This was fun, it's great to see you in conversation, Caroline - it's quite different than when you're talking at the screen. (I'll watch it all but this is really great...). I think it would be important for Michael Rapaport to revisit the notion he never experienced antisemitism growing up, basically until Oct 7, to articulate the denial which makes us proceed through life thinking we're beyond history until history hits us in the face. I've become convinced this is why antisemitism is so perennial and how Jews end up so instrumental to its perpetuation. (It's Spelman College, you were close Caroline - named after Mme Rockefeller (her maiden name))

I really appreciate him and his passion and devotion to our cause. That said, I was surprised to hear him say his father is an intellectual because Mike decidedly is not. And it shows when he discusses Israel, occasionally to his detriment.
@gmh471 reminds me of the dynamic between my father and my grandfather. My grandfather had multiple PhD's, no friends, and spent his life reading, researching and learning. My father is mostly concerned with the day to day hustle and bustle of life, not lofty ideas. I am somewhere between the two. Not well educated technically, but extremely curious and always trying to learn something new. I always had some slight sense of Jewish identity, but never really felt strongly anout Jewish issues until recently. October 7th and the subsequent wave of antisemitism woke me up to reality, and now I would probably put many American Jews to shame with how much I've learned about Jewish history and the Arab-Israeli conflict.

I dont think that there was an uptick in antisemitism. It was there before, but now people are more comfortable with coming out as antisemitic. That being said, there are many who hate antisemitism and are open about that.
I am a Christian Gentile who was born and raised in a red state in the United States . On October 6th I was as ignorant as they come. When I woke up the morning of the 7th I was shocked and horrified to see what had happened and was continuing to happen in southern Israel. God had already been working on my heart for a little over a year about getting in his word learning about the history and ideologies of the Middle East so I wasn't completely ignorant just mostly. I had been praying to God to give me knowledge and wisdom and he taught me about israel and the Jewish people. Since October 8th I have been on a life-changing eye-opening heart evolving Journey it is July the 5th and I feel like a completely different person now. I have prayed multiple times and ask God to forgive me for my ignorance and the laziness and unwillingness to know the truth about his promised land or has chosen people. Thank you Jan Barry Jack Amir in so many others for your words of wisdom. I think each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for I don't know that I would have gotten to where I am today without each and every single one of you❤

Hey Michael... I love my bagel just like you... everything bagel toasted with lox, capers, onions, tomatoes and cream cheese. No lettuce. That's how my mom used to serve it to me as a kid growing up in Brooklyn and I that's the way I love it today. Perhaps we should both be considered Conservative Jews for our bagel choice then, haha? I have also metamorphosized and reevaluated my Jewishness of late as I'm sure you have. I don’t know that Trump is going to do what is needed militarily. Which to me is overwhelming air support in Lebanon, clearing a DMZ and ending organized Hezbollah units south of the Litani river, and taking out the Iranian regime to free the Iranians from that nightmare. He ordered Solemani killed, in those words if correctly quoted, but launching a huge military adventure I’m not so sure. I think you would see zero restrain on weapons to Israel but that’s about it. He would project deterrence more than the current administration.

I am Irish a Christian and I always supported Israel and the Jewish people and I was so shocked at the invasion into Israel by Hamas and the absolute brutality of Hamas and their associates on Oct 7th on Israeli civilians. 😢 GROWING UP SCARSDALE Here's some history, while current sorrows are bringing this all back. I was born in 1949. We moved to Scarsdale, New York, in 1956, and I began first grade. We did not play cowboys and Indians all that much but we certainly did play Nazis and Allies. Our fathers had all been in WWII and pretty much to a man didn't speak of it. It was somewhere over there. And had happened an awfully long time ago (all of 10 years)! While our childhoods had their ups and downs, it was beautiful and sunny growing up in a suburb of New York City in our brand-new school as part of the baby boom. We played hide-and-seek and statue. Underlying it all was something called the Holocaust. Many of our friends had heard something happened to their families. They had been killed in some place called Europe 🌍. Europe was someplace quite far away and families being killed was unfathomable to us. TV shows were pretty much cowboys and Indians but to this day I have nightmares of being under attack in my home with bombs going off in my yard. May have come from the newsreels shown at the Scarsdale Plaza Theater Saturday afternoon along with the War of the Worlds. I remember Walter, my friend Nina's father. Walter worked from home, which was an oddity in those days, although many things were oddities and you just accepted them. I remember Walter sitting in his second floor office, a pale, thin man. He often sat with his head in his hands. Other times he just stared. His wife Jeanette was a bubbly South African lady. (Sewth Ewrfricaan). Anyway, she was great fun and her daughter Nina was a good friend of mine, tall and smiling, with dark hair, a beautiful girl. Her younger sister Michelle was smaller, fragile, very slender, beautiful blue eyes and blond hair that curled down her back. Walter would sometimes stare at Michelle, wander over to her, place his hands on her head, kiss the top of her head gently, then wander back as if in a dream. He rarely smiled, but Michelle could bring out some semblance of a smile, then almost a piercing wince of pain. Walter had lost all his family in this thing called the Holocaust. That is what I remember. Somehow I knew the phrase "Never again." I remember being shaken and startled in the 1980s when someone was described to me as being a holocaust denier!?! Never again? Or it's never stopped. I joined a synagogue in the '90s after moving to Seattle, missing my cultural connection to shared rituals of my youth, and began realizing the depths anti-Semitism as friends spoke of guarded schools and places of worship...became aware also of the haven the USA is for the world's Jewish population, second only to Israel in terms of number, although of course not percentage. Also realized how blessed I was to have been raised in a community where it was common to be Jewish. Had I been asked, I would have stated my assumption that each American community was equally divided amongst Catholic, Jewish, and Protestant practitioners. Through the recent DNA testing that's been so popular, I took a shot at it just for fun. I learned through the tests that I have Ashkenazi Jewish dna. So many things now make sense; my ingrained spiritual connection I have with the world community of Judaism is real. We are Israel. Israel population 6.9 m 43% USA 5.7 m. 39% Total world wide 14 million. If Israel is wiped out, which is the stated goal of Islam, wiping out the USA will become the primary goal of Islam. When you have crowds in Australia chanting "gas the Jews," all of a sudden antisemitism is horridly real. We are one 🙏 with Israel. ###
Israel is older than 76. For example my mother was born there in 1934 and as far as she was concerned she was born in Israel. Just because the English decided to call it Palestine doesn’t mean the Jews of Israel agreed. My grandparents returned to there ancestral home in the 1920s and there were many Israelis born there before 1948.
I was mortified by what happened on October 7, during the processing period when it was still happening, and the events afterwards especially the antisemitism that followed. Whatever sympathy I had for the Palestinian cause up until then vanished. The glee, the evil relishing of the protests and the demonic response from the UN Secretary General changed my perspective of the insidious behavior of those I would have expected to be on the right side of history. I lost hope on humanity and doubt if life can be normal again.

I am a Christian Gentile who was born and raised in a red state in the United States . On October 6th I was as ignorant as they come. When I woke up the morning of the 7th I was shocked and horrified to see what had happened and was continuing to happen in southern Israel. God had already been working on my heart for a little over a year about getting in his word learning about the history and ideologies of the Middle East so I wasn't completely ignorant just mostly. I had been praying to God to give me knowledge and wisdom and he taught me about israel and the Jewish people. Since October 8th I have been on a life-changing eye-opening heart evolving Journey it is July the 5th and I feel like a completely different person now. I have prayed multiple times and ask God to forgive me for my ignorance and the laziness and unwillingness to know the truth about his promised land or has chosen people. Thank you Jan Barry Jack Amir in so many others for your words of wisdom. I think each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for I don't know that I would have gotten to where I am today without each and every single one of you❤

I don’t know that Trump is going to do what is needed militarily. Which to me is overwhelming air support in Lebanon, clearing a DMZ and ending organized Hezbollah units south of the Litani river, and taking out the Iranian regime to free the Iranians from that nightmare. He ordered Solemani killed, in those words if correctly quoted, but launching a huge military adventure I’m not so sure. I think you would see zero restrain on weapons to Israel but that’s about it. He would project deterrence more than the current administration.

I am Irish a Christian and I always supported Israel and the Jewish people and I was so shocked at the invasion into Israel by Hamas and the absolute brutality of Hamas and their associates on Oct 7th on Israeli civilians. I was also shocked and depressed at anti-Israel in US in Ireland and all over Europe. The hostility of most of the western media towards Israel allied with Islamist pro-Palestine propaganda is scary.

GROWING UP SCARSDALE
Here's some history, while current sorrows are bringing this all back.
I was born in 1949. We moved to Scarsdale, New York, in 1956, and I began first grade. We did not play cowboys and Indians all that much but we certainly did play Nazis and Allies. Our fathers had all been in WWII and pretty much to a man didn't speak of it. It was somewhere over there. And had happened an awfully long time ago (all of 10 years)! While our childhoods had their ups and downs, it was beautiful and sunny growing up in a suburb of New York City in our brand-new school as part of the baby boom. We played hide-and-seek and statue.
Underlying it all was something called the Holocaust. Many of our friends had heard something happened to their families. They had been killed in some place called Europe 🌍. Europe was someplace quite far away and families being killed was unfathomable to us. TV shows were pretty much cowboys and Indians but to this day I have nightmares of being under attack in my home with bombs going off in my yard. May have come from the newsreels shown at the Scarsdale Plaza Theater Saturday afternoon along with the War of the Worlds.
I remember Walter, my friend Nina's father. Walter worked from home, which was an oddity in those days, although many things were oddities and you just accepted them. I remember Walter sitting in his second floor office, a pale, thin man. He often sat with his head in his hands. Other times he just stared. His wife Jeanette was a bubbly South African lady. (Sewth Ewrfricaan). Anyway, she was great fun and her daughter Nina was a good friend of mine, tall and smiling, with dark hair, a beautiful girl. Her younger sister Michelle was smaller, fragile, very slender, beautiful blue eyes and blond hair that curled down her back. Walter would sometimes stare at Michelle, wander over to her, place his hands on her head, kiss the top of her head gently, then wander back as if in a dream. He rarely smiled, but Michelle could bring out some semblance of a smile, then almost a piercing wince of pain. Walter had lost all his family in this thing called the Holocaust. That is what I remember.
Somehow I knew the phrase "Never again." I remember being shaken and startled in the 1980s when someone was described to me as being a holocaust denier!?! Never again? Or it's never stopped. I joined a synagogue in the '90s after moving to Seattle, missing my cultural connection to shared rituals of my youth, and began realizing the depths anti-Semitism as friends spoke of guarded schools and places of worship...became aware also of the haven the USA is for the world's Jewish population, second only to Israel in terms of number, although of course not percentage. Also realized how blessed I was to have been raised in a community where it was common to be Jewish. Had I been asked, I would have stated my assumption that each American community was equally divided amongst Catholic, Jewish, and Protestant practitioners.
Through the recent DNA testing that's been so popular, I took a shot at it just for fun. I learned through the tests that I have Ashkenazi Jewish dna. So many things now make sense; my ingrained spiritual connection I have with the world community of Judaism is real.
We are Israel.

If Israel is wiped out, which is the stated goal of Islam, wiping out the USA will become the primary goal of Islam.

Israel is older than 76. For example my mother was born there in 1934 and as far as she was concerned she was born in Israel. Just because the English decided to call it Palestine doesn’t mean the Jews of Israel agreed. My grandparents returned to there ancestral home in the 1920s and there were many Israelis born there before 1948.

I was mortified by what happened on October 7, during the processing period when it was still happening, and the events afterwards especially the antisemitism that followed.
Whatever sympathy I had for the Palestinian cause up until then vanished. The glee, the evil relishing of the protests and the demonic response from the UN Secretary General changed my perspective of the insidious behavior of those I would have expected to be on the right side of history. I lost hope on humanity and doubt if life can be normal again.
