    It seems I have to make a pinned comment, and hope everyone who asks about the bodykit, actually reads it. It's an *SSV kit* modelled off the very limited run of TRD kits for the original GT-Four. it's been NLA (no longer available) for over a decade and I can't find anyone willing to do a low-volume remake of these in ABS (fibreglass is too brittle to use on a daily). for those who own another 4th gen (ie. AT160/ST162, etc.) search for *Kaminari bodykits* and retain your original bumpers as they'll be needed to make the kit work. as good as this car looks, it's not in the interest of companies to keep making aftermarket bits for, regardless of the attention it gets. thanks for watching and keep poppin' those headlights.

    This is awesome. I have my own st162 project car here in qld. Ive had it for almost 2 years and ive never driven it further than uo the driveway. If all goes well i will get tp drive it on the road for the first time next week. Theres alot more work to go into it and i hope that it look almost as good as yours one day.

    I picked up a 86' Celica AT160 Liftback ST in blue myself as my first car.
    I have to say that your build looks absolutely stunning! The body kit fits great on this car, truly makes it look like one of those classic JDM boy cars.

      thanks for the comment, I find I get a lot of similar praise for it wherever I take it. pop-ups have always been a head-turning point for the younger generations, especially when these cars are rarely seen nowadays, and even rarer with a bodykit that's been NLA for years. congrats on the purchase, head on over to [st162 . net] facebook group (remove the brackets and the spaces), lots of us hang out over there.

      @@STAG162 you're very welcome mate. I've been a fan of your Celica for a good few years now. Definately the best shape Celica ever made in my opinion and they're very rare now. So wish I hadn;t sold mine in 2009. It would have been worth more than 50x times what I paid for it. Celicas in the condition yours is in would fetch £12,000 plus in the UK. None for sale in England, but a few over in Ireland, as they love their classic Toyotas over there.

      thanks mate, I never spent a lot on this car, but I never had to since it was mostly a repair-as-you-drive type of thing. then it got serious in the 2010's.

    Another good vid,really nicely executed.Shows your car really well,it's a credit to you mate.Touches away from the old skool with the light mods ,interior upgrades,etc don't detract from the essence of the car in my opinion.It's all in the execution,really nicely done and suits the look of the car with the bodykit.A car that probably wasn't originally going to be the project that it turned out to be over a number of years..Hell,I can relate to that.I kept my own car N/A,went another stage on with a 4th revision JDM Beams engine conversion with a lightened fly and some breathing improvements couple to an LSD gearbox,but it still keeps the essence of the car to be honest.The later 3SGE you've gone with is a nice improvement over the stock unit,we had the 1st revision 3SGE on our UK cars,I believe you may not have got that with your Oz SX? But such a good car to play with.Good chassis too,I've improved the handling with sensibly sprung coilovers,camber adjustment and some Whiteline ARB upgrades with a custom fabricated exhaust that helps bring the Beams Redtop alive and makes the car so responsive.Sure,you could go 3SGTE for more power ultimately,but a high revving N/A 4th Gen is a treat in itself. Best wishes from the UK. Sell it,you'll regret it ..

      @STAG162  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      hey mate, thanks for the comment. over the past 15+ years I've tried to keep it more or less in original style - understated but more modern than the 35 years it currently has. I have front and rear Whiteline swaybars, King Lows on the front and (interestingly) stock height Pedders replacement springs on the rear. the 17" wheels might make it look like it's on coils though. you may also recognise the engine from your ST202 Celicas, as that's where I believe this came from. I know I had to get the engine loom from the UK to get it to work in my car. the 1st gen GE engines went the whole run (1985-1989) here in locally-made Aussie Celicas. the gen2 GE engines were fitted in the first of the SW20 MR2s if I recall. I did have the option for a redtop BEAMS in 2008 when this engine was swapped, but I found this low-km one for cheap, and locally, and it's done me well thus far. Cheers, thanks for watching.

      thanks for the kind comment. many people have drawn comparisons with other cars from Toyota against this Celica, and even other cars from other marques in that period. most people confuse it as an MR2, rather oddly. as for the mods, I took whatever I could when they were available, and made them fit the overall design I had in mind - retro, but with a modern touch.

      it seems I'm gonna have to make a sticky/pinned comment or something, because people don't take the time to read through other's. hey mate, as I've mentioned quite a few times in the comments already, these are NLA (no longer available). originally an SSV replica of the very limited edition TRD kit for the Celica GT-Four/AllTrac way back in the day, the remaining few kits were hauled off to carmate . com and after talking with them, they finally got rid of the rest of them to somewhere in America. if you want a functional bodykit with current kit pieces, hold onto your front and rear bars and grab a Kaminari kit, it's the closest you'll get to one of these.

      thanks for the comment. the exhaust is actually ST202 factory manifold into a 2" primary before the cat (stainless 100 cell), then 2" pipe and one 15" mid-mounted resonator before the stainless muffler. I didn't bother going for an off-the-shelf exhaust setup, because for a 35+ year old car there's not that much aftermarket support, and they weren't that popular next to earlier RWD models. now they're getting popular and there's nothing for them.

      @@jac1793 I had the opportunity back in 2008 to put a different engine in it, I just went for simple and uncomplicated 3rd gen 3SGE (the one before VVT-i) which was an unknown quantity, but the condition of it was excellent. I went with my gut and had it installed, and it's running like a top to this day. Glad I did, lane-change-steering (turbo FWD) isn't really my idea a daily.

      'parts' is very non-specific. for a lot of the stuff on my car I was in the right place at the right time, and knew the right people. also bear in mind that it took more than 12 years to get it to the stage where you see it now.

      they're usually the hardest things to get, but you may find people on places like the st162 . net FB page who run into Celicas for spares, which may be available for parting out, etc. "not what you know, but who" is very relevant here, and can mean the difference between getting small parts like what you need, and missing out.
