the conclusion of the God/Amara story, so now to have Chuck show up and do a complete 180 and suddenly end existence because Sam shot him in the shoulder? Nope. Not buying it. None of the actions of the characters or anything in season 14 gave any indication that the plan all along was to have God suddenly be the villain. If God wanted Jack to die he could've dealt with him earlier in the season when Jack didn't have his powers. Castiel could've tried to contact God when Michael was in Dean's vessel and was threatening to destroy Earth, but decided to wait until Jack threatened to destroy Earth and right before the season finale too. How convenient. This entire season was absolutely terrible.

Shows you how important he was as a character and why they brought him back in the first place. Where's Garth? Is he still a monster? Is he still in the Impala's trunk? It makes me sad that this once great show is now in the hands of incompetent fools.
@andre gentles Exactly! They drop that main plot and now the show is dealing with God and the releasing of all those evil spirits from hell. I'm starting to wonder if next season they will conveniently forget that this happened too. Maybe season 15 will open with Sam, Dean and Cas arriving at the bunker months after the season 14 finale talking about how difficult it was defeating all those spirits but they finally stopped the last one. Now they can focus on finding Chuck and stopping him with a simple spell from Rowena. I mean, if God was stupid enough to let a spell from the Book of the Damned be able to release the Darkness from the Mark of Cain and threaten to destroy his creation then anything is possible. Guess he didn't think that one through.
I watched your Dabb video and I think you hit the nail on the head with him being a victim of the fan service train. The supernatural fans crazy dedication and power is interesting. I'll be honest I quit this season. I watched the first three episodes, the three-hundredth episode, and the finale. I cannot believe Moriah is rated higher than Swan Song. I know I was defending the Chuck thing, but that's only cause I hope they can do it justice (which is possible, but I'm pretty sure it won't be). Alternate Michael was terrible. The parallel universe counterparts were stupid. I am angry I haven't wanted to watch my favorite show. I get the love for the show and characters, but as a narrative there's nothing. None of these stories mean anything. Maybe the real enemy of supernatural is the rabid fans? I didn't know Carver left hallway through eleven but it makes sense if that was has endgame. And to think about what could've been. There might've been a dignifying conclusion there.

I think a LOT of fans have realized how terrible it was. The mellowdrama, the power ceilings... but enjoyed it for the campy fun. And then they just. KEPT. REHASHING. THE SAME brother saves brother, brother is mad at brother, and it got so tiring I barely cared when main characters died this season. Whatever happened to the empty? NO WAY CASTIEL'S GONNA BE HAPPY NOW, RIGHT? That thing just freaking vanished until the end. I guess it got what it wanted? So Castiel's off the hook? Are we just going to leave that or... Also, this series is so long I think people forgot everything they retconned, but I'm glad to hear that Chuck being evil was absolute bullshit. Great content, man.
JayTheZoomster Dean could have regained control long enough to stab himself (kind of like Sam taking control long enough to jump down into the pit) Also, if Jack is more powerful than an archangel then, in theory, he could have used the blade to stab Michael/Dean. And Jack was the most willing to do whatever was necessary to stop Michael including killing Dean. As he told Cass in one episode, “It’s what Dean would want”.
I like to think supernatural ended at season 5. The way it was originally intended... Too much bullshit has happened. I can only hope we get a fitting ending now. Although I’m not 100% sure we will.
Season 13 was ass too. The whole Lucifer being mortal, building his character to change, just to be shafted and tossed into the villain seat was trash. Seriously...He had moments where he saved people. He had moments where he was rebuilding heaven. He even cried because he wanted to be close to his son. The show was going to put Lucifer back as the king of hell because Crowley died. But they shafted him. and the only reason for the last minute villain shift from Michael to Lucifer was because he killed Maggie after she snuck up on him. Maggie being a character from an alternate reality, someone we as the audience barely knew. Meanwhile, Michael’s introduction in season 13 was to kill everybody. He comes in to the main continuity timeline to kill everybody. He comes to the bunker to kill everybody but is immediately trusted after Lucifer takes Jack’s grace...
Realize Michael could’ve took over heaven and Lucifer could’ve went back to hell and the show would be balanced. Sam and Dean would be forced to stop messing with Angels and Demons and the show would go back to lore and monster hunting. Like the mark of Cain arcs were amazing. They could’ve had an episode were Jack meets the antichrist. Or even better introduce Christ into the show. He could’ve started his revelations. Recruiting hunters to fight the beasts that escaped heaven. Just to be slightly corrupt in the sense that he’s about to destroy the world to create a new Jerusalem. One where everyone is Christian. This would’ve created a hunter vs hunter arc. And instead of an end of the season death, Sam and Dean could persuade him into letting the world choose that instead of enforcing it.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I felt like I was in the minority for a long time, but this season finale was a very decisive episode in terms of splitting the fan base.
They actually have been falling since 12 which is great to hear. I want this show to end on a good note but the very very bitter part of me wants it to flame out and have awful ratings throughout. But that would be hard on Jensen and Jared who have been loyal to this far, far longer than they should have
Andrew Dabb was by far the worst thing to happen to Supernatural, and I hope in years to come s12-14 will be ignored. Carver wasn't brilliant himself, and the cracks were getting bigger by s10-11 but Dabb actually ripped the show apart and destroyed everything I loved about it. There's something weirdly petty about it, like he hates the show he's working on, its characters and original mytharc, and he's self sabotaging it, while the fandom (most of which is new and have probably never watched the earlier seasons) cheer him on.
Completely agree, I feel season 12 is just the worst, then 14, and the writing is just god awful lately, obviously 1-5 are the best, then 6-9(maybe 10 & 11) are good, and then it went down hill

The “make Destiel cannon” comments make me crazy. In s14 e20, several shippers swear that Dean and Cas were holding hands as the zombies approached. I’m not sure what show they were watching.
I haven't seen season 14 but that sounds scary!! Let's hope the last season will be a kind of infernal fireworks now that they have nothing to lose, they can afford it but are they able to do it?
I don't know at what point they decided the show was going to end next season but I think if it wasn't going to end then Chuck wouldnt be the villian and the show would go in a different direction, I think what they wanted was an easy way to get to an end point and using Chuck as god to end the world, probably was the convient way of doing it, as well as giving them the opportunity to throw in a load of fan service and nostalgia, I for one am intrigued to see how it ends and where they go with this, but with how many dropped story lines in this season I wouldn't be surprised to see them find some sort of resolution to the end of the world within the first few episodes and then move on to something else!

They used the archangel blade on nick and an archangel had to be the one to wield it for it to work. You see an archangel laying around to stab dean? I didn’t think so

Yeah, this season was all over the place, filled with ridiculous plot-twists that weren't even twists since we've seen these plot devices used way too many times before in previous seasons to already know the outcome without any actual tension. Such twists, minor and dull as some of them were here, that usually were reserved either to the end of a season or the beginning in the past to actually give some real stakes to the plot and characters, and so the season continued the ever annoying tradition of killing major characters or characters in general and bringing them back for the hundredth time with some random yada yada excuse...No one stays dead, everyone come back and when everyone are wallowing in the supposed sorrow of losing their "family" we already know that what we are watching is mere theatre, since the one cardinal rule of Supernatural nowadays is that "important people don't die..." So the death of a character has no real impact, and the not important characters like the hunters from the other world are treated like insignificant objects of cheap screenwriting...and get murdered just like that at the snap of a finger even just a moment before the previous episodes had tried to make them somewhat meaningful...Pointless waste of screen time and maddening disposing of already established canon. Yeah, when jack died barely not even in the middle of the season and the supposed major villain was offed as soon while his masterplan was fully flushed down the drain, I got so pissed and almost gave up watching. I already know that the last season will be a catastrophe...And if they even dare bring back Mary (or Lucifer) again in the next one, I swear to god...Bringing her back in the first place was beyond pointless, and ever since she was written in as a character again I've never seen a good enough purpose for her to be around other than being this commonplace badass hunter and plain mom to the boys to really even like her as a character. Sorry to say...Thank goodness John didn't stick around more than one episode because bringing him back also permanently only to kill him again too for the sake of cooking up some fricking unneeded drama...That would've been the last straw to completely decimate any hopes that I had left and to confirm that the screenwriters no longer have any grasp of what Supernatural is all about...Or used to be when it still was actually engaging and actual plot driven instead of filled with bucket loads of tired deus ex machinas and many times over recycled macguffins that I'm no longer willing to swallow as a long time fan who indeed has been watching this series since the first years it was showing on TV....
Subscribed, holy hell you read my mind! It boggles my mind when "some" say that Dabb has been the best & his seasons 11-14 are the best. Makes me want to scratch my brains out. Dabb seems to think bait & switch & red herrings are the clever way to write. I don't believe he ever knows when he starts a season how it will end. If he does, he totally fails to ever foreshadow it. With Kripke's seasons, you can go back & rewatch & catch clues you never noticed before that lead to the big finale. With Dabb, so many stories are dropped. What he did/failed to do with Michael!Dean is criminal. Jensen was so excited, as were the fans, and they dropped that story so quick leaving us with nothing but frustration & hate. It was totally letting the air out of the balloon before you ever allowed it to fly. Any interesting facets of what could have been Dean's story were handed off to Nick (don't get me started on his miraculous return) and Jack. I HATE how they turned Chuck into the big bad out of petty spite. I will never forgive Dabb for trashing the beautiful voiceover of Chuck in Swan Song. HIs final comments on the Winchesters is poetry, how they did ok, up against monsters, demons and God himself. There are shades of gray, and that is where Supernatural shines, but Dabb hasn't discovered those, he only deals in the obvious & delights in changing things on a whim. Robbie gave us a nuanced God in Don't Call Me Shurley, with real examinations of how God views the world & why he was ready to step away & let it burn. That's the kind of writing SPN & the Js deserve. Not the simplistic, easy, make their actions shoehorn into the ending you want style of writing we get from Dabb & the duo. I hope S15 isn't a disaster, cuz we all deserve a perfect ending. Even if I doubt we'll get it.

Totally agree with season 14 being the worst, but what's with all the season 7 hate? It had some of my favorite episodes and the Leviathan were a great concept, with a horrible, I mean really horrible execution.
Haha, the only reason I still watch the show after the awful season 12 is to see how much more they can fuck up everything and holy hell, they really fuck up EVERYTHING! Michael was somehow more dissapointing than Demon-Dean, even good old Eve had more potential than this. And Chuck? Biggest Retcon ever. I like the idea of chuck the writer as the final villan of supernatural but i have to agree that its compleatly out of charachter and ruins chuck for me because everything he prevoiusly stood for feels like it was for nothing, from passive father figure Who belives in free Will and team Winchester to The fuckin puppet master in one episode
I was watching this season so passively that I’m only now realizing all of the shit you’re saying. I was so focused on all the drama and how this season felt like a cheesy novela that I didn’t realize how frantic and inconsistent the plot was. My GOD I hope they figure their shit out for the last season or I will be VERY disappointed in this show that I’ve loved for so long.
When I was going over my previous episode reviews, I noticed more and more storylines that got pushed or dropped, it was just insane how terribly put together the season was considering it was only 20 episodes.
I've been a fan of the show since late 2006... Andrew Dabb killed the show for me. I finally couldn't do it anymore and stopped watching mid s14 (when Jack killed Michael). I hate what they've done to my show. And I'm really not surprised that the actors are done and finally pulled the plug and decided to move on.
As a SPN fan, I would say that they are milking the show dry. It should have ended in season 5. A lot of episodes are predictable af and I'm happy that they are ending it in season 15
I'm calling it right know, Andrew Dabb and Robert Singer are going to f*ck up Supernatural Season 15. The only hope we have is if they will bring back the creator Eric Kripke to end this Series properly. But they won't do it.

Either way, I think Season 14 has a lot of good episodes, in my opinion, of course but I do think as a cohesive whole it's such a fuckin' mess. There's barely any structure, so many plot lines are dropped. I would've been PERFECTLY fine with Jack killing Michael and taking his grace, becoming the big bad if Michael actually had a you know AN ACTUAL CLOSING EPISODE FOR HIS ARC. But instead no, it's tacked onto a filler episode and in the very last second, too. I also hate how there's no mention of his monsters at all, that was dumb. In conclusion, I don't think this is the WORST season of the show as it does have a lot of episodes I genuinely do like as well as having some storylines and things that I think were pretty well done. (Even if it is a rip off of Castiel's story in a few places, Jack going evil was good imo). I just think this season is kinda all over the place and unlike in Season 6 where they managed to still deliver a somewhat satisfying ending, 14 failed by just completely writing off the Jack plot and chucking God in as the villain for no reason at all. If I were to score it I think I'd give it like a 6.5/10, probably. It's just okay, I guess? Episode wise I like it but in terms of main story and as a cohesive whole it's just so fuckin' messy. Don’t get me wrong I love the idea of the boys and the original story and faithfully watch but in all honesty it’s been a downhill ride since season 6. There has been some good individual episodes and we did get some lovable characters but yea, definitely downhill ride.
Season 13 wasn't really that bad.... It was just there! The first six episodes had a decent narrative, it was the boys differing on what to do with Jack, and Jack trying get accepted by Dean... If most of the season was about that, them trying to build that relationship between Jack and the boys, maybe Jack wouldn't have been such a wasted character. But nope, almost immediately after Cass is back, that development and story arc flew right out the window! Season 14 was much worse.... no decent narrative, no good story arc, it was just an ADD mess! I was hoping that by this point Jack, the newest character, would have some character growth... But nope, he was still that same child looking at the world for the first time! Kind of wore off after a while! Hopefully next season, he'll have grown up and talk like a normal person! I think you're right, if they had had Chuck there for a few more episodes to explore why he turned into a total ass, then it would have made more sense. Instead we get him showing up with a hate on for Jack, which I guess it's understandable as he see him as a threat..... But why does he see him as a threat? He's Chuck's grandson! Why not help him instead?

I quit watching after season 12, but have 13 and 14 on DVR. I watched every episode and was ready to give it up back in season 7 or 8 when they were supposed to end the series, so I watched that one, and the next, and the next...So I quit. I thought about watching my recorded episodes to catch up but after the reviews, No. I'm going home and deleting them. I'm done.
This shit has started a long time ago. Season 4/5 is the most prominent example, where there was literally an episode called Jump the shark. Dean's storyline suddenly gets botched and Sam was framed as the hero even though he pulled a lot of dubious shit and only saved the world through a deus ex machina. Amonitrate wrote a really good meta on ao3 about this.
Love the show but your right, no consistency and it keeps getting retconed, really pissed about what they have done with chuck at the end of 14 going in to 15
I loved every season. I skipped every useless episode and only watched the main plot episodes. I will not hate on your opinion. But I will say if I was Chuck and got shot with possibly the only gun that could strike me out I'd be pissed to lmao he was walking away untill Sam decided to try to end all of existence 😅😅😅 I liked it alot. It's more so how they literally pushed him into the final 20 minutes instead of taking an entire episode to fully build the character change properly that got me angry. Also if you only watched plot related episodes, I imagine you skimmed over alot of 12+13 lol
I think the chuck thing was genius, the show was about free will and to realize that this whole time everything was written for them shakes things up in epic ways. Now it's a battle of free will a true test to escape the omniscience of the creator, Metatron said when you write your own story you become God's of tiny proportions that foreshadowing, their doubts about God's intentions are coming full circle. The only thing about this show is the poor execution and stupid filler episodes.

What is the point of making GOD the villain? As he said if he perishes then existence does too. And say maybe just for the sake of ending all monsters and end Supernatural why do they had to make god bad and kill him. I know it's just a show but still you got to remember what you are showing.
When he had Michael locked in his mind, he technically had the ability to stab himself and kill Michael. The logic of arch angel blade is so ridiculous and sloppy, it screams of Dabb's retcon writing.
I'm obviously very late to this video but I do think it's interesting how I can agree, yet disagree on certain things. You liked season 11, but I despised it and thought it was boring. In fact, that's the season that made me stop watching the show cause the episodes just weren't entertaining, I didn't like the story out really anything about it. I think the only thing about it that I did enjoy was the Baby episode and after that one, I chucked the deuces and then waited until just recently to watch everything I missed. You didn't like season 7 or 12, but I kinda did like those. I don't think it was their best, especially compared to some of the seasons, but they weren't that bad. I definitely agree with a lot of other things you said though. Season 14 just had me scratching my head the whole time and the whole thing at the end where they all of a sudden made God out to be this vindictive a-hole, I just couldn't get with that.

Agree with all your points. I’m also sick of all the virtue signaling going on. There was no reason to make those teen girls lesbians. If it actually played a part in the story, then fine, but it didn’t matter at all. The writers just dumped it in there to please the SJW crowd. That whole story angle would have been the same if they were just BFFs. I’m tired of homosexuals being dumped into these shows for the sake of fulfilling some quota. Most people don’t care what the sexual orientation is of some random extra in the background.

I like how God turns out to be an immature child that created existence for the sole purpose of having something to entertain himself and not because he was lonely as so many people in real life think. If I was Sam, Dean, & Castiel, I'd be furious if God pretty much told me that all of existence was created just so he could be entertained, that all the horrible things happening is simply there for him to not be bored. It amounts to basically being told that there is no point to existence and was just done "because he was bored" and that there was never a point. Michael hinted that God didn't really care about his creations early in the season but I figured that was just him lying out of anger & pain for why his father abandoned them and never came back after he killed his brother Lucifer at the end of the Apocalypse. Sadly, that's the only hint we get that there isn't something right with Chuck. It would have been nice if we got more hints so it wouldn't have came so out of left field in the S14 finale. They should have started dropping hints here & there a few episodes sooner as God showed up earlier in the season, letting everyone slowly realize what he REALLY wants. This definitely wasn't the plan from the beginning to have Chuck be the last big bad. Maybe that was their goal back when the "God has a sister" twist came along but definitely not since the beginning of the series.
That said, I hope they didn't forget about the Shedim. I REALLY want to see why even Lucifer feared these things that he locked them up. (The Shedim is probably Lucifer's Leviathans.) I also hope they bring the kid that was born of a demon and a human back. These loose ends not being tied up would piss me off.

Castiel could've tried to contact God when Michael was in Dean's vessel and was threatening to destroy Earth, but decided to wait until Jack threatened to destroy Earth and right before the season finale too. How convenient. This entire season was absolutely terrible.

Shows you how important he was as a character and why they brought him back in the first place. Where's Garth? Is he still a monster? Is he still in the Impala's trunk? Maybe season 15 will open with Sam, Dean and Cas arriving at the bunker months after the season 14 finale talking about how difficult it was defeating all those spirits but they finally stopped the last one. Now they can focus on finding Chuck and stopping him with a simple spell from Rowena. I mean, if God was stupid enough to let a spell from the Book of the Damned be able to release the Darkness from the Mark of Cain and threaten to destroy his creation then anything is possible. Guess he didn't think that one through.

I watched your Dabb video and I think you hit the nail on the head with him being a victim of the fan service train. The supernatural fans crazy dedication and power is interesting. I'll be honest I quit this season. I watched the first three episodes, the three-hundredth episode, and the finale. I cannot believe Moriah is rated higher than Swan Song. I know I was defending the Chuck thing, but that's only cause I hope they can do it justice (which is possible, but I'm pretty sure it won't be). Alternate Michael was terrible. The parallel universe counterparts were stupid. I am angry I haven't wanted to watch my favorite show. I get the love for the show and characters, but as a narrative there's nothing. None of these stories mean anything. Maybe the real enemy of supernatural is the rabid fans? I didn't know Carver left hallway through eleven but it makes sense if that was has endgame. And to think about what could've been. There might've been a dignifying conclusion there.

I think a LOT of fans have realized how terrible it was. The mellowdrama, the power ceilings... but enjoyed it for the campy fun. And then they just. KEPT. REHASHING. THE SAME brother saves brother, brother is mad at brother, and it got so tiring I barely cared when main characters died this season. Whatever happened to the empty? NO WAY CASTIEL'S GONNA BE HAPPY NOW, RIGHT? That thing just freaking vanished until the end. I guess it got what it wanted? So Castiel's off the hook? Are we just going to leave that or... Also, this series is so long I think people forgot everything they retconned, but I'm glad to hear that Chuck being evil was absolute bullshit. Great content, man.

JayTheZoomster Dean could have regained control long enough to stab himself (kind of like Sam taking control long enough to jump down into the pit) Also, if Jack is more powerful than an archangel then, in theory, he could have used the blade to stab Michael/Dean. And Jack was the most willing to do whatever was necessary to stop Michael including killing Dean. As he told Cass in one episode, “It’s what Dean would want”.

I like to think supernatural ended at season 5. The way it was originally intended... Too much bullshit has happened. I can only hope we get a fitting ending now. Although I’m not 100% sure we will.

Season 13 was ass too. The whole Lucifer being mortal, building his character to change, just to be shafted and tossed into the villain seat was trash. Seriously...He had moments where he saved people. He had moments where he was rebuilding heaven. He even cried because he wanted to be close to his son. The show was going to put Lucifer back as the king of hell because Crowley died.
But they shafted him. and the only reason for the last minute villain shift from Michael to Lucifer was because he killed Maggie after she snuck up on him. Maggie being a character from an alternate reality, someone we as the audience barely knew. Meanwhile, Michael’s introduction in season 13 was to kill everybody. He comes in to the main continuity timeline to kill everybody. He comes to the bunker to kill everybody but is immediately trusted after Lucifer takes Jack’s grace...
Realize Michael could’ve took over heaven and Lucifer could’ve went back to hell and the show would be balanced. Sam and Dean would be forced to stop messing with Angels and Demons and the show would go back to lore and monster hunting. Like the mark of Cain arcs were amazing. They could’ve had an episode were Jack meets the antichrist. Or even better introduce Christ into the show.
He could’ve started his revelations. Recruiting hunters to fight the beasts that escaped heaven. Just to be slightly corrupt in the sense that he’s about to destroy the world to create a new Jerusalem. One where everyone is Christian. This would’ve created a hunter vs hunter arc. And instead of an end of the season death, Sam and Dean could persuade him into letting the world choose that instead of enforcing it.
I'm about a year late, but my god this was sooo satisfying to listen to anyways, so validating.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I felt like I was in the minority for a long time, but this season finale was a very decisive episode in terms of splitting the fan base.

They actually have been falling since 12 which is great to hear. I want this show to end on a good note but the very very bitter part of me wants it to flame out and have awful ratings throughout. But that would be hard on Jensen and Jared who have been loyal to this far, far longer than they should have

Andrew Dabb was by far the worst thing to happen to Supernatural, and I hope in years to come s12-14 will be ignored. Carver wasn't brilliant himself, and the cracks were getting bigger by s10-11 but Dabb actually ripped the show apart and destroyed everything I loved about it. There's something weirdly petty about it, like he hates the show he's working on, its characters and original mytharc, and he's self sabotaging it, while the fandom (most of which is new and have probably never watched the earlier seasons) cheer him on.
Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that.

number 2 when he used his soul it went to the empty (dont remember if they ever said what happened to a soul when it is completely used up) so it could be his soul but tbh i think number 1 is more likely

I don't know at what point they decided the show was going to end next season but I think if it wasn't going to end then Chuck wouldnt be the villian and the show would go in a different direction, I think what they wanted was an easy way to get to an end point and using Chuck as god to end the world, probably was the convient way of doing it, as well as giving them the opportunity to throw in a load of fan service and nostalgia, I for one am intrigued to see how it ends and where they go with this, but with how many dropped story lines in this season I wouldn't be surprised to see them find some sort of resolution to the end of the world within the first few episodes and then move on to something else!

Yeah, this season was all over the place, filled with ridiculous plot-twists that weren't even twists since we've seen these plot devices used way too many times before in previous seasons to already know the outcome without any actual tension. Such twists, minor and dull as some of them were here, that usually were reserved either to the end of a season or the beginning in the past to actually give some real stakes to the plot and characters, and so the season continued the ever annoying tradition of killing major characters or characters in general and bringing them back for the hundredth time with some random yada yada excuse...No one stays dead, everyone come back and when everyone are wallowing in the supposed sorrow of losing their "family" we already know that what we are watching is mere theatre, since the one cardinal rule of Supernatural nowadays is that "important people don't die..." So the death of a character has no real impact, and the not important characters like the hunters from the other world are treated like insignificant objects of cheap screenwriting...and get murdered just like that at the snap of a finger even just a moment before the previous episodes had tried to make them somewhat meaningful...Pointless waste of screen time and maddening disposing of already established canon.
Yeah, when jack died barely not even in the middle of the season and the supposed major villain was offed as soon while his masterplan was fully flushed down the drain, I got so pissed and almost gave up watching. I already know that the last season will be a catastrophe...And if they even dare bring back Mary (or Lucifer) again in the next one, I swear to god...Bringing her back in the first place was beyond pointless, and ever since she was written in as a character again I've never seen a good enough purpose for her to be around other than being this commonplace badass hunter and plain mom to the boys to really even like her as a character. Sorry to say...Thank goodness John didn't stick around more than one episode because bringing him back also permanently only to kill him again too for the sake of cooking up some fricking unneeded drama...That would've been the last straw to completely decimate any hopes that I had left and to confirm that the screenwriters no longer have any grasp of what Supernatural is all about...Or used to be when it still was actually engaging and actual plot driven instead of filled with bucket loads of tired deus ex machinas and many times over recycled macguffins that I'm no longer willing to swallow as a long time fan who indeed has been watching this series since the first years it was showing on TV....

Subscribed, holy hell you read my mind! It boggles my mind when "some" say that Dabb has been the best & his seasons 11-14 are the best. Makes me want to scratch my brains out. Dabb seems to think bait & switch & red herrings are the clever way to write. I don't believe he ever knows when he starts a season how it will end. If he does, he totally fails to ever foreshadow it. With Kripke's seasons, you can go back & rewatch & catch clues you never noticed before that lead to the big finale. With Dabb, so many stories are dropped. What he did/failed to do with Michael!Dean is criminal. Jensen was so excited, as were the fans, and they dropped that story so quick leaving us with nothing but frustration & hate. It was totally letting the air out of the balloon before you ever allowed it to fly. Any interesting facets of what could have been Dean's story were handed off to Nick (don't get me started on his miraculous return) and Jack.
I HATE how they turned Chuck into the big bad out of petty spite. I will never forgive Dabb for trashing the beautiful voiceover of Chuck in Swan Song. HIs final comments on the Winchesters is poetry, how they did ok, up against monsters, demons and God himself. There are shades of gray, and that is where Supernatural shines, but Dabb hasn't discovered those, he only deals in the obvious & delights in changing things on a whim. Robbie gave us a nuanced God in Don't Call Me Shurley, with real examinations of how God views the world & why he was ready to step away & let it burn. That's the kind of writing SPN & the Js deserve. Not the simplistic, easy, make their actions shoehorn into the ending you want style of writing we get from Dabb & the duo. I hope S15 isn't a disaster, cuz we all deserve a perfect ending. Even if I doubt we'll get it.

I was watching this season so passively that I’m only now realizing all of the shit you’re saying. I was so focused on all the drama and how this season felt like a cheesy novela that I didn’t realize how frantic and inconsistent the plot was. My GOD I hope they figure their shit out for the last season or I will be VERY disappointed in this show that I’ve loved for so long.
When I was going over my previous episode reviews, I noticed more and more storylines that got pushed or dropped, it was just insane how terribly put together the season was considering it was only 20 episodes.
I've been a fan of the show since late 2006... Andrew Dabb killed the show for me. I finally couldn't do it anymore and stopped watching mid s14 (when Jack killed Michael). I hate what they've done to my show. And I'm really not surprised that the actors are done and finally pulled the plug and decided to move on.
As a SPN fan, I would say that they are milking the show dry. It should have ended in season 5. A lot of episodes are predictable af and I'm happy that they are ending it in season 15
I'm calling it right know, Andrew Dabb and Robert Singer are going to f*ck up Supernatural Season 15. The only hope we have is if they will bring back the creator Eric Kripke to end this Series properly. But they won't do it.

Either way, I think Season 14 has a lot of good episodes, in my opinion, of course but I do think as a cohesive whole it's such a fuckin' mess. There's barely any structure, so many plot lines are dropped. I would've been PERFECTLY fine with Jack killing Michael and taking his grace, becoming the big bad if Michael actually had a you know AN ACTUAL CLOSING EPISODE FOR HIS ARC. But instead no, it's tacked onto a filler episode and in the very last second, too. I also hate how there's no mention of his monsters at all, that was dumb.
In conclusion, I don't think this is the WORST season of the show as it does have a lot of episodes I genuinely do like as well as having some storylines and things that I think were pretty well done. (Even if it is a rip off of Castiel's story in a few places, Jack going evil was good imo). I just think this season is kinda all over the place and unlike in Season 6 where they managed to still deliver a somewhat satisfying ending, 14 failed by just completely writing off the Jack plot and chucking God in as the villain for no reason at all.
If I were to score it I think I'd give it like a 6.5/10, probably. It's just okay, I guess? Episode wise I like it but in terms of main story and as a cohesive whole it's just so fuckin' messy.

Don’t get me wrong I love the idea of the boys and the original story and faithfully watch but in all honesty it’s been a downhill ride since season 6. There has been some good individual episodes and we did get some lovable characters but yea, definitely downhill ride.
Season 13 wasn't really that bad.... It was just there! The first six episodes had a decent narrative, it was the boys differing on what to do with Jack, and Jack trying get accepted by Dean... If most of the season was about that, them trying to build that relationship between Jack and the boys, maybe Jack wouldn't have been such a wasted character. But nope, almost immediately after Cass is back, that development and story arc flew right out the window!
Season 14 was much worse.... no decent narrative, no good story arc, it was just an ADD mess! I was hoping that by this point Jack, the newest character, would have some character growth... But nope, he was still that same child looking at the world for the first time! Kind of wore off after a while! Hopefully next season, he'll have grown up and talk like a normal person!
I think you're right, if they had had Chuck there for a few more episodes to explore why he turned into a total ass, then it would have made more sense. Instead we get him showing up with a hate on for Jack, which I guess it's understandable as he see him as a threat..... But why does he see him as a threat? He's Chuck's grandson! Why not help him instead?

I quit watching after season 12, but have 13 and 14 on DVR. I watched every episode and was ready to give it up back in season 7 or 8 when they were supposed to end the series, so I watched that one, and the next, and the next...So I quit. I thought about watching my recorded episodes to catch up but after the reviews, No. I'm going home and deleting them. I'm done.
This shit has started a long time ago. Season 4/5 is the most prominent example, where there was literally an episode called Jump the shark. Dean's storyline suddenly gets botched and Sam was framed as the hero even though he pulled a lot of dubious shit and only saved the world through a deus ex machina. Amonitrate wrote a really good meta on ao3 about this.
This is literally all the rants I had last year! And the review for season 15 was so close to my top nitpicks.

I think the chuck thing was genius, the show was about free will and to realize that this whole time everything was written for them shakes things up in epic ways. Now it's a battle of free will a true test to escape the omniscience of the creator, Metatron said when you write your own story you become God's of tiny proportions that foreshadowing, their doubts about God's intentions are coming full circle. The only thing about this show is the poor execution and stupid filler episodes.

What is the point of making GOD the villain? As he said if he perishes then existence does too. And say maybe just for the sake of ending all monsters and end Supernatural why do they had to make god bad and kill him. I know it's just a show but still you got to remember what you are showing.

I'm obviously very late to this video but I do think it's interesting how I can agree, yet disagree on certain things. You liked season 11, but I despised it and thought it was boring. In fact, that's the season that made me stop watching the show cause the episodes just weren't entertaining, I didn't like the story out really anything about it. I think the only thing about it that I did enjoy was the Baby episode and after that one, I chucked the deuces and then waited until just recently to watch everything I missed. You didn't like season 7 or 12, but I kinda did like those. I don't think it was their best, especially compared to some of the seasons, but they weren't that bad. I definitely agree with a lot of other things you said though. Season 14 just had me scratching my head the whole time and the whole thing at the end where they all of a sudden made God out to be this vindictive a-hole, I just couldn't get with that.

I like how God turns out to be an immature child that created existence for the sole purpose of having something to entertain himself and not because he was lonely as so many people in real life think. If I was Sam, Dean, & Castiel, I'd be furious if God pretty much told me that all of existence was created just so he could be entertained, that all the horrible things happening is simply there for him to not be bored. It amounts to basically being told that there is no point to existence and was just done "because he was bored" and that there was never a point. Michael hinted that God didn't really care about his creations early in the season but I figured that was just him lying out of anger & pain for why his father abandoned them and never came back after he killed his brother Lucifer at the end of the Apocalypse. Sadly, that's the only hint we get that there isn't something right with Chuck. It would have been nice if we got more hints so it wouldn't have came so out of left field in the S14 finale. They should have started dropping hints here & there a few episodes sooner as God showed up earlier in the season, letting everyone slowly realize what he REALLY wants. This definitely wasn't the plan from the beginning to have Chuck be the last big bad. Maybe that was their goal back when the "God has a sister" twist came along but definitely not since the beginning of the series.
That said, I hope they didn't forget about the Shedim. I REALLY want to see why even Lucifer feared these things that he locked them up. (The Shedim is probably Lucifer's Leviathans.) I also hope they bring the kid that was born of a demon and a human back. These loose ends not being tied up would piss me off.
