I love this song! The time spent by my cassette recorder trying to catch this song on the am stations, and only in the summer for some reason. I cried my eyes out when i was finally able to find it on the internet. Thank you Chris Ward, this song means so much to me.
I tought I was the only freak doing this. Waiting with my finger on "record" to catch a favorite song. Mine was "you're the only woman" from Ambrosia. When I finally got it, I was going bonkers. I think I played it a million times but never got tired of it. Great memories from a long time ago.
I was 17 when this song came out. Toronto of the 70's and 80's was magical for me. Moved to Alberta in '89 and moved back in 2011 and found the Toronto I loved was gone. Hearing songs like this brings me back. If I could only stop time......
I was in the muskoka's in the 70's it was magical, then I had to move down to kitchener and it's sucked ass ever since, I come alive with these songs, thank you puss xo
Parkwaymania: Thank-you, for putting up this memory. I, also, was seventeen; two years later, I broke into radio and, got paid, to play fine tunes like this, Ray Materick's "Linda...", Stonebolt, etcetera. Great times! Thanks, again!
Parkwaymania I'm 27 right now and got no desire to move to Toronto anymore, I'm in Oakville right now but gonna move to California asap to pursue music, figure at least the weather will be better and more going on there....
I came across this song on a TV show called Degrassi in its earlier seasons. I heard the lyrics and the tune of the song and said absolutely beautiful. I was frustrated at first because I couldn't find the song but after a couple of attempts I was able to find it. This is truly a gem even though it's way before my time.
It truly is a Gem Christopher, I absolutely love this song, and I love all the comments that it has generate. From a little after my teen years but truly a masterpiece, from Christopher WARD.
Christopher has 2 great hits, " May be your heart will be broken " love the memories these songs bring back. These songs should be played more often on radio, which they have never heard of him. Great work, enjoyment forever Christopher👍😉💯🎼🎤Kim Wright Victoria,B.C Canada🇨🇦
Christopher William Ward (born 28 July 1949) is a Toronto songwriter and broadcaster, known as a former long-standing on-air personality at MuchMusic, Canada's music video network, where he and J. D. Roberts were among the first video jockeys in 1984. Before MuchMusic launched, Ward hosted a weekend, all-night video program called City Limits on CITY-TV in Toronto. On Friday and Saturdays, from midnight to 6 a.m., Ward broke ground as Canada's first "veejay". His best-known song is the Billboard number one single "Black Velvet", recorded by Alannah Myles. "Black Velvet" was named the No. 49 song in Bob Mersereau's book The Top 100 Canadian Singles. Ward has released several of his own recordings, including the singles "Once in a Longtime" (1977) and "Maybe Your Heart" (1978).
OMGOSH, THIS SONG IS MY MOST FAVORITE SONG, EV AAAAAAAA I keep playing it over and over and over. Chris has to be one of the TOP BEST SINGER TALENT , CANADA HAS EVER HAD. LUV LUV LUV LUV LUV LUV THIS SONG. I GO CRAZY OVER THIS
This song is so powerful to me. I cannot believe I did not put 2+ 2 together that Christopher Ward was on my tv every day in the 70's! I have to marry a songwriter in my next life!
My love song of my heart since I was a young girl. Thank you Christopher Ward for getting me through every heartbreak and every euphoria I’ve ever had. This music is what made me who I am today. I’m so grateful to have grown up in such amazing music times.❤️🌙✨
The 70’s were special to me and many friends. Music was a big part of our lives. On the weekends in St. Laurent, things were much simpler then than it is now. We had a huge group of friends, cars, and motorcycles, and somehow, everyone ended up at our apartment in Norgate and on Poirier St. Friendships were really important, and respect amongst us and our parents was always mutual. Many of us were members of the SLNA, and we stuck together through the years. Most of us have reconnected via FaceBook. We all shared the magic of the 70’s but it’s changed. That era we all loved, and I am sure well missed. I don’t see anything today that our kids can really experience the richness of our era. Too bad it was something special that all of us from then carried inside of us.if only time could be reversed. Gord
It was a simplier time, peaceful. People had differnt attitdudes, people spoke differntly. People we grew up with is differnt from todays crap generation. I was a kid in the 70s, had some great memories, had some fun times. Today its all evil. today generation will go to hell in a hand basket.
Sam you couldn’t be any more correct. I was a Police Officer from 1978 to 2010 and lived the changing of our society and its values. In the late 60’s to the 70’s that was our best times to be alive.
Fabulous song, surprised it didn't get more air-time in the day! I was born in '65 and I could go back to rotary phones and shag carpets in a heartbeat - I sure feel sorry for the kids today (they don't know what they missed) :(
I was a kid sitting in the back of my brothers convertible with my friend Linda. We sang it out loud and my brother kept cranking it up the louder we sang. Such fun innocent days❤️
I was 11 years old sitting on my brother's 68 Delta 88 convertible in a Dairy Queen parkinking lot , watching 3 guys taking the boots to some guy ,while this song played on Q107 lol awwww the memories
I'm in my mid 60's so it's weird I didn't remember who did this song, but a local radio station played this on occasion without saying who sang it or the title of the song so I tried both SoundHound and Shazam and neither could identify it so I recorded it on my phone and put the lyrics into Google and thankfully it brought up this video.
Thank you Parkwaymania for posting this song. I just loved it back then in 1978 and I still do today. I feel the same way about Montreal as you do about Toronto....the Montreal I knew back then is gone forever...sadly. Christopher Ward looks rather handsome on that picture!
Was living in Canada at the time. Bought the vinyl and still have it, but it's been a while since I listened to it. Definitely a guilty pleasure, since macho-macho-men don't want to be caught dead with such schmaltzy material, right? But it's good schmaltz, like The Carpenters, Paul Williams. How about Ronney Abramson and Baby Brown Eyes! Thanks for uploading.
A different time back then; not so dangerous it seems now but you still have to keep optimistic about life--if you truly want to live AND what IT BRINGS !
yes yes yes, thank you so much for uploading it, I don't understand youtube AT ALL. why the hell would they take down stuff especially movies/songs you can't physically get unless you pat up the nose for it just so they can save their ass from "copywrite claims"
Is this song copywrite or what as I can't find it anywhere on Spotify, Apple Music or Shazam, can't even find the artist. Love this one and this is the only way I get to listen to it. SAD
He never got the recognition he deserved.
sitting here in 2022..... can I go back to 1978? Please......
This was all over CKLW Summer of 77 and I loved it!
An absolute Canadian classic. And it really embodies the 1970's vibe!
Young American gal here (39). Heard this song playing on a Canadian radio station on TuneIn and I liked it! Still listening in 2020!

This song brings back memories of late 70's summer days and the innocence and freedom I felt as a youth.
