      I also think Razer made the right choice here with going pro cooling over battery size. Considering the large screen even a 90W battery would probably only result in something like 4? hours of battery life. This is something for people who want something fast as a desktop replacement that they can take with them on the go when needed.

    • @jyggaswoop2774
      @jyggaswoop2774 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      yes it is. msi's new laptop fit a 17 inch screen on their 15 inch body from last year, and they have good battery life. what's the point of a thin and light if they can't just take it somewhere? for this price, the battery life is a major deal breaker for me, and a lot of other people. In addition, there are a lot of other laptops with better cpu's and probably better graphics card if you don't care about battery life. buying t his laptop is like buying an apple product, cuz it is a big rip off

    What is really important for us is having fast render time for 3D modeling software, so a great processor is a must. Also, a good graphic cards for smooth viewport in the programs. A +16 Gbs Ram because we use different programs at the same time. Finally, a great color accuracy in the screen for photoshop and adobe softwares.

    Nice review Dave. Yep, agree, I'm actually using the 2019 Blade 15 Advanced and would definitely recommend it over the Blade Pro 2019. They should have used the 8 core cpu in the Pro, fixed the "?" situation and put a higher capacity battery in it. All your getting that is extra are ports and screen size which potentially for photographers on the go might be the only reason to get this thing.

    Since the battery life is already so low, I really don't understand why Razer didn't include a G Sync option. The Panel refresh is high enough to make Adaptive Sync not a strict necessity but its still a glaring omission on a 17 inch desktop replacement class device that isn't even going to have all day battery life anyway. Three hours of battery life is better than the two it would have without Optimus but I think most gamers looking at the Blade Pro as a potential main rig would make the trade off. It features a DP 1.4 port which supports G Sync on external displays so I'm guessing Razer is using that as a crux.

    Waiting for your test of the Blade 15 2019. That said I am impressed with the cooling they built in here. This clearly is more of a desktop replacement and tbh if you want something you carry around a lot the Blade 15 is the better choice. If however you want something you can take with you when needed but at home you got a very powerful system I think the Blade 17 is the way to go.
    I miss two things: More screen options but that's not Razers fault (they can only build in what is available on the markt) and a different color. Personally I'd love to see a gunmetal grey version of this. I hope they'll release another color in the future, more CPU options (seeing the potent cooling solution) would also be cool.

    I hope they have an iteration of the Razer Blade lineup that has the more traditional keyboard layout (Razer Blade 14), SD card slot for both the 15" and 17" models, Windows Hello IR and on the power button (fingerprint sensor), and a more flexible power cable just so it adds less bulk. I wish they could somehow adapt this thermal solution while somehow keeping the battery @ 80w-hr or 90w-hrs. It would be absolutely the smashing Windows "macbook" experience that will bring more people, gamers and professionals alike, to the Razer Blade!

    The 15 inch does have extra options for the screen. Get the 8750H and a 144hz FHD panel, or the 9750H and a 240hz panel, or the 9750H and a 4k OLED 60hz panel. The jump from 144hz to 240hz is noticable but only slightly. You wont get frames that high on must AAA games at higher settings, its best for people who game competitively. However the 9750H is worth it, and so is the 4k OLED screen.
    For the 17 inch model, 144hz is perfectly fine and if you want more youre better off docking it to the side on your desk and hooking up a bigger and better monitor and external keyboard and mouse.

      @@kyorhane You're right, I'm sure. I can and am willing to buy 2500 dollar machine, but for that price I'd expect more as an informed customer. Consider the Zephyrus S GX701 17.3" for $2500, 1TB NVMe, 144hz Gsync, RTX 2070. Which in my opinion is a better looking device. Not to generalize but if you look at Razer's target audience across various platforms (consider Xbox accessories), a slight majority are either less informed folk or people who care more about the established name brand (edit: or both). Not saying they don't make quality products, but as far as value, most in THIS community can see through the marketing.

    Saw your review amongst others on this notebook and popped down to Scorptec and picked up with the 2060 version. This is by far my favourite laptop over the last year and a half and i’ve been through a few from macbook 15 pro vega 20 (60hz sucks for competitive shooter), Zepherus with 1070maxq (terrible ergonomics), razer blade 15 1070maxq (light bleed and noisy), then replace it with Razer Blade 15 with 2070max-Q then for some bazaar reasons, i then went with a Razer Blade 13.3 mx150 with egpu (2060) and honestly, can’t game on the go and I find the tiny screen practically makes the notebook useless besides web surfing.
    My Razer Blade Pro 17 with RTX2060 is by far my favourite, the larger screen compares to the Razer Blade 15 advanced makes so much difference. I no longer need to hunch over the a small 15 inch screen and I can sit back and enjoy the extra screen realestate. I only play RB6 and i really like the factory calibrated panel. Colours vibrate and sharp. I was concerned about the lack of G-Sync but I never saw any choppiness at ultra settings with no AA and getting 100-144fps. Silky smooth. Fan noise was ok, not the quietest but definitely no where near macbook pro territory. Lastly, for those interested, this is a heavy device and the power adapter is also heavy. Thanks for the review.

    It actually does come with a better screen option, the 4K screen for the 17" has 120hz refresh rate vs the 60hz on the 15". It's also not an OLED, which is better for creators, and has better color reproduction, but I don't think it has HDR.
