Jason Morris is an absolute legend. The man was the first North American and potentially the first judoka to use judo in freestyle wrestling. He deserves the recognition and respect he deserves as one of the GOATS. Also a silver medalist in 92
I haven't finished listening but I will. Interesting points. I volunteer at a dojo teaching judo, theres boxing, wrestling and MMA offered. I tell everyone in every class to do all of them BUT I especially encourage the wrestlers to cross train Judo and it is a very hard sell, which is baffling. The bjj guys don't like to get thrown and wanna heel hook eveyone. My area I have a hard time keeping adults in the class, kids are doing good
Enjoyed Jason’s TH-cam on the state of American Judo. We can learn a lot from the success of BJJ. They aren’t hamstrung by the Olympics! Adding Kosen divisions to events like the Winter Nationals, allowing colorful gis, not making players take off their earned belts and wear white & blue, etc. would be a good step in the right direction. I still can’t believe judo people criticized me for sporting a black gi in the Jack Black tiger roll vignette th-cam.com/video/NzkP3CJywKk/w-d-xo.html. For that I took on the role of Crease from the Karate Kid knowing that would bait Conan into putting it on the air. The result has been nearly a million people have seen that video! Nanka is focused on growing judo. Our police committee is gaining ground and the virtual clinic we held last month drew 150. Eventually we want to make the Winter Nationals a Judo Con weekend in Vegas.
Magazines are passé , this from a 49 yr old guy. The problem with marketing was in judo is that we tend to market to ourselves . We need to hire an outside marketing agency or have a judoka that does marketing professionally to lead the effort

Good topic but a lot of excuses. I am a fan of Judo and all martial arts but you can only blame this plandemic/shamdemic for so much.
