How could there even be “diplomacy” there if Hezbollah started shooting at Israel on Oct 8 even before Israel had repelled Hamas and before Israel had begun bombing Gaza. But I strongly suspect that you're only quoting this more to try and equate Hamas with Netanyahu, which is a false equation. Since 7 October (in the Catholic world the day of Our Lady of the Rosary in memory of the victory in the battle of Lepanto), I have been trying to educate myself about the Israel-arab conflict. Currently I am reading the memoars of Golda Meir; learning about the Gaza conflict in the 50ties! This problem has been going for too long…..what other state would tolerate repeated terror attacks and missils across the border for years? It has to stop, obviously, and it is equally obvious for an outsider in Europe that Israel must take control and keep control (over military defense, police , education etcetera). Let there be a process of creating a culture of democracy by instituting small local commities that communicate with the Israeli authorities about local problems and needs. Maybe in 20 years there could be elections and some sort of federation between Israel and ”Palestinian” territoriers. Oh, and why not invite the Christian Lebanese diaspora to return to the Middle East and resettle in Gaza? Wouldn’t they transform Gaza into a Monaco?
