  • How much does an R22 Robinson helicopter cost to purchase? We discuss purchase price, insurance, fuel use, ongoing maintenance costs and also break it down to cost per hour to run. Thanks to Robert and the team at Heliflite at Bankstown Airport in Sydney, we got a complete walk-through of their facility and an overview of the cost of ownership of an R22 helicopter in Australia and around the world. Enjoy the video, and please consider liking and subscribing if you like this type of content.

We went up in a R44 to look at Kings Canyon NT several years ago, the pilot used to be a helicopter gun ship pilot in the Russian Air Force!

Sounds like a fun adventure! The R44 is a workhorse and the most popular tourism helicopter out there. Thanks for watching my video.

Interesting registration VH-8H unknown last letter. First time I've seen a number, appears
Australia is going to use numbers and letters.
This video is pretty simple, but saves the schools, who do more hours per year
and are able sometimes to sqeeze a profit out of training.
Engine overhauls run over $50,000 Australian ,
Those main Rotors can be in perfect condition after 2000 hours but they are cut up
and the hub sent back to Robinson in order to get new blades.
So factor $100 per hour just for the blades and engine.

I see little point in presenting the cost in US dollars! It’s an Australian distributor showing Australian registered A/C!

The way Robert explained that to me, is that the helicopter world primarily talks in USD because they sell helicopters across different countries, so to keep it universal as possible, it’s easier to quote in USD. Also, the factory is in the USA and to avoid exchange rate confusion, USD is the easiest way apparently. Thanks for watching my video.
